  5. GJ Kinne agrees to new contract Texas State, per report The deal marks Kinne's second raise within the past 12 months. Zach Barnett 17 hours ago GJ Kinne has agreed to a new contract to remain at Texas State, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported Thursday. The extension keeps Kinne under contract for seven years and averages $2 million over the life of the deal, according to the report. This is the second alteration to Kinne's deal in 11 months. In December, Kinne agreed to a 5-year extension that averaged $1 million per year. This deal will double his average pay. Kinne, who did not enter coaching until 2017, is in his second season at Texas State. After going 8-5 with the program's first ever bowl win last season, the Bobcats are 6-4 and sit a game out of first place in the Sun Belt West with two games remaining.
  6. Terms of the extension have not yet been shared, but we will update as they become available. It marks the second straight season Lashlee has inked an extension.

  9. AUSTIN -- The Texas A&M Aggies are apparently prepared to pull out all the stops when they host the Texas Longhorns in a monumental rivalry rematch in College Station on Nov. 30. Per Nicole Griffith of KBTX News, the Aggies are planning to place additional speakers on the sideline against Texas, which will add even more noise to what will already be a raucous crowd at Kyle Field. Texas A&M used these speakers for the first time this season in Saturday's win over New Mexico State in what appeared to have been a test run. Of course, this strategy will certainly be a hot topic of conversation on social media for both fan bases, as the idea to pump in some extra noise at a stadium known for its hostile environment will have Texas fans questioning the atmosphere at Kyle Field. The decision to add the speakers is certainly a curious one. No one is doubting the noise the 12th Man is capable of bringing, especially for a game of this magnitude. Kyle Field has proven it's one of the best homefield advantages in college football whether Texas fans want to admit it or not. Regardless, the Longhorns have hardly been fazed by road environments over the past two seasons. Texas will enter the matchup having won 10-consecutive true road games, as the Longhorns haven't lost on the road since Oct. 22, 2022 against Oklahoma State. That's the longest active streak in the FBS. If Texas can take down Kentucky on Saturday and then Texas A&M on Nov. 30, the Longhorns will almost certainly avoid being the road team in a potential first-round game in the College Football Playoff, regardless of what happens in the SEC Championship. This streak would then lead into next season as an impressive feather in the cap of head coach Steve Sarkisian. Texas and Texas A&M will kick off from College Station at 6:30 p.m. CT on Nov. 30. https://sportspyder.com/cf/texas-longhorns-football/articles/49959436

  12. Sergeant Al Powell : Hey Roy, how you feeling? John McClane : Pretty fuckin' unappreciated, Al. AUSTIN, Texas — Meeting with the media on Monday for the first time in weeks, Texas Longhorns redshirt junior quarterback Quinn Ewers was asked to assess his performance this season. Ewers demurred. “I mean, we’re 9-1, I’m pretty excited about that,” Ewers said. As the national conversation surrounding the No. 3 Longhorns has focused on the team’s strength of schedule and lack of wins over top teams, a large portion of the Texas fan base has spent this week in varying stages of meltdown about Ewers throwing for just 172 yards on 32 pass attempts in the 20-10 win over Arkansas in Fayetteville. The discourse surrounding Ewers also prompted a question about whether he feels appreciated by Longhorns fans. “Do I feel appreciated? Yeah, I think so. They’re passionate, for sure, but yeah, feel good about it,” Ewers said. On Thursday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian broke off from answering a question about what his quarterback is going through to send a message to the fanbase. “I tell this to all Longhorn Nation — we’re 9-1 for the second year in a row, we’re competing for a conference championship for the second year in a row. We’re competing for a spot in the College Football Playoff for the second year in a row. Don’t forget what the last decade looked like. Let’s just remember how good we’ve got it right now and appreciate this team for how good they’re playing right now,” Sarkisian said. How’s that for perspective?
