  1. I see Isbell tomorrow night and actually will meet him before the show for some media reasons. I’ll get his insight on Rodney Terry for everyone.
  2. Lufkin won its appeal and will be in District 9 5A D1, with some Beaumont schools, Barbers Hill, Galveston Ball, etc.
  3. Best episode in a couple seasons.
  4. I hate to be negative but this seems incredibly tough for an older person to handle and be able to take part in activities as the trip goes on. There is no way myself would ever want to do this type of trip. It is wayyyyyyy too much and you won’t see much anything of substance. You’re wasting a metric ton of time in packing and unpacking, travel from A to B, etc. if you’re somewhere three days you probably have 18 hours max in that city to explore. That’s a huge ask for a 76 year old. Or anyone.
  5. Rick Pitino goes after his team, names names, says they all suck and he hates coaching them. ““We are so unathletic that we can’t guard anybody without fouling. For me, I’ve always enjoyed the first year, and I’m not gonna lie to you; This is the most unenjoyable experience of my lifetime. This has been so disappointing.” “Look: Joel [Soriano] is slow laterally, he’s not fast on the court. Chris Ledlum is slow laterally, Sean Conway’s slow laterally. Brady [Dunlap] is physically weak, Drissa [Traore] is slow laterally,” https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39556235/fading-st-john-guard-anybody-rick-pitino-says
  6. We went out Friday night to dinner and to see Fortune Feimster (btw she’s funny as shit) at a theater within a 10 minute walk to the restaurant. We were in a winter storm warning for 4-8” snow and it had started to snow on the drive over. We live in the north, no major ordeal. We were waking away from the car and Mrs. Ace asked me to go back and get our snow brush/scrapper tool so we can have it with us to brush the car off when we return after the show. I told her no and that I would take care of the car when we get back like normal while she enjoys her seat warmer turned up to level 168 and scrolls TikTok. There is zero reason to carry around a foot long telescoping piece of plastic into a restaurant and theater. In shocking news, the theater told me the tool wasn’t allowed inside. Guess who didn’t volunteer to walk it back to the car.
  7. He won’t be in Mississippi next season anyway. This year is all gravy for him.
  8. Read up about Robert Rosenthal. Have a US flag nearby to wave as you do so. They had to have a different director for EP 5. The music and air scenes combined was a real ramp up. It also felt 10 minutes long, just a great, spellbinding episode. Hot take: this show is better without the Buck and Bucky bromance. It’s better when we focus on the other soldiers. Next week it looks like we get some resistance action!
  9. I haven’t laid attention to the NBA since ~2007 or so and have a question and an observation from this thread. 1) why are they limiting his minutes so drastically? 2) he moves like he’s barely working. His body isn’t taking much abuse and his size play speed allows him to create space that’s out of reach for virtually every other human.
  10. He’s lost a shit ton of weight. I wonder if he’s on some medication.
  11. Is there any set plan on replacing the ugly as fuck turf field? It’s an abomination for Texas baseball to have that carpet.
  12. EP2 may have been a top 10 worst episode in the entire series. Just awful.
  13. He can look like Bob Stoops for all I care as long as he continued to write masterpieces. Exit Ed fi the tour he’s starting this week.
  14. Larry is on this week’s Conan podcast. It’s tremendously fun.
  15. IIRC the mission basically turned out to worthless too as attacking that facility did extremely little to hinder the German capability to manufacture ammunition since they spread out and divided up plants. Such a shame, but a lack of intelligence recon and planners not seeing ground truth probably was the culprit WW2 featured way too much of WW1’s horrific mindset of throwing countless bodies away for tiny, incremental at best leverage.
  16. The sex hookup was good. That was a major issue. The Red Cross had to set up triage centers in London cause so many soldiers on weekend passes got VD. Also I second the idea of a show dedicated to the vast and far reaching people snuggling operations of the war. Between those helping downed Allies and the Dutch helping thousand upon thousands of Jews - it’s a story ripe for great TV.
  17. Her last album was a (very great) breakup album so this is the least surprising news ever.
  18. My review No real difference than last season. A few good laughs but a far cry from earlier seasons (except 9 - good god that one sucked).
  19. BoB wasn't long for Buckeye - he's going to be named the new head coach at Boston College. https://www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/2024/02/former-penn-state-coach-bill-obrien-likely-to-leave-ohio-state-for-boston-college-report.html
  20. I was at a brewery Saturday wearing a UT hat. A guy came up to me, asked if I was from Texas and when I said I was born and raised there but moved here (to Pennsylvania) in the mid 2000s once I realized the writing was on the wall for the state. That fucker goes, "You have a lot of help coming to fight at the border." He then walked away. I wanted to laugh in his face but was too dumbfounded.
  21. Autocorrect, and I'm basically blind so I miss some stuff. Sorry.
  22. This is a tremendous watch. It’s about the one night recording of We Are The World, to benefit Africa. What Quincy Jones did to pull this off was epic. Kenny Roger’s was the coolest dude in a room full of cool dudes - didn’t expect that.
