  1. Really looking forward to the day when the Stros have a replacement for Jake/Chaz.
  2. I love all their modern approach to Haggis as well. Especially when it’s deep fried. My dad’s high school classmate immigrated to Edinburgh from Malaysia… this is his charming little neighborhood place. Good full Scottish there:

For those planning your upcoming visits, if y’all have the time head up to the mountains. Easily 10 degrees cooler and some amazing groves of old growth forests and great hiking for all levels. Not to mention some fantastic variety of tea and coffee tasting. Coffee is still super niche compared to tea, but I had some amazing craft coffee in Taiwan.

Ooomph, it’s gonna be Houston-level muggy and hot. But thank goodness for all the yummy food and drinks.
  5. Fewer international travel An easy one but hard to do especially when I'm feeling tired/lazy to cook is ordering takeout/delivery on the weekends.

These? What I crave above all else is the fried chicken.
  7. I think it's fair to say at this point that GIF and it's use from people has created it's own meaning, rather as some sort of commentary on Amin's actions.
  8. At least it wasn’t a shooting. Progress!
  9. I think you’re spot on. But what’s scary is he has a willful misunderstanding of what tariffs are. Trade deficit = bad and that’s enough for him to see it as a weakness. And there’s a lot of damage that has/can/will occur for this bet to pay off and most likely universally pissing off allies so that they’re actively seeking new trade partners thus losing assumed leverage. Wonderful. Also what’s the payoff even if he gets some wins? That I’m not too clear on other than a generic, somehow he and his are grifting off this. There hasn’t been much investment in this country that he can Thanos snap the type of manufacturing he has in his head back in this country. Killing the CHIPS act shows he’s not serious about manufacturing that the US should be investing in either.
  10. Whoah whoah... save some runs for the rest of the series.

When you’re grubbing at a night market give the Taiwanese version of takoyaki a spin. I actually enjoyed it more than the Japanese version, way more emphasis placed on creating crispy edge/texture.
  12. Anyone want to invest with me and create some Dear Leader meme coins?
  13. They post these messages like letters to Santa from little kids.
  14. He’s mine too… his staff/team used to send out these silly email newsletter (don’t even remember how I got on the list). And the fucking spin they would put on some of the items was ridiculous.
  15. Nooooo… don’t say their names.

Bout time… those people been screwing Americans for far too long.
  17. Well If that guy is also a principled and pragmatic conservative, how about he don’t about to get married, buy a house, and have kids. Simple.
  18. Well that was no fun
  19. I wasn't too confident in my ability to drive/park through the narrow streets getting there, so I had someone else drive, it is pretty darn picturesque though. Plus if you're driving, you owe it to yourself to head south afterwards and grab some lunch and explore around Cascais.
  20. Regarding, people should do their research. While I get the sentiment, the problem is that when someone is a novice/beginner to a topic... with how chaotic the internet can be, it's not a sure thing what people are researching is accurate.
  21. What's your point of view on why this and other right of center economist focus on tax rates?
  22. I really hope Dubner has another economist back on the show as a rebuttal to this episode.
  23. Don't know how many of y'all heard this episode on Freakonomics recently, where the guest was Jessica Riedl. I... thought it was really interesting some of the claims she made, especially that the US is taxing the billionaire class on par with Europe and not taxing the middle class enough. I know there are people here, much more knowledgeable about this than I am, so I would love to hear some thoughts from the community about this. The podcast episode: Ten Myths About the U.S. Tax System
  24. I was aaaaalmost sympathetic till his use of gang bangers. Also the truth is your god is punishing you for being a dipshit.
