  1. Positive stuff. Sounds like Sark may need to call more straight run plays instead of RPO's. Too many Texas penalties, and offense not converting bully ball runs in the red zone in 2nd half were issues for Texas. 2. I'm waiting for the McRib's to enter the discussion again...
  3. Mike Elko denies taking shot at Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly in post-game comment "It's ridiculous," the Texas A&M head coach said Monday. Zach Barnett 8 hours ago Mike Elko dropped a bar following No. 10 Texas A&M's comeback win over No. 16 LSU. "This is a real program," he said. "It is not fake. It is not a politician running this program, talking fast and BSing anybody." Most people who heard, and then read, the quote immediately wondered aloud if Elko was talking about Jimbo Fisher, his notoriously fast-talking former boss. We were among them. Others argued Elko was firing verbal bullets at Brian Kelly, who once worked in politics and whom Elko will have to play and recruit against for the foreseeable future. Elko famously worked for Fisher at Texas A&M before taking the Duke job, but prior to that he was Kelly's defensive coordinator at Notre Dame. The actual answer was neither, Elko said Monday. "You guys gave me multiple opportunities in nine months to take shots at people, and I've never done it. I have nothing but respect for Coach Fisher. I've said nothing but positive things about Coach Fisher. I'm the head coach at Texas A&M because of Coach Fisher. I appreciate who he is, everything I've done. And for anybody in the media to think that what I was doing post-LSU is asinine. And for it to be about any other head coach who gave me an opportunity and hired me, that's not who I am. I've never been that person. It's ridiculous, but it is what it is." A cynical person would argue that this explanation allows Elko to have it both ways. He can take a not-so-veiled shot at his former bosses/current rival, or at least allow the public to believe he's taking shots at either of them, and then walk it back with a heavy dose of plausible deniability. That would be pretty calculating though, and the opposite of the image Elko has cut since he joined the public eye as Duke's head coach in 2022 -- an attribute that's probably the biggest attribute to Elko's success thus far. Elko became the head coach of a top-10 team by telling it like it is, so I think in this case we have to believe he's telling it like it is. Even if that's not as fun.
  4. Not a fan of teams playing 3 times unless the 3rd time is in the CFP Championship... I won't be surprised to see conference championship games being eliminated soon...
  5. Better mobility and threat to run with Arch as the Longhorns QB.
  6. So gooners set up a nice long-term finance plan to buyout BV -- I like it. 😋
  7. Yeah... I'm on team keep Mike Gundy. I don't think his 9 lives at okie lite are all gone.
  8. Yeah Klatt noted it as well @48:35 mark. Guess Sark feeling the need to boost Quinn's confidence...
  9. Starts @48:35 mark, Joel Klatt remarks on Sark's "over the top" public support of Quinn
  10. Put this on O-line bulletin board... The two times the Texas Longhorns gave Vanderbilt the short field, the Commodores took the biggest advantage and tallied 14 points. The turnovers, in addition to 10 penalties by the Longhorns, either took points away from Texas' scoreboard or added more in favor of Vanderbilt. With a bye week between this game and the home matchup against Florida on Nov. 9, the Longhorn offensive line must work on avoiding these easy mistakes so as not to struggle against the Gators and the rest of the teams in the schedule. The Texas o-line gave up four sacks in addition to nine tackles for losses, and though that is a small improvement from the six sacks allowed last Saturday against Georgia, it is far from the standard head coach Steve Sarkisian preaches. This line is experienced and has no excuse not to play to the best level, and we know they can be better. In the first six games of the season, the offensive line only allowed six sacks, this number has almost doubled in the past couple of weeks as it reaches 11. Sarkisian credits a lot of the issues to the amount of penalty calls the team had. "I was getting a little frustrated," Sarkisian said. "It's one thing you get a holding penalty on a one-yard run, we were getting holding penalties on chunk plays, then you get backward. You get off schedule. I think when we're on schedule as an offense we're really good, and we got off schedule in the second half and things got difficult for us." Texas was forced into punting four times for 145 yards, which was still less than Vanderbilt's five for 241. The next two weeks will be crucial for the development of a solid offensive line, which must improve communication and discipline going forward.
  11. Report: Lincoln Riley's USC buyout 'around $90 million' "People are unhappy about USC," ESPN's Pete Thamel said on the College GameDay podcastg. "My sources told me this week that Lincoln Riley would be owed $90 million if you were going to fire him. Right around $90 million. That's like Jimbo (Fisher) super-sized buyout. It feels like those two are a little bit stuck with each other right now, Lincoln Riley and USC." https://footballscoop.com/news/report-lincoln-rileys-usc-buyout-around-90-million
  12. UCF reportedly dismisses defensive coordinator Ted Roof Roof was in the first season of his second stint at UCF's defensive coordinator. ZACH BARNETT 1 HOUR AGO https://footballscoop.com/news/ucf-reportedly-dismisses-defensive-coordinator-ted-roof
  13. Sec officials seeing a player taken to the ground and complaining have several times called holding... pretty lazy officiating. Gunnar did not hold on penalty called against him.
  14. Tom Hart (SEC Network) was interviewed on the Aggy show today and was really critical of Texas OL -- said vandy was one of the worst sec teams pressuring the QB. He was surprised how many sacks vandy had vs Texas. 😬

    Texas RB Talk

This info from Aug 23rd from Bobby Burton says different...I BURTON: One thing Fozzy said last night that caught my ear. Fozzy said he was talking to Tashard Choice last week. And Choice told him that Jerrick Gibson is the best pass protector of the bunch. From Fozzy's mouth to God's ear. Hope that proves to be the case this year because Quinn Ewers needs a big back to step up in that role.
  19. Penalties on return teams, and bullshit punt coverage results are terrible. Punter has to get better... 😬

    Texas RB Talk

How healthy is Jerrick Gibson -- seems like Sark really needs Gibson's ability to run inside the tackles to help our offense??? Texas struggles running the ball and terrible pass blocking by our RBs are hurting this offense...
  21. Do you expect Cam to return for another season at Texas???
