May be rainy night in "Death Valley" Saturday... No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 20 LSU renew their highly-competitive SEC rivalry in Saturday night’s much-anticipated Top 20 showdown in Baton Rouge. The third-ranked Aggies (7-0, 4-0 SEC) enter as 2.5-point road favorites over the host Tigers (5-2, 2-2 SEC) with an over-under of 48.5 points, according to BetMGM. Texas A&M has already ruled out starting running back Le’Veon Moss for a second-consecutive game after suffering an ankle injury against Florida two weeks prior. LSU -- All eyes are on the status of LSU junior middle linebacker Whit Weeks, the heart and soul of the Tigers defense who missed last week’s 31-24 loss at Vanderbilt while recovering from a bone bruise in his ankle. Weeks, who was listed as “doubtful” in Wednesday’s initial availability report, is expected to remain in a walking boot “for another couple of days” according to head coach Brian Kelly. “Whit is still non-weightbearing,” Kelly said during Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference. “He’s in the boot, and we’ll keep the boot on him for another couple of days before we know what he can do. He’s been doing some additional treatments, and he’s feeling better, but we won’t know on him until later in the week.”

Really frustrating bend but don't break Texas defensive effort in 2024 game. Hope the TOP disparity isn't 10mins in Miss State's favor again like 2024. Gotta stop Miss State offense better on 3rd downs... 2024 Game Stats Score was 7-6 Texas till late 2nd quarter touchdown by Horns...

GameDay won't cover the FCS Game of the Year Well, nine weeks in, what are ESPN's actions telling us? No. 15 Mizzou at No. 10 Vanderbilt is a great story -- GameDay has already been to a Vandy game this season, but this is the show's first trip to Nashville since 2008 -- but, pound for pound, Tigers-Dores is not close to the biggest game in college football this weekend. We've got a 1 vs. 2 game in FCS on Saturday. The last time South Dakota State lost to someone other than North Dakota State, it was the FCS semifinals of 2021. The Jackrabbits fell to Montana State, who would ultimately fall to North Dakota State in the FCS title game. The 'Rabbits then ripped off 34 straight wins over sub-FBS competition until losing to NDSU in the Fargodome last October, in another 1 vs. 2 game. The teams met again in the Fargodome in the FCS semifinals, and again the Bison came out on top, 28-21. North Dakota State and South Dakota State have won the last four FCS national championships, and 12 of the last 14 (though 10 of those belong to the Bison). At least one of these programs has played for the FCS title every year but one since 2011, and the only team to beat NDSU in an FCS National Championship since the Bison claimed ownership of the entire subdivision was South Dakota State. So, we've established that the Bison and the Jackrabbits are really, really good. What about Saturday's game (8 p.m. ET, ESPNU)? Well, I regret to inform you that that defending national champion Bison are once again an absolute unit. NDSU leads FCS in scoring defense, total defense, passing yards allowed, and passing efficiency, and they're top-10 in a collection of other statistics. The most important: sixth in scoring offense (43.6 points per game), pass efficiency defense, turnover margin, third down offense, third down defense. The list goes on and on. No one has played this team to within 17 points, and only No. 18 Illinois State managed to do that. After Cam Miller led FCS in passing efficiency last season, senior Cole Payton has stepped in to once again lead the nation by a relative mile -- 74 percent passing for 12.9 per attempt with 11 touchdowns against one pick. The key statistic there may be that Payton has only had to throw 121 passes through seven games, because NDSU is fifth in the nation in rushing at 242 yards per game and hasn't trailed in the second half for one second all season long. If you're SDSU, how do you possibly win this game? You've got to lean into your relative strengths. The offense isn't as efficient as NDSU's, but the defense is neck-and-neck with the Bison. SDSU is also as good as anyone at turning people over: they've forced multiple turnovers in all but one game, and swiped four interceptions in each of their past two outings. That's a narrow road map to victory, sure, but beating NDSU is not easy. No one knows that more than South Dakota State.

Good stuff @OnAComputer

Hills makes some good points. Gotta call what the O-line executes the best -- playcalls that allow them to use their physical size to get a hat on a hat. This O-line currently can't run a bunch of finesse bullshit.
-
Taaffe out for Miss State... Derek Williams Jr. & Xavier Filsaime will be the players tasked with doing so, Sarkisian said.
-
Keep hearing it's likely Miss State will punt the ball away from Niblett to avoid a big return. Wonder if Banks tries to dial up another punt block again this Saturday???
-
Poor player evaluation is the biggest problem at o-line per Dan. He still believes Flood can coach... Former Texas All-American Dan Neil talks Longhorns O-Line, Offense, Can they improve Dan Neil kept calling him "Curt Flood" instead of Kyle 😋
-
Probably need Texas Defense to get 2+ takeaways vs Miss State for a shot to Win this Saturday. Sure hope we generate more 3 and outs by Miss State offense... frustrating watching Kentucky convert so many 3rd downs into 1st downs... 😬

