Holy shit you dipshits: 9-3 Texas is probably in the playoffs
The best path for us is for committee members to recognize that Texas is the premier team for them to monetize more eyeballs.

Lane Kiffin to LSU?
This is all anyone needs to know about Lane.

This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
If he gets fired, it'll be "for cause", but probably kept internal and promulgated as "mutually agreed". He'd get a few million to help him get by and keep his mouth shut. He's busting his ass trying to MackBrown his way into the Rose Bowl CFP. Maybe he can do it, and more power to him.

Insightful. DM Del Conte.

Life experience. You wouldn't believe the trouble you can get in by removing the wooden micro-pallet from the bottom of the mini-fridge in your hotel room and leveling the damn thing so you can actually hear yourself think.

There's a whole sloppy thread about how to get into the Group of Twelve with three losses. Yes, it's possible, albeit with extremely low probability. The point here is being ready to play after - let's see: 8 months, two weeks, and two weeks - of time to actually get ready. We weren't, all three times. The stories of personal problems, rehab(s), benders would seem to explain the lack of preparation. If true, it seems entirely reasonable to suppose that CDC has kompromat on Sarkisian sufficient to cover "for cause" firing, if it comes to that. My thought is that Del Conte believes reasonably-sober Steve can helm a winning program, and that he believes Steve can manage his problems. I agree that it's possible, and I think CDC and Sark have had that come-to-Jesus talk, and that it led to a list of achievements required... what we're seeing right now, with Sark advocating tirelessly for that CFP slot, is the result of that meeting and those trquirements. Here's hoping it all works out for all concerned... including us.

It's exactly that simple. Getting into the show with three losses is only possible in extremely rare circumstances, which, as it happened, didn't occur. Not losing the third game, and especially to Florida is the way in. Substituting someone else for Florida is pointless, but you just keep on pointing.

If? If? What if? Why, yes. as a matter of fact conjecture, we are. If we beat UGa...

No. The tOSU game is not the problem. The UGa game is only part of the problem. The Florida game is the problem. Losing inexplicably to asswater is the problem, and the thread title spells it out for you: This is who Steve Sarkisian is.

Damn, it's embarrassing to have so many people going on and on and on about being penalized for playing - and losing - a big-time OOC game. If anything, we in fact get plus marks for playing tOSU closer than their other 11 games. No, get the fuck outta here with that "OOC big-game loss keeping us out of the champeenships" bullshit. What keeps us out is the other two losses. Most of all, Florida. That was pathetic... actually, it was asswater, am I right? Yes, I fucking am. How the fuck do you come off a bye, with a full extra week to prepare, and lose to Florida? What the fuck was the coaching staff, from the top down, doing for those two weeks? It damn sure wasn't preparing for Florida. Fuck me. After Florida, we knew, absofuckinglutely knew, we had to win out... at least to the point of being in the CCG, with a pretty-much guaranteed CFP berth there, win or lose. Beating UGa was a requirement. Again, we came off a bye, and again we were unready, outplayed, and outcoached. Coffin, meet nail. One last time: losing to tOSU didn't put us out of the CFP. Losing to UGa didn't put us out of the CFP, even though it was the proverbial Last Straw. Nope. What put us out of the CFP was being humiliated by a team that was ready to - and did - fire their HC. Asswater.

Lane Kiffin to LSU?
This is not entirely true. It sounds good, but it's wrong. I - and I think most of us - have paid for things and not gotten them. Tex Long's First Rule of Finance is "You don't get what you don't pay for." Like the original version, it's not universally so, because sometimes you do get what you do or don't pay for... but the far greater occurrence is ... "Nah, you ain't gettin' it." Thinking that you'll definitely get what you pay for... Bad Idea™. DM Jimbo

2025 Random Games thread
Watching Ioway and Nebarska in the blowing sleety snow. Good game for the first half, anyway. Seeing Holgorsen working with Neb QB, it occurs to me that Sark needs to go the same route, leave HC job and get back to purely offense. Kiffin could probably use some help at LSU...

Arch Manning: Scores every way possible
Agree with Wingo as more decoy than target - Mosley and Livingstone need to get the ball more. Arky came within a FG of aggy, there's room for the world's greatest offensive mind to get over that.

Nah. Best job is Coaches' Agent. Get paid by errybody, just set up a few interviews here and there and deposit those checks.

Justin Tucker: The new Old Freak Nasty?
I suspect most of us, at some point in our lives, have had a female companion with an excessive need for attention, often exacerbated by slight over-indulgence in alcohol. What is needed is a place of her own, preferably with a lock on the outside. Failing that, we have to be able to restrain an occasional physical attack without undue force. Unfortunately for some of us, we may find ourselves in a likewise state of slight over-indulgence, and if our companion is a large, strong person, we may encounter an exchange of bruises, scrapes, and scratches. Honestly, I believe his initial statement was probably pretty damned close to the truth, namely that he was reading something, she demanded attention, he failed to respond and kept reading, she snatched (so to speak) his reading glasses from his face and broke them, which pushed him over the edge, A few slaps were exchanged, she called 911 (often a Bad Idea absent a life-and-death situation). One of the responding officers told her they could arrest him if she was - oh, I dunno, being strangled? She went with that, the cops pretended to believe it, and here we are. I still feel that Beard could have salvaged things by apologizing most sincerelyto Randi, the fans, his players, the school... errybody. And then seeking and performing anger management training. But he didn't. And here we are.

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
Yep. Friend of mine was nuclear power engineer at Bechtel for many years. Recently sold the little house in Palo Alto that he paid $12,000 for back in 70s, got $1,200,000 for it. He's happily retired in what he called"horse country" (wherever that is)...

2025 CFB Polls/Rankings Thead
It's fun to wade hip-deep through the argumentation. No doubt about it. The best part is that it'll never stop as long as the Beauty Contest System continues. Two teams? You're fucked because you're third most beautiful, biggest cup size, least knobby knees... whatever. Four teams? Fucked at fifth. Twelve teams? Left out at thirteenth. Let errybody in, at 128 teams. That's seven weeks of playoffs and nobody gets left out.
