  1. Bingo. He pissed off a lot of the big cigars and donations were starting to be threatened. The move had to be made.
  2. I disagree. I feel like our culture is "Show me first. And if you do I'll make you Scrooge McDuck rich. But you gotta prove it first." I believe with a coach like Saban he's already proven it so there would be tons of trust in the building process. Texas' problem is leadership takes a lot of gambles on unproven coaches. What coach has Texas ever hired that was a proven championship winner? Texas Coaches: Darrell Royal (HC Record before Texas 17-13) 167-47 at Texas Hit Fred Akers (HC Record before Texas 10-13) 86-31 at Texas Hit David McWilliams (HC Record before Texas 7-4) 31-26 at Texas Miss John Mackovic (HC Record before Texas 44-36) 41-28 at Texas Miss Mack Brown (HC Record before Texas 69-46) 158-48 at Texas Hit Charlie Strong (HC Record before Texas 37-16) 16-21 at Texas Miss Tom Herman (HC Record before Texas 22-4) 32-18 at Texas Miss Steve Sarkesian (HC Record before Texas 46-35) 5-7 at Texas ? As you can see, Texas has never gone and money whipped a proven coach pretty much ever.
  3. Spending money on stupid things because you can, is still stupid. Now, I would spend $20 million/year if Saban was an option. But he's not so........
  4. I'm fine with that. If Texas dropped $10+ Million a year on Lincoln Riley or Brian Kelly I'd be fucking pissed.
  5. The only alternate uniforms I ever like are the service academies. Those are kick ass.
  6. Right?! Can we get some fucking Texas guys on the coaching staff? It's only the most important state for us in recruiting....
  7. I want him back badly. Excellent defensive mind with a knack at finding linebackers.
  8. Cowboys vs Raiders always has the greatest possibility to resemble a cartel turf war. I'm sure some more quality footage will be dropping soon.
  9. Which is why coaching in college football is really pretty shitty outside of a handful of guys. If all a coach brings to a table is a single scheme that he can only be successful with when it has "his" handpicked guys. Is said coach really worth a shit? I would hope a Defensive Coordinator at one of the biggest programs in college football has the ability to coach players and run schemes in multiple lineups. I know in my average career I played in a 4-4, 4-3, 3-4, 4-2-5. PK is a liability at this point and is just being another block head college coach that refuses to change and it should cost him his job.
  10. Sounds like you'd be better off as a fan of the University on the other side of the Red River. They excel in that arena.
  11. No... But if your stance is really "Texas can only win if we have a heavy talent advantage over all of our opponents" then this program truly is dog shit wrapped in cat shit and absolutely wastes its money on paying coaches millions that really are just figure heads and not coaches. The absolute sad part is this program wouldn't even recruit a Freddie Steinmark type of player. Texas has lost its soul and identity and will continue to wander the desert until the program decides to come together and take pride in being Longhorns. Right now there is a roster with a lot of guys that seem like they don't even want to be out there playing football, let alone happy being Longhorns. The 2021 Longhorns have enough talent to be 7-3 right now. You don't go up by double digits on ranked teams 3 weeks in a row and say "there's not enough talent".
  12. I don't disagree with you there at all. The HUNH Spread has destroyed defensive talent in Texas and has made teams softer overall. To address your first point though, 2008 Alabama wins 12 games after a 7-6 season in 2007. You can't say that team was loaded up with star rankings. Brody Croyle, Greg McElroy, and AJ McCarron are absolutely nothing special. However they played within their abilities and limited mistakes. Saban collected defensive players like it was a hobby and has put out some of the best defensive performances in college football history the last 13 years. It's like Coaches get to Texas and go full retard. The recipe is build the trenches, play salty defense, and establish a running game and you will win more often than not. Look at Baylor this year, they get after the QB on defense and establish the run on offense. Very simple stuff.
  13. Why can't an AD grow some balls and tell them to "get fucked, I'm running this athletic department my way."
  14. Why are Texas fans so overwhelmingly enamored with players? The constant around here is "gotta have more talent" yet the teams Texas consistently loses to are teams with less talent. Chasing stars is what has lead this program down the shitter in my opinion. These highly rated players are very commonly "me first" guys with rare exceptions such as a Tebow, RoJo, VY, etc. The way to keep this type of attitude in check is to have a winning culture (i.e. Alabama) the culture Saban has in place weeds these type of guys out very quickly. Trying to rebuild a winning culture around me first guys is a recipe for disaster as we have seen the last 11 years now. Texas needs to get its soul back. It's time to start getting guys that have potential, love this University, and don't shy away from hard work. Go find the RoJo's, Studdard's, McMichael's and surpass the Stearns, Moore's, Lampkin's. And for y'all that think hoarding talent is the only way, the fucking Naval Academy has more wins (85) running the goddamn triple option wishbone than Texas does since 2010.
  15. Maybe the strategy is to fall behind in the first half in hopes for the opposite in the 2nd half?
  16. So the defense is responding well to the motherfuckering.
  17. Are you kidding? Poona Ford and D'onta Foreman would set records vs this team. Swoopes would actually look good.
  18. If he's serious about the NFL he should portal. This team doesn't deserve him.
  19. You were saying? This team is beyond trash.
  20. If this team goes 4-8 is Sark one and done lol. This is the worst I've seen Texas in my lifetime (33 years)
