  1. Yes, very sharp guy, and the interview will definitely make you appreciate what we have in Coach Flood
  2. For somebody looking to upgrade their home system (for LPs and streaming, almost exclusively), can anyone recommend a store in the Dallas area? Is my first real experience into the hi-fi world. I've been to Audio Concepts, which is very cool but feel like budget needs to be about $100k there, so looking for anything else that's between A.C. and Best Buy. Thanks in advance.
  3. thanks for the reccs!
  4. 3.5 hours? I'm sorry, I liked the book but somebody needs to have enough balls to properly edit a Scorcese film.
  5. My wife has put together an NYC trip just the 2 of us for my birthday in early November. We have wanted to go to Le Bernardin for a long time since we both like Ripert and are big seafood eaters. The problem is, that since plans weren't made far enough in advance, we have a reservation for 11pm on a Friday night. Since I'm well out of my 20s/30s now, I'm not too jazzed about a prix fixe at 11pm and we are on their waitlist for an earlier reservation, but I thought it would be worth looking into other spots that are (a) available for a reservation with less than a month notice, and (b) big-occasion / memorable spots. Looked at EMP but it doesn't qualify as we definitely aren't vegetarian, and can't get in there at this point anyways. Any ideas for a backup?
  6. I have been in this position before, and got to the stadium probably 30-45 minutes before kick, went to the Texas side, and found some OU fans in essentially equivalent seats on the Texas side. They were more than happy to trade with me.
  7. Didn't this place used to be called The Palladium?

    Vinyl

I'd guess around $5k or so, if that gets me significantly upgraded

    Vinyl

Okay, so my vinyl collection that I've been working on for 4-5 years now has grown to the point where I need a hi-fi upgrade. Right now I have a Audio Technica turntable and powered Audio Engine A5 speakers. It's a nice setup, and I like that it is compact, but it doesn't have a range and sound stage that I know I would appreciate. I made a visit to Audio Concepts in Dallas, which was probably a mistake as it exposed me to a whole other world. Before that I was pretty ignorant on all things phono/amp etc. But that place is far from a value proposition, so I thought I would inquire on this thread - does anybody have any strong recommendations as far as upgrading to a more complete system with better components and speakers? I don't really have a budget in mind, but I don't want to upgrade twice and would rather get a setup that I will be happy with for a long time. Any thoughts? Outside of Audio Concepts (which I liked but crazy expensive), Starpower (which I have had bad experiences with) and Best Buy (which I guess carries equipment similar to what I already have), I'm not really aware of any resources.

  15. Are we taking odds yet on the final vote on this thing?
  16. To be fair, they toured together that year and I believe they alternated who opened and who headlined
  17. The Cult opened for Guns N Roses in 2017 at Jerryworld and were far better. About 20 years ago Drive By Truckers opened for the Gourds at Trees in Dallas and it wasn’t close who was best , even though I loved the Gourds
