  1. Most Surly recognize the need to remember the past for purposes of avoiding repetition of it. There is no joy in the remembrance.
  2. A fine epitaph for Mack. I'd pitch in on the stone.
  3. The interview is as good a showing as I've ever seen from any coach. It's also a look at one of our great shows, from Third and Longhorn. If you've seen both this and any of their previous shows you already know this. If you haven't, you need to do so immediately. As a recovering Sark-hater, I'm gruntled to say that one of the outstanding things I see in him now is his willingness to own his fuckups, and learn from them. HOOK'EM
  4. Because it starts with "Awesome" instead of "What the fuck is Seven-win Steve doing here? Is he even a member of Mensa?"
  5. Fuck "on-campus". He'd never even been to Austin, and thought he would be in a larger version of Lubbock. I think we have Saban to thank for the hire, ultimately. Probably on both ends.
  6. Motto material, yo. Surly's Arent' Gulible
  7. You're working out unresolved issues relating to anal with your wife. No worries, though, Surly can almost certainly help you with that.
  8. Car manufacturers should have a volume control / tone selector for the horn, from "polite" to roadrage and baby-fart to 2x-cop-siren
  9. Just spitballing here... but, what about a nice art gallery where players athletes can display paintings, statues, photos and other various artistic works? Well, and members of the public can purchase said art... What does the pursuit of Art have to do with some "clearinghouse"?
  10. "It has been reported that" "Experiments show" "Major indicators suggest"
  11. Can live without pancakes. Damned good thing they went for pancakes instead of pecan waffles with maple syrup.
  12. "Experts Agree" "Four out of Five Doctors Recommend"
  13. Thank you for your concern about my welfare. Your concern is misplaced - I am not obsessed with losses, nor with wins for that matter. I would have thought that "a bit po'ed" would be inferred as considerably less tham "obsessed" It is gruntling to hear of your approach; however, you seem to be in a limbo of impatience. Yes, you can wait, and since there seems to be no realistic alternative (surely comatose is more likely but less appealing than time travel), I would counsel you to relax and... wait. Or not - but you do you. Hook'em
  14. I'm still po'ed a bit over our coaches coming out of halftime of the CCG and being surprised by UGa having a basically untested backup QB run the ball down our throats while our D apparently kept playing the same plan, i.e. "no wories, QB can't run". I couldn't believe no one noticed Beck getting his arm wrecked at the end of the first half, and maybe worse, how long it took to react to Stockton's running. Having Caldwell available if Arch goes down... not all warm and fuzzy, but better than a sharp stick eye poke. Absent information from spring, it almost seems like Trey might not've showed up like we would need. It's a tough act to follow - we seemed happier campers to have Arch behind Ewers than we are with Trey behind Arch. I hate the offseason. Hook'em
  15. Heze is an impressive specimen. I'd love it if he can block and catch as well as he bigs. Line him up at HBack and let him motion to wide side and either slip the block and be unguardable for the pop or lead Arch to the promised land.
  16. Big Charlie, Chucky the Hammer... whatever it takes.
  17. Apparently you thought incorrectly... at least, with regard to the "only" part.
  18. Ain't got a grip on it. one way or the other - not like yours, anyway. All I'm up to is pointing out how close it is, how fine is the line between winning and losing, between celebration and heartbreak. Some games the O puts us ahead with time running out, and then the D does or fails to do the stop and win... but some games the O has the last shot and does or fails to make the score and win. It's never just the QB who can't hit the pass or the CB who doesn't get a hand on the ball (or does, but drops it). It's the coaches, the staff, the players... and it's us, the fans. You should forget this shit and buy a few of the lockers - they'd look good in the big cabana at the far end of the pool, no? Wins and losses are
  19. Second and third sons' wives are Subaru drivers. Seem like decent cars. Ain't got a real opinion on 'em, myself.
  20. Nah. But, like Ol' Sarge, it's more Humble Oil and Refining Company daze.
  21. Even funner when we win. Win, and damn, we're that good already. Lose, and we're young, got some work to do and ten-plus games to get there.
  22. Fucking stupid. Win or lose, big games make us tougher and better. With 12, 16 or however many teams in the playoffs, a loss doesn't eliminate us.
  23. Ewers put the team in damn near identical condition. With even less time on the game clock, no timeouts, the D let 0U go 75 and a TD in what, five plays. Basically the same situation for Bama in Austin, although we only had a two-point lead to protect and couldn't do it that time, either.
