  1. Can’t believe I’m saying this but I agree with Rex. Cruz is a piece of shit no doubt, but I probably wouldn’t have legitimate concern that he would launch a war if somebody tweets something mean about him. Hell, we already know you can trash his wife and he’ll roll over like a bitch.
  2. Thanks for the recs. Nothing available at Mamou and only a 9:30 at Saint Germain, so decided to go with 8pm at Dakar. Will see if I can squeeze in a second meal on Sunday.
  3. Thanks, will look into. Friend of mine also just recommended Dakar. Looks awesome. My only hesitation is the non-refundable $200 charge at time of booking
  4. I have a solo dinner night in New Orleans in late October. Looking for recs for upscale/upscale-ish place (preferably with dinner service at a bar/counter seating, tho not a must). Thinking something like Shaya or R'evolution, but those are pretty established now so wondering if Surly has any other recs.
  5. Oddity was terrific, but boy they biffed the ending
  6. This is me. I thought he was a pure JAG, and then the spring game thing was really weird. But he’s been really good this year. Impressive stuff
  7. Central Park Zoo (weather dependent) is good for a kid that age because it's in the middle of Manhattan (less travel time) and it's a very confined loop, so by the time your kid has entirely lost interest and/or is melting down, you are done and can get back to your hotel quickly. The usual suggestion for kids would be American Museum of Natural History. I don't think you will make it long with a 2 year old, so just be ready to miss quite a bit. I have an almost two year old, but I live in the west village downtown so all of my other suggestions are tied to the west side of lower Manhattan. In that area, assuming weather is nice and you are sufficiently dressed, you could stroll your kid around the Little Island and then, when they get antsy, take them a 10 minute walk down to the playground at Pier 51. This is also close to the Chelsea Market (indoors and stroller friendly) and Whitney Museum (indoors and stroller friendly, but obviously depends on your kid's tolerance for adult stuff - maybe Pier 51 after Whitney). The lowest High Line entrance is also right there and is stroller friendly. There are a surprising number of good restaurants that are kid friendly in the 5:00-7:00 dinner window. Meaning, they have high chairs and won't treat you like a pariah. Don't expect a Texas-style kids menu, but if you want actual good food and not shit food in midtown, suggestions include: (1) Barbuto (we eat here once a week at least); (2) Pastis; (3) Anton's; and (4) Locanda Verde, which is farther downtown in TriBeca. All of those are also good lunch options. Pretty sure Locanda Verde does a Thanksgiving lunch if that is something you need. I have plenty of other suggestions (again, mostly in the West Village and TriBeCa), just PM me if you need more help. Breweries are also great for kids and adults, but all of those are in Brooklyn. If you want to venture that way, I can give suggestions.
  8. Or his last game #toofuckingsoon
  9. Go ahead, say it, you son of a bitch
  10. For Italian near Penn, I think Ci Siamo in Hudson Yards is by far the best answer. It’s more upscale than red sauce. Need a reservation in advance. Also plus one for Keen’s if you are trying to be close to the Penn Station area. Sure it’s a little touristy but I still try to go once a year with buddies. Not a god damn thing wrong with two martinis and a mutton chop. W/R/T JFK to midtown, personally I always take a car, but if you are set on a train you can definitely take the AirTran to Jamaica and grab any number of LIRR trains into Penn/Moynihan Hall. It won’t save you time. By far the better option would be to fly into Newark or LaGuardia. Fuck JFK
  11. Yep, it was really, really loud that first possession before reality started to set in. Between our missed kick and their first offensive possession, the Michigan guy beside me said it was among the loudest crowds he's heard at the big house. Things changed quickly.
  12. Sooooo many sad Michigan fans on my flight back to nyc this morning. Delicious
  13. We took that place over Major props and thanks to @immamac. Great to meet him and many others. Now back to the casino
  14. Leaving the casino now and we’re still laughing at “muledick mean anything to y’all”
  15. On the first flight out of NYC headed to Ann Arbor with a flight of 80% decked out in Michigan gear, 19% in Texas gear, and 1 nice guy in MSU gear. TEXAS!!
  16. Maybe it's just that we've recruited at a JAG-level at interior defensive line in every Sark recruiting class (both out of high school and in the portal). One of our key guys is a guy whose never been a good player at Texas and who literally skipped the spring game to get married. Fortunately, every position around that group is good to great, and so you hope we can mask our deficiencies in the middle. We'll certainly found out on Saturday.
  17. Texas 24 Michigan 17 Mich pass yards at 175 Their defense is good enough to slow us down, and our defensive interior is average enough to give them plenty of yards and perhaps points on the ground. But, we are significantly more talented and experienced overall, which should carry the day.
  18. I must really be missing something with Strange Darling. Saw it last weekend in a packed house knowing nothing. Felt like it was realllllllly trying hard and telegraphing its punches. But more importantly, if it was supposed to be a “suspense thriller”, I was neither in suspense nor thrilled during the entire run time. Pretty good acting though, and Love Hurts is a banger. Can’t wait to watch Oddity.
  19. Have you watched Chime yet? I rented it last night on something called roadstead.io. Annoying that he decided to release it in this difficult format, but really great and classic Kurosawa horror. One of the best I’ve seen this year
  20. Imagine all the things Prong Horn ingests on a daily basis that are completely fabricated but that he just accepts as truth. A true champion of the algorithm.
  21. Man they are really leaning into the military and cops tonight…
  22. This is lovely, except it isn't true as it relates to the "conservative" Republican party in modern history. The party of Reagan and Bush that all of the Never Trumpers supported was also a party of shitty policy and bigotry (albeit in more hushed tones I suppose). Granted, they weren't a threat to democracy like the current iteration, but let's not pretend that "any conservative party" would support a bolstered social safety net, the freedom of bodily autonomy if you happen to be a woman, etc. Of course, I'm happy to have as big of a tent as possible this coming November.
  23. Caught some weakfish out in Sag Harbor Bay this morning. Great fish for Baja Fish Tacos with homemade serrano cream sauce.
