  1. Several times over the season we have seen QB and receivers not on the same page. This miss in OT looks like more of the same. At a time when there was basically no such term as WR, I was "lonesome end", not in huddle but signaled by QB with a pretty damn simple route tree or just "block". The in/out was dependent on the halfback - I mean "defensive back" - guarding me... he go outside, I go inside or vice versa. Honestly, though, I don't think we threw it more than eight or ten times per game. This was sixty-odd years ago, but I don't believe that part of the pass game has changed so much... if the defender is inside, I expected the ball outside; if he's outside, I expected it inside. All that just to say, I don't think Quinn was wrong to throw it outside. Moore should have been looking for it there. Your mileage may vary. Hook'em
  2. Every Surly is happier with Almost-even Steven at the helm than we were with Corch Potato or MensaTom. There may be some who would dispute that, but they show themselves to be only PseudoSurly by that very ignorance. That said, most of Surly agrees that "almost" is not quite good enough. Where we differ in our shitty opinions is the nature of the next step, the one that takes us over that last hurdle and into the Promised Land. My shitty opinion is that Sark needs to quit being Saban the Goat's super OC and step into Saban's shoes and direct all three of his Coordinators instead of being OC first and HC second on Game Day. As HC, the job is to formulate the strategy and make sure the Coordinators not only know, but DO, what is tactically and operationally necessary. More shitty opinion. Milwee is not ready to become that OC. He can't even coach Ewers out of his widely-criticized flaws, and apparently totally defers to Sarkisian instead of speaking truth. All that said... yeah, Sark is really, really good, and so is the team he's built. Not one of us is happy about the fact that Kirby Smart has proven himself to be the better HC - or at least the luckiest. Like you, I'm more than ready to see that next step taken, and we all need to be aware that we are still on that path, right this very instant. We stumbled, but we're still on the path. Let's take care of Clemson. Hook'em
  3. You're probably correct. But assuming we get by Clemson and ASU and run into UGa again, if we see Quinn in the same game plan... we likely need to be prepared lubed for the same result. Small aside: how could you watch Haynes King running all over and come that close to derailing UGa, and not consider readying a package/plan for going to Manning if Ewers wasn't scoring? Smaller aside: as HC, at the long, long halftime, wouldn't you be all over your DC to be ready for the freshman running QB?
  4. If only we had a backup QB. Or a third-string FG holder...
  5. Georgia's looks horrendouser.
  6. Bond needs to sit. Blue maybe also. Where's Gibson?
  7. Nah, bruh. Nah. Nah. Gimme Ms Sarandon.
  8. Yeah, what saw. Unfortunate for Becht, but not targeting.
  9. No, it was not, and is not, irrelevant. Trashy? Maybe. Effective? Yes. Yes, it was. All things considered, I'd say it was a message that likely could not have been delivered any other way. Complaining about getting fucked - or being subjected to incompetence - would have been seen as whining. Fuck it. Hook'em
  10. When you gotta go...

    Getting old sucks

Damn right. Not my birthday today, so I only had brisket, potato salad, beans, lettuce, tomato, sliced onions, jalapenos, and a nice cabernet. Finna get into a bowl of butter pecan. Watching UNLV getting planted into that god-awful blue field up in Idaho.

    So far, so good.
  13. That depends on which team calls the TO, I think. The substitution stuff has been badly fucked since they started keeping the O from putting the ball in play but letting the play clock keep running. I've also noticed quite a few games in which it appears that the play clock stops on 25 until the ref steps out of the way.
  14. Not a "play", but I get it.
  15. Not sure when - or if - the substitution rule changed, but it used to be the case that when you subbed in, you had to stay in for at least one play. If that hasn't changed, the refs missed it. I wondered at the time, but it wasn't even mentioned.
  16. Nah. Like that midget hooker, just a Little Behind.
  17. 20,000 12-oz plastic bottles, filled with BULLSHIT. Could be used as souvenirs or tossed onto field in the event of BULLSHIT refereeing.
  18. Jeremy Hills on 3rd & Longhorn was exactly right: Punch them in the mouth. When they respond, punch them harder, punch them faster.
