  1. Damn, did not see 0-4 B12 start happening Interesting game Saturday @ baylor -- surprised that both Aranda and Gundy have 3-4 records...
  2. Another heavily hot-seated candidate was head coach Dave Aranda, who got a key win against Texas Tech last week. Every game remaining on the schedule is critical and the Bears (3-4 overall, 1-3 Big 12) will likely be favored in most, if not all, of them. While the preference by Baylor brass may not be to move on from him, the Bears do need to take care of business coming down the stretch. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-coaching-carousel-latest-names-for-ecu-southern-miss-and-whether-aranda-is-safe-at-baylor/

    TEXAS QB TALK

Unexpected, but I agree with Urban The Texas Longhorns' quarterback situation has been arguably the most fascinating in college football for over a year, and now it's getting more attention than ever. In the second quarter of Saturday's loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, the Longhorns pulled starting Quinn Ewers in favor of Arch Manning as the offense struggled to get anything going. Manning didn't stay in the game for long, but that brief appearance was enough to raise questions about the quarterback situation as a whole. At least, that's the case for some media members. Others like FOX Sports' Urban Meyer, who won two national championships at Florida and one at Ohio State, believe there isn't much of a controversy to speak of. “I think these discussions are had well in advance. I mean, it’s life in the big city,” Meyer said on The Triple Option podcast. Meyer said on The Triple Option podcast. “Whether you’re a right guard, quarterback, safety, or corner, if you are not playing well in places like Texas... there’s quality people behind you. If Mark Ingram’s not playing good, you got a cat behind him, he’s going in. I would tell the quarterback the same thing and I would tell the team the same thing.” Manning, nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, is easily the most famous backup quarterback in the country, so any time he sees game action is going to draw national headlines whether or not he's actually in contention for the starting job. “The media will make it bigger than it is in the locker room, if you’re not performing well as a punter, I’m gonna take you out and put the other punter in and I explain that,” Meyer said. “Those are conversations had well before the first half of the Georgia game. “I think that’s a bigger story for us and for Austin news stations or whatever. It is what it is.” Ewers did improve in the second half, but it was too little, too late as the Longhorns fell 30-15 for their first loss of the season. The Longhorns look to bounce back when they travel to face No. 25 Vanderbilt on Saturday.
  7. The biggest game of the year (so far) had the biggest audience of the year. ESPN has announced the matchup was the most-watched college football game of the season so far. The audience peaked at 14.1 million, according to ESPN, and it was the most watched game on ESPN’s family of networks since the 2016 Ohio State-Michigan game (16.84 million). An average of 12.4 million TV viewers tuned in to see No. 5 Georgia’s 30-15 win over No. 1 Texas from DKR. This is a big audience for the Longhorns for the second week in a row. The Texas-Oklahoma game had 7.63 million watching at home, according to ESPN. That was the second most-watched game of the week behind Ohio State-Oregon, which had 9.6 million viewers. It was second most-watched Texas-OU game since 2009. This was the first time this season the Longhorns have generated more than 10 million viewers. The Texas-Michigan game had an estimated 9.19 million watching the second week of the season.

  11. Quinn needs to play a lot better... otherwise Arch needs more reps. Sark seems to believe that playing time is based on merit...
  12. Yeah... Sark and Kirby are pretty good friends. Sark mentioned it in his 10/13 press conference.

  14. Why Kirby Smart says playing defensive line is like playing the Battleship board game John Brice 1 hour ago Georgia is coming off one of THOSE performances. A stand-on-business, we-have-not-gone-anywhere victory at Texas last Saturday. Of particular note was the Bulldogs' overall dominance along their defensive front, which helped stymie then-No. 1 Texas and its previously high-octane offense. The Longhorns were limited to 29 net rushing yards on 27 official tries, held to three-for-20 on third- and fourth-down conversion attempts and sacked seven times as part of Georgia's 10-TFL effort. The Bulldogs routinely shifted their defensive front in the final seconds before the Texas offense snapped the ball. Though Georgia coach Kirby Smart said movement up front has been a part of the game for "hundreds of years," he did also reveal why shifting that first line of defense is key to the Bulldogs' defensive philosophy. "That's called stinting and it's been going on for hundreds of years," Smart said Wednesday on the SEC's weekly coaches' Zoom. "You don't want to sit in one place. "They motion and they move people around offensively to try to gain leverage and gain an advantage. It's like Battleship: if you leave your stuff in the same spot all the time, they eventually blow you up. "So, we're just trying to make sure that we aren't always sitting still in the same spot." Needless to say, there was no point Saturday night where Georgia had to hear anyone from Texas exclaim, "You sunk my battleship."
  15. Texas Jaws is comin' for vandy... 🤘
  16. The Joel Klatt Show shared a short clip addressing the whole cigar victory act in the Alabama vs Tennessee Volunteers game. Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt shared his anger and frustration over kids smoking after the game thinking it might look cool saying, “Someone needs to teach the kids at Tennessee. By the way, kids, you shouldn’t smoke cigars, but if you’re going to, you don’t light them with matches. Like, there was so much wrong with that Tennessee like, come on… Vandy is kicking your b–t in celebration.” Joel Klatt not only took a shot at the Tennessee students, but he also mocked them by pointing out that the Vanderbilt goalpost celebration appeared more like a victory gesture than an attempt to fill the stadium with smoke. 18. The saga of Quinn Ewers: Putting one of the most unique careers in college football history in context Quinn Ewers has already had one of the most impactful and eventful careers in college football history. As that career hits its final chapter, everything is on the table both for he and the head coach who's been so faithfully loyal to him. 19. Wisner, yesterday in green non-contact jersey. Shoulder injury/uncertain for vandy. Mukuba not likely to play vs vandy. Not sure about Bond's status since he missed part of 2nd half vs jawja.
  20. Here's hoping Quinn has a good week of practice and balls out vs vandy. Would love for Quinn to bounce back and get himself playing like he did in 2023 vs bama and okie lite...