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
LTtxfan replied to GreenspointTexas's topic in Football
Yah left the following out... "Ryan O'Hara will call plays from the booth and Steve Spurrier Jr. is going to have a more active role on the field with the quarterbacks" . Spurrier Jr.'s role is an elevated one from his standing as an offensive analyst with the team. Elevating the role of Spurrier Jr. Gonzales explained, was done so with Lagway in mind. "First and foremost, Coach Spurrier has been with us all season long, working with quarterbacks and with Coach O'Hara," said Gonzales, who also praised Spurrier Jr.'s offensive knowledge from being around his father, the legendary Steve Spurrier. "This allows us to move Coach O'Hara upstairs and have somebody who's been communicating with DJ all season long." https://footballscoop.com/2025/10/22/florida-getting-steve-spurrier-jr-more-involved-in-gators-offense -

Scipio Tex + Ian Boyd 😬
-
Wingo's definitely not quick -- first 10yds of his 40 would likely be underwhelming.
-
Baxter would help, but RB room starting this season is disappointing Scipio Tex on Kentucky game... RUNNING BACK Wisner is a third-down change-up back miscast as an every-down back that we deprived of the one run concept where he excels. I thought he ran fine, but he wasn’t able to do much after contact. He’s game in pass protection, but lost some physics battles. Wisner is currently averaging 3.8 yards per carry on the season. He has two carries longer than 10 yards. Christian Clark had a hard run for 8 yards where he broke a tackle. That was the game-high longest run for the RBs. If you count RB runs and called runs with Arch, Texas ran 23 times for just 54 yards.
-
Yeah, I've been trying to figure out how this current offense could salvage their season going forward. Just move the damn chains more, get more 1st downs, and hopefully score 24+ points/game. Is there a run blocking scheme that this current o-line can actually execute consistently?? What pass plays can Sark use early in games to give Arch more confidence and success?? What can Sark, Flood, and Banks do to produce better blocking results?? May just have to dumb some things down, and work on a smaller list of offensive plays for awhile. Then just practice the hell out of those plays so the offense executes them properly. This offense has to quit shooting themse!ves in the foot with dumb mistakes...

Trent Seaborn, Class of 2027 quarterback, commits to Alabama Eli Lederman Oct 20, 2025 Alabama continued its efforts to pad its future quarterback depth Monday when four-star 2027 passer Trent Seaborn announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide. Seaborn, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound recruit from Alabaster, Alabama, is ESPN's No. 7 pocket passer and No. 114 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting cycle. He picked in-state Alabama over Miami, Oregon and South Carolina, among others, landing with the Crimson Tide two days after visiting for the program's 37-20 win over Tennessee in Week 8. Seaborn now lands as the fourth ESPN 300 recruit committed to Alabama's 2027 class and is the latest addition to Crimson Tide coach Kalen DeBoer's growing quarterback pipeline. Behind Heisman Trophy contender Ty Simpson, Alabama's current quarterback depth is anchored by redshirt sophomore Austin Mack and five-star freshman Keelon Russell, ESPN's top-ranked member of DeBoer's first signing class with the Crimson Tide. In the 2026 cycle, Alabama is set to sign a pair of quarterbacks when the early signing period opens on Dec. 3 between four-star Iowa State flip Jett Thomalla and three-star passer Tayden-Evan Kaawa. In Seaborn, the Crimson Tide have the commitment of a uniquely experienced high school quarterback and one of the most productive passers in the 2027 class. A junior at Alabama's Thompson High School, Seaborn became the program's varsity starter as an eighth-grader in the 2022 season, eventually leading the Warriors to a 7A state title that fall. Seaborn powered Thompson to another state championship as a sophomore in 2024 and has already eclipsed 8,000 yards passing for his varsity career. Sources tell ESPN that Alabama again is expected to pursue multiple quarterbacks in the 2027 cycle, seeking to add another passer alongside Seaborn in the program's 2027 class over the next year. Among the Crimson Tide's other priority targets at the position is top-ranked quarterback Elijah Haven out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. ESPN's No. 14 overall prospect in the ESPN Junior 300, Haven visited the Crimson Tide over the weekend and is expected to return again later this fall. Led by top-30 defenders Jireh Edwards and Xavier Griffin, Alabama currently holds the No. 8 recruiting class in ESPN's rankings for the 2026 cycle. The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide are set to visit South Carolina in Week 9 (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC) riding six consecutive wins following the program's season-opening loss to Florida State on Aug. 30.
