  1. Many, many times. I used to live around the corner about 6 years ago. It’s a good spot and walkable from your hotel. Not sure of your age range, but the immediate surrounding area and into the LES will be pretty heavily slanted towards mid-20s (not Peasant, it has a healthy mix). Maybe that works for you or maybe you’ll want to go elsewhere after. If you are a wine person, La Compagnie is a great French wine bar relatively near by but outside the prime bustle of Nolita.
  2. Not too bad, though it's a crime that Alana Haim wasn't nominated. My top ten for this year. 1. Licorice Pizza 2. Drive My Car 3. The Worst Person in the World 4. C'mon C'mon 5. Lost Daughter 6. Pig 7. Annette 8. Azor 9. Bergman Island 10. Dune Haven't seen Souvenir Part II, Parallel Mothers, West Side Story or A Hero yet. The Power of Dog (which I liked and have at #14 on my list) is going to clean up.
  3. I’ve been many, many times for work lunches. I can’t speak to the atmosphere at night, but the sushi is excellent.
  4. Loved this movie.
  5. It’s also like the only place left in my neighborhood that has a good open kitchen past 11:00 on a weeknight. Gone are the pre-pandemic days of eating at Buvette at 1:00am on a Tuesday. It’s basically Katana, Corner Bistro, or a slice place.
  6. Good list all around. King is great. You could try the original Dante for drinks after, although it'll be crowded. Little Branch is also close, and then just a bit further up you have bars like Pisellino, Katana Kitten, etc. But I've always liked the small bar in the back of the Bowery Hotel, in case going back to your hotel is easier. For Friday, it isn't on as many lists as some of the other places you mention, but you can usually get a cancellation at Altro Paradiso through resy. It's one of my favorite places, and a 9 minute walk to Comedy Cellar. Penelope's suggestion of Dame is excellent, but I really doubt you would have any luck walking in. I never have. I'm partial to the Whitney because I'm a member and I think the outdoor stairs give great views of the city, but if you haven't been to MOMA you should go there. The New Museum is relatively near your hotel and also good. All the classic upper east side museums are better if you do Bemelmans, just depends on what art you want to see. For Via Carota, if you go put your name in at 5:00pm (probably will already be a line outside), you should be able to get a table for 2 around 8:00. They take your phone number and send you a text when the table is ready, and hold for 15 minutes. I know that can be annoying when you are visiting the city. You can also walk across the street and drink at Pisellino. Pastis is another one of my regulars, but you will need to get a cancellation on resy. No point in walking in. Another idea is Momofuku Ko, which I think is tremendous and has the benefit of being close to your hotel. The wine director there is a buddy of the mine. She slings some great wine on the tasting menu. For sushi., you should just do omakase. Shuko and Nakazawa are both kick ass. The former has more of a New York vibe with the music and what not, the latter is like being in Tokyo. Both hit the wallet fucking hard. I'm going to Kosaka tonight to try it out. All that said, you can change nothing from your itinerary and have a great time. Good work.
  7. A few recent 2021 watches: Bergman Island - fantastic Nightmare Alley - just ok but worth a watch House of Gucci - I knew it would be a comedy, but I do not think it was in on the joke Benedetta - Paul Verhoeven loves to watch people fuck. This movie was fucked up.
  8. Maybe a baby for this thread, but it’s drinking beautifully after an hour decant
  9. Not my favorite director, but: 1. Memento 2. Dunkirk (maybe 1. better every watch) 3/4/5: Prestige/Dark Knight/Inception I also like Interstellar, though it’s not without its flaws. I’ve watched Tenet a few times. I respect the effort but it’s a miss for me.
  10. I am a proponent of taste being subjective and like what you like, but someone who says this and then follows it up with this should have their IP address banned from any serious film discussion. And I saw Dark Knight multiple times in theaters and countless times since. But I do give you credit for saying this
  11. Dumb question amnesty please. When people say “it’s to get the watch serviced”, what does that mean? Do you know it’s time by performance, or just every 5 years bring it in the shop?
  12. The Voyeurs. This movie is not good. Unless you like Sydney Sweeney. In which case, this movie deserves all the Oscars.
  13. I don’t think RV roof repairs are deductible, friend.
  14. I'm sure I missed it but has anyone identified what shit poster Bravo morphed out of? A thousand posts in 3 months across the two political boards here, most of which are mind-numbingly stupid. I'm just assuming he ran out of luck under an old handle.
  15. Nope, haven’t been since pre-pandemic.
  16. Fuck this cold. Finally going to Dhamaka this Saturday. Thanks for the pics above.
  17. Drive My Car. Hamaguchi is a fucking master. One of my top 2 or 3 favorite 2021 movies.
  18. Green Knight. Wild shit
  19. Lot’s of talk about daughters attending SEC schools, and a disturbing lack of pics. Do better people.
  20. Let me go ahead and get my hopes up. Does Sanders project as an off the ball linebacker or an edge player in our defense? We've had so many defensive coordinators I can't keep up with all the stupid Mike/Sam/Will/EDGE/Fuckface nomenclature.
