  1. Maybe it's just that we've recruited at a JAG-level at interior defensive line in every Sark recruiting class (both out of high school and in the portal). One of our key guys is a guy whose never been a good player at Texas and who literally skipped the spring game to get married. Fortunately, every position around that group is good to great, and so you hope we can mask our deficiencies in the middle. We'll certainly found out on Saturday.
  2. Texas 24 Michigan 17 Mich pass yards at 175 Their defense is good enough to slow us down, and our defensive interior is average enough to give them plenty of yards and perhaps points on the ground. But, we are significantly more talented and experienced overall, which should carry the day.
  3. I must really be missing something with Strange Darling. Saw it last weekend in a packed house knowing nothing. Felt like it was realllllllly trying hard and telegraphing its punches. But more importantly, if it was supposed to be a “suspense thriller”, I was neither in suspense nor thrilled during the entire run time. Pretty good acting though, and Love Hurts is a banger. Can’t wait to watch Oddity.
  4. Have you watched Chime yet? I rented it last night on something called roadstead.io. Annoying that he decided to release it in this difficult format, but really great and classic Kurosawa horror. One of the best I’ve seen this year
  5. Imagine all the things Prong Horn ingests on a daily basis that are completely fabricated but that he just accepts as truth. A true champion of the algorithm.
  6. Man they are really leaning into the military and cops tonight…
  7. This is lovely, except it isn't true as it relates to the "conservative" Republican party in modern history. The party of Reagan and Bush that all of the Never Trumpers supported was also a party of shitty policy and bigotry (albeit in more hushed tones I suppose). Granted, they weren't a threat to democracy like the current iteration, but let's not pretend that "any conservative party" would support a bolstered social safety net, the freedom of bodily autonomy if you happen to be a woman, etc. Of course, I'm happy to have as big of a tent as possible this coming November.
  8. Caught some weakfish out in Sag Harbor Bay this morning. Great fish for Baja Fish Tacos with homemade serrano cream sauce.
  9. You just described virtually every 9.95er in the business, including our own. Recruiting fans live for this shit. Sprinkle in some “starter kit” for your backup plans and “character issues” for your misses and you are fucking golden.
  10. Now you've gone and made me rank the Hitchcock movies I've seen. Plenty I haven't seen, especially from the early years. 1a/b. Vertigo/Psycho 3. Rebecca 4. Rear Window 5. Notorious 6. The Birds 7. The Man Who Knew Too Much 8. Strangers on a Train 9. NXNW 10. Rope 11. To Catch a Thief 12. Foreign Correspondent 13. The 39 Steps 14. The Lady Vanishes 15. Dial M for Murder 16. Marnie 17. Saboteur 18. Torn Curtain 19. Topaz 20. Trouble with Harry
  11. Holy shit, actual player info in a commitment thread instead of the same lame ass gifs and memes. Machinator for president!
  12. The Beast (available on Criterion). One of the best 2024 flicks I’ve seen. Lea Seydoux, my god Also really liked I Saw the TV Glow, Love Lies Bleeding and Longlegs. Maxxxine was good not great.
  13. The bread and everything else in that photo come from the farmer’s market in my neighborhood. Sadly I do not have a baker’s touch
  14. Calendar turns to August, y’all MFs know what to do
  15. It’s really amazing to watch. Several of my colleagues are former law school classmates of JD. Most of them say he was a pretty generic, dweeby but harmless guy at YLS. You never know what’s lurking underneath. On the other hand, they’ve all described his wife as “soulless” even back then, so seems like a match made in heaven.
  16. LeBron, Duncan, Kobe, Steph, Shaq, KD, Jokic, Dirk, Wade, Garnett.
  17. I bet this joke went hard in the smith county Facebook group.
  18. Extremely successful private sector career? Didn’t he spend like 2.5 years a McKinsey before jumping ship to the public sector? Not that I disagree with your overall point. He needs to be a heavy hitter on the campaign trail.
  19. I went to bed around 10pm with a team of juniors cranking away on a thing a client asked for by noon today. At 3am I start getting panicked phone calls from the team that all computers have crashed. Then the IT backup call alerts start. Still down, fun morning!
  20. Whoever created this sock account is absolutely masterful.
  21. The interview with Oz at the end of that episode is really, really great. Interesting deep dive into the creative process and intent of this movie (even if, for me, some of the intent really didn't come through).
  22. You could probably skip. The cinematography was really interesting, sort of like if Malick shot a B movie (or at least that’s what they were going for). But yeah, there are at least 2 absolutely gnarly kills
