  1. Enjoy the win - it was lucky and OSU is clearly a better team but it was at least fun to win against a decent team for a change. Don't spend time fretting on Herman, he will definitely fuck this up. Next week, probably. Even if not I don’t see a sure win on our schedule with the way this team plays (yes, including Kansas. See: last year).
  2. I regret an angry post or two here. Sam wasn’t great today but seeing him sing the eyes by himself is a real bummer. He at least gives a shit which it seems like is more than can be said for the bulk of our team. I don’t know what to make of his leadership - really bizarre to see a captain left out by himself like that (did the team decide they wouldn’t sing the eyes and Sam defied that? Was it left up to each player and no one else cared to stand with their captain ?), but given the general jackassery of this team, it seems to be a them problem more than a Sam problem. Most of my - and probably others here - frustration stems from the fact that I really believed he would develop into a great player, but it just hasn’t been there. The inability to throw even a semi catchable deep ball is truly confounding, as is his regular blow up quarters. IMO he’s doesn’t have the talent to last more than a couple NFL seasons but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been a solid college QB who can win when shit falls right. Unfortunately our program is so fucking broken we’ve seen where that gets us - a .600 win percentage, 1-4 against OU and one season where we sorta competed for a conference championship. Theres a decent chance we end up worse off when he leaves, but we’ve seen where we end up with him and that’s not cutting it either. It’s not all on Sam (if we’re picking between him and his arrogant prick of a coach it’s a no brainer) but I’m ready to turn the page.
  3. I’ll eat a little crow for some hyperbole. He’s not ass, he’s very mediocre guy who plays better with his back against the wall, but as soon as he started having to throw the ball down the field against a non prevent defense we were fucked. The difference in the OT was Rattler made a bunch of throws Sam isn’t capable of. But plenty of y’all are gonna come on here and say what a dumbass anyone who is critical of Sam is, so whatever. Pack it up, season is a bust. Maybe our next 3+ year starter will win something of consequence.
  4. He’s ass, my dudes. I hope the rumors of “he hates Herman and won’t come back” are true. And all the numbnuts who continue to defend him - You’re part of the problem. Demand more for our school. Riley fucking benched a dude who outplayed him.

  6. Double post... Sorry. Ill edit to say our line also sucks shit through a straw as does our head coach - another week, another instance of getting out coached.
  7. Kills me that there are still some in here trying to defend Sam... CORCHES! OTHER PLAYERS! 1-4 vs OU... ouch.
  8. Hard to care much right now...
  9. Well at least Tom is confident. Anyone else?
  10. He’ll “stick” in the NFL? So he’s maybe Chase Daniel? Cool. Maybe he is top 4 in school history -we’ve had 4 win NCs, and Colt, but obviously 60s were a different type of football- but that says more about our QB history than Sam being great imo.
  11. Yeah text my brother circa 2nd or 3rd quarter basically “The QB draw is there for a TD whenever they want it.” I was already 2 cocktails in and could see it. Ash couldn’t.
  12. This. Plenty of blame to go around, including the QB who completed less than 50% of his passes. People on here wanna pretend like all the other players are letting Sam down when he’s as much at fault as the rest.
  13. Huh? Well 2017 also had Cosmi, who if you’re getting talked about as a potential 1st round LT that’s pretty elite positional athleticism. Then 2018, Overshown was a 5* certain places on athletic ability alone. Same with Jalen Green (player QB IIRC). Coburn is a great athlete at NT (chased down a couple of sweeps today at 330). Joshua Moore was a track star and Christian Jones was a kid who played soccer at 6’ 6”. It ain’t talent dude, it’s coaching.

    Ingram

Sucks for Keontay because he’s a pretty good back, but his legacy here will be dropping the TD vs LSU and the fumble today.
  15. This is obviously true - Dan Marino is an all time QB despite zero rings. But, in college, a great QB will almost always lift his program to previously unreached height, e.g. Drew Brees winning a Big Ten title at Purdue. Pat Mahomes - idk what to tell ya. For the most part, I don’t think looking at team success is a terrible metric to use when considering how “great” a QB is.
  16. Obviously Patterson is a better coach than MENSA. But if you’re arguing that Sam needs better coaching, in addition to the better talent he already has, to outplay Duggan even 1 out of 2 games, you’re kinda making my point for me. Look at it this way: if we have Colt of VY behind center today, we all know we’re not losing. I don’t think we lose with even a Jalen Hurts back there. We lost today. Sam isn’t some irreplaceable talent being held back by those around him.
  17. Lol. Check out last years TCU game where (freshman) Duggan also outplayed Sam— https://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=401112132 Coaching too though right? Also - the point that senior Sam should be head and shoulders better than Duggan is a shit take? A shittier take than Sam is a great QB trailing only Vince and Colt in UT history as has been stated over and over?
  18. Maybe - he’s a more dynamic runner, probably slightly lesser passer. But that’s kinda my point - people wanna run around acting like Sam is some generational Texas QB who would be great if not for his coaches, when the reality is a true sophomore who’s been practicing for a few weeks is his equal. This loss isn’t all on Sam, but to act like he played great and the rest of the team let him down is burying your head in the sand.
  19. It was painfully obvious which team had more talent. It’s fucking hilarious that a defensive coach and his staff did a better job of scheming the ball into their best player’s (Barber) hands than MENSA. That combined with our lackluster, unfocused start show why we’ll never be a real contender under this fucking clown.
  20. ~2/3 of Sams passing yards came on 3 plays, 2 of which were schemed wide open (Eagles stop and go and Ingram wheel). The other was a pretty good (12ish yard) throw to Wiley that he turned upfield for a long run. With that context, go look at Duggan’s stat line against Sams. Now ask yourself which team’s skill talent you’d rather have. That’s our issue. I don’t think anyone is saying Sam sucks, but this idea that he’s a heisman quality player or irreplaceable is a joke.
  21. He’s just not very good. Great QBs don’t have complete blow up halves multiple games a year. Great QBs can hit their guys in stride where Sam consistently makes guys adjust to catch the ball. Face it - he’s the best we’ve had in a very long string of bad players at the position, but even somebody like Ash would’ve had a comparable career (if not better) if not for the injuries.
  22. OUR SUPER BOWL!!! YAY TEXAS FANDOM!!
  23. Sam sucks dude. HBU QB threw for 500 yards against this d. Sam can’t get to 200.
  24. Why put Bru on that list? How dumb. We lost that recruitment to USC not once but twice.
  25. Impressive that they found a way to have 8 starting WR! Also as much as we bitch about our lack of LB depth, one injury there and they’re fuucked.
