  1. Hard not to root for the Goldees guys
  2. @baboso - thanks for these. We're in DC pretty often but never eat anywhere around the cemetery or Clarendon. @Wally Pryor - all my grandparents are buried there. One was a brigadier general, one a clonal. Their wives didn't work. We are lucky to have a pass to drive into Arlington so every time we head to dinner or meet friends we can pop in and say hi to them all. It's a special place, indeed.
  3. Was in Sarasota last weekend and the heat index was 105 and I wanted to cancel myself. It rem8nded me of East Texas summers and why I bolted north as soon as I could. Y’all be safe. Hydrate.
  4. WI is al lake trout that has a lot of scum to burn off, hence the fireballs. WI is a weird place.
  5. Next Saturday we're burying my grandmother at Arlington. I need to find a lunch spot for 5-7 people that we can drive to and park at with 2 or 3 different cars, and prefer not having to go into DC proper and dealing with garages/street parking rules/regulations/etc. They're going to be full of stress so trying to mitigate any blowups. I know of Quarterdeck, but any other options around the cemetery? I know DC proper well, but not restaurants out in the outskirts (if it helps we'll be headed back to PA afterward)
  6. Gail is a GOAT. I don’t know why but I left it on for the after show with Andy Cohen and Tom and Gail said the dude with the hat this season was the one of the worse people ever on the show.
  7. Speaking of Padma; she has started a lingerie line and models it on IG.
  8. Glad ks over. Next season should actually be worldwide.
  9. Renewed for a 2nd season, with 6 episodes.
  10. That does suck. I really want to see this too - we’ll catch in late July when we are back in town. I’ll try to get there at 10 so we don’t have a long queue (we aren’t members since we don’t go often)
  11. Not me, a friend. I don’t think he cares, just something non generic he doesn’t come across around Boston.
  12. Eater has a great video about Barbs. It’s worth a watch. I want to go there …
  13. Friend is in town next week for two days. He wants BBQ, Tex Mex and a steakhouse. Plus a bar or two. Hit me up aside from Goldees, Heim and Panther City. And Billy Bob’s. Been a long time since I was in Fort Worth.
  14. Watching Tom's facial expressions is the only redeeming part of this season. His disdain for these chefs is palatable and for good reason. They have no creativity or advanced skills to pull of said creativity. Just bad luck of the draw.
  15. I live in Pennsylvania. The Dickey’s here probably is better.
  16. A coworker was in Houston this week and wanted brisket Monday. I didn’t know he was there and he didn’t asked my opinion. He went to Demeris. This was his tray as it was handed to him. I’d have demanded my money back and a word with the “pitmaster.”
  17. This past weekend we saw Cabaret, Enemy of the People, Mary Jane and Uncle Vanya. Cabaret is kinda a mess because the role of Christopher is a fucking horrible actor choice that takes everything away from the show. The pre-show stuff was a clusterufck too. Jeremy Strong in Enemy of the People is worth admission, just like Rachel McAdams in Mary Jane. MJ isn't the strongest play but she does amazing work and I think she deserves the Tony over Sarah Paulson (although Appropriate is a much, much better play and should win for best revival). I loved, loved, loved Uncle Vanya but you have to like Chekhov and dark plays probably to fully get/appreciate it. Steve Carell was good but William Jackson Harper stole that stage. Damn was he impressive. Had dinner Friday at Ci Siam. It was good but really, really salty. Brunch Saturday was a little place called Sonnyboy off Essex that was pretty good and a nice, casual vibe. Our usually between show stop Saturday at As Is for a few beers and some pretzels and fries. Sunday drinks at Valerie. We're up next in July to see Stereophonic, Illinoise, Oh Mary and something off broadway we haven't decided on yet (we've seen every other show on Broadway playing).
  18. The hubris to make risotto on Top Chef is very, very high.
  19. Are there any battery operated ones that warm the water? Have a toilet I’d love to have on but no power near and the water is cooooold here in PA out of the pipe.
  20. Losing your crew is an impressive feat of shitty driving. And Vinny needs to be beaten.
  21. If Ryan Reynolds ever approaches you with an investment opportunity, leap. That dude is Midas.
  22. Belle and Sebastian last night in Philly. I think it’s my 14th show to see of theirs dating back to 1998. Always a lovely dance party. IMG_2298.mov
  23. Worthy + Maholmes = improvised greatness
  24. My boy Trey Owens is better than Bo Nix.
  25. Bo Nix at 12. hhahahhaahahahahahhahaha hdhskakkksjahhahahahahahahahahhhahahahahahhahahahahaha
