Burnt Ends

  1. That’s great. There is nothing like being in your 20s in New York, especially during the honeymoon period.
  2. Agree with all of this. I do have a soft spot for Cafe Lux on 70th. I think @txduck87 will find that most/all on this forum have aged out of bed study so we probably won’t have the best recs. It’s also a huge neighborhood. I can recommend Winona’s at the very top of the neighborhood, and have plenty of recs in adjacent neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Fort Green, but honestly your son will know best. Finally, I just note that UWS, while a nice neighborhood and a good tourist spot with museums and the park and so forth, is a longggggg way from bed stuy. I assume you know that and have planned accordingly.
  3. If nothing else, it’s always nice to see a shit bag like Dillon Brooks lose.
  4. Both these teams are so meh. T Wolves are going to eat.
  5. This post inspired me. Pretty similar approach.
  6. OP, I found a band you will absolutely love.
  7. We found Helobious’s sock account.
  8. Broughton was JAG at best every year at Texas outside of last year, during which he was awesome. My point is that this staff has consistently shown the ability to develop players beyond reasonable expectations.
  9. Zach Lowe is the best in the business and it isn't close. The Ringer effectively swapping Kevin O'Connor for Zach Lowe is like replacing Charlie Strong with Nick Saban. Mahoney is also very good. Russillo bums me out on a human level, but the Sunday show with Simmons is very good in the context of the broader NBA media-sphere. I hope Bill does something with Lowe on a weekly basis.
  10. I agree with this, but I just watched Vernon Broughton and Hayden Connor get drafted, so I think I’m just about done underestimating this staff’s ability to elevate players I think are JAGs.
  11. Mostly a flex, but the food is fine. The new location is way better than the old one. I would sit on the terrace if you can.
  12. Do you know what 2025 - 50 equals? Yeah, I think I’ll take Marty’s run from 1975 onward. Also, A Serious Man, Inside Llewyn Davis and Miller’s Crossing are all better than Barton Fink. Also also, it’s PTA (username needs to check out)
  13. MJ Lenderman at Brooklyn Steel. Kick ass show, terrible single photo that I took

Count me in the group that thinks Lucifer, Hot Thoughts and They Want My Soul represent their best work. As an aside, Ga x 5 came out my freshman year at UT. Impossible to understate how that album was just playing fucking everywhere in Austin that year.
  15. That’s interesting. I go to LB fairly regularly for client lunches and always love it (shout out Dover Sole). I admittedly haven’t been to Per Se in a decade, but I remember it being a bit too stiff for my liking. Maybe I need to give it another try. When you come back, I would try your best to get a seat at Tatiana. Totally different atmosphere and presentation compared to your lineup, but it was one of the best/most interesting meals I ate in 2024.
  16. Jungsik, Per Se, Masa, Atomix, Le Bernardin, and EMP in one trip is really something. Atomix is the best of the bunch IMO.
  17. I’ll be in Whitefish last week of June; what are the odds I can fly fish on the river that early in the season? *note to black lab, Whitefish is in Montana, not the state that shall not be named.
  18. https://www.wsj.com/business/retail/pepsi-soda-tariffs-manufacturing-coca-cola-76dffe02
  19. One is a great movie, the other is cosplay
  20. “The 19 year old girl is not as attractive as her teenage video game character” has to land in the top 5 of incel/dweeb crossover posts on Surly. Well done
  21. Finally caught this. Overall a fun time, and Pattinson was fantastic. Bong is so great at creating new worlds and creatures. It did feel very up and down tonally (the Ruffalo stuff did not work for me, at all). I’d put it towards the bottom of Bong’s movies, but glad he’s getting the opportunity to take swings.
  22. lol. How will Ireland ever be able to compete with a Cheesecake Factory menu.
  23. Never a doubt! Elder millennials everywhere celebrate!!
