  1. Whoah whoah... save some runs for the rest of the series.
  2. When you’re grubbing at a night market give the Taiwanese version of takoyaki a spin. I actually enjoyed it more than the Japanese version, way more emphasis placed on creating crispy edge/texture.
  3. Anyone want to invest with me and create some Dear Leader meme coins?
  4. They post these messages like letters to Santa from little kids.
  5. He’s mine too… his staff/team used to send out these silly email newsletter (don’t even remember how I got on the list). And the fucking spin they would put on some of the items was ridiculous.
  6. Nooooo… don’t say their names.
  7. Bout time… those people been screwing Americans for far too long.
  8. Well If that guy is also a principled and pragmatic conservative, how about he don’t about to get married, buy a house, and have kids. Simple.
  9. Well that was no fun
  10. I wasn't too confident in my ability to drive/park through the narrow streets getting there, so I had someone else drive, it is pretty darn picturesque though. Plus if you're driving, you owe it to yourself to head south afterwards and grab some lunch and explore around Cascais.
  11. Regarding, people should do their research. While I get the sentiment, the problem is that when someone is a novice/beginner to a topic... with how chaotic the internet can be, it's not a sure thing what people are researching is accurate.
  12. What's your point of view on why this and other right of center economist focus on tax rates?
  13. I really hope Dubner has another economist back on the show as a rebuttal to this episode.
  14. Don't know how many of y'all heard this episode on Freakonomics recently, where the guest was Jessica Riedl. I... thought it was really interesting some of the claims she made, especially that the US is taxing the billionaire class on par with Europe and not taxing the middle class enough. I know there are people here, much more knowledgeable about this than I am, so I would love to hear some thoughts from the community about this. 15. I was aaaaalmost sympathetic till his use of gang bangers. Also the truth is your god is punishing you for being a dipshit.
  16. SIGH….
  17. Not too good at this hitting thing so far…
  18. Great catch Jake and JV-like from Brown!
  19. It wasn't focused on evangelicals, but the study took place in the US, and it's likely the participants adhered to your typical Judeo-Christian believes and practices. They didn't focus on denomination but rather looked on belief in God, religious commitment, and frequency of religious practice.
  20. Interesting research on the idea that feeling forgiven by God (authors focused on Judeo-Christians) can make you less likely to apologise to others. Giving people a sense of inner resolution makes them less likely to resolve conflicts, I guess, on the Earthly realm, but it can also boost gratitude and humility, which could produce heartfelt expressions when apologizing to others. It's just one study, but fascinating to me as a non-Christian. The cynical side of me can't help but think this may explain a reason why some American Christians act with such ease when being... fucking pricks and non-Christian like. Maybe I'm still giving some people too much credit that they even feel guilty and ask God for forgiveness. High level, the study found two causal or psychological processes... Self-Focused Pathway (hinders apology) and Other-Focused Pathway (facilitates apology). The self-focused pathway dominated the sample. The other-focused pathway, weaker and conditional, depended on factors like religiosity and belief in God. Divine forgiveness reliably increased self-forgiveness, reducing the perceived need to apologize. Gratitude and humility, activated in more religious individuals, counteracted this effect, leading to more apologies. Consequently, divine forgiveness had no direct effect on apology behavior due to the opposing pathways canceling each other out.
