I had to sleep on this, so I stepped away from it as soon as the game ended... which was, of course with a little time left on the game clock. If it's been beaten to death already, I apologize. But I overheard this and I had to figure out how to share it.
Steve! Hey, Steve... it's God, Steve. I have a message for you, so listen up. Steve? Are you there? Message from God, here. Pay attention.
It's first and goal, Steve, the clock is running out. The refs have done pretty much everything they could to hand you the game. Punch it in, put up two for the conversion, and start getting ready for Notre Dame.
It's Arch Time, Steve. You're on the one yard line with four cracks at it. Put in the young guy and get ready to celebrate. Having Arch on the team is a gift from Me, and you need to start using it better. Quinn has done a marvelous, a wonderful job, getting you to this point, and he'll certainly get massive kudos, and he'll lead you against the Fighting Irish as well.
But it's Arch Time, Steve. Put him in, score the TD – pass or run, doesn't matter: you're the World's Greatest Play Caller, you call it. Have the two-pointer ready, tempo the extra point – let them call time out, doesn't matter. This is it. If you let Will kick it (or Bert, whatever), you'll be tied and into OT, and you'll have to get the 2-pointer anyway, so do it now.
Steve? Are you listening, Steve?
