  1. Great catch Jake and JV-like from Brown!
  2. It wasn't focused on evangelicals, but the study took place in the US, and it's likely the participants adhered to your typical Judeo-Christian believes and practices. They didn't focus on denomination but rather looked on belief in God, religious commitment, and frequency of religious practice.
  3. Interesting research on the idea that feeling forgiven by God (authors focused on Judeo-Christians) can make you less likely to apologise to others. Giving people a sense of inner resolution makes them less likely to resolve conflicts, I guess, on the Earthly realm, but it can also boost gratitude and humility, which could produce heartfelt expressions when apologizing to others. It's just one study, but fascinating to me as a non-Christian. The cynical side of me can't help but think this may explain a reason why some American Christians act with such ease when being... fucking pricks and non-Christian like. Maybe I'm still giving some people too much credit that they even feel guilty and ask God for forgiveness. High level, the study found two causal or psychological processes... Self-Focused Pathway (hinders apology) and Other-Focused Pathway (facilitates apology). The self-focused pathway dominated the sample. The other-focused pathway, weaker and conditional, depended on factors like religiosity and belief in God. Divine forgiveness reliably increased self-forgiveness, reducing the perceived need to apologize. Gratitude and humility, activated in more religious individuals, counteracted this effect, leading to more apologies. Consequently, divine forgiveness had no direct effect on apology behavior due to the opposing pathways canceling each other out. 4. Good to see the team able to add on
  5. I'll take the run but come on Jake, do better!
  6. Stop debasing the good people at ICE just doing their jobs.
  7. In that it’s never been cracked open?
  8. I really hope John Turturro find the interest and energy to return for one more season, otherwise that's a really unsatisfying way for Irv to exit the show.
  9. Yeah, at the Paley event, they discussed about different choices and tells that they're pretty sure and/or pleasantly surprised fans will pick up on which moment is Helly/Helena. Lower didn't go into details of the acting choices but referenced how her and Stiller worked on the struggling to turn the computer on as one tell.
  10. Emmylou last night covering some of Nanci’s hits at the LA Folk Festival… IMG_1977.mov IMG_1978.mov
  11. Bingo! Love someone captured and posted the better Tramell video, the crowd went bonkers when he showed up.
  12. Well this was an amazing experience. in no particular order: amazing to watch the episode in a theater with other fans Dan Erickson was working a temp job in a… door company (not sure if he was joking or not but the question was about his gig before his big break) Trammell Tillman appeared with the USC marching band Britt Lower and Zach Cherry apparently has a podcast about food? She also mentioned Helly likes eggs in S1 and Helena doesn’t in S2 First day of filming the fight, Darri and Adam messed up on the choreography and Adam was tossed into the wall for maximum impact so amazing… wish the pics were better but I was up in the mezzanine
  13. Yeah, I get it. Just surprised me because the people I know in this field are generally caring people and a big part of why they get into the profession. And hey! I resent that grad school jargon dig. 😁
  14. Saw a guy jump off a parking garage in downtown Houston after his attempt to drive his car through the railing failed. It was surreal seeing him fall like a rag doll.
  15. How can someone in the caring profession be this… uncaring?
  16. I’m sure he likely expected it and he was still disappointed by it.
  17. Lol, a good friend is a producer for the channel. He’s equally bemused and a bit down over the hate on Twitter for the video.
  18. She's too good of an actress to simply box her in with what she was provided.
  19. Not a F1 fan at all, but this could be fun to watch in theaters.
  20. I’m down for some dark poetry side track… The Hollow Men by TS Elliott We are the hollow men We are the stuffed men Leaning together Headpiece filled with straw. Alas! Our dried voices, when We whisper together Are quiet and meaningless As wind in dry grass Or rats' feet over broken glass In our dry cellar Shape without form, shade without colour, Paralysed force, gesture without motion; Those who have crossed With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom Remember us-if at all-not as lost Violent souls, but only As the hollow men The stuffed men. II Eyes I dare not meet in dreams In death's dream kingdom These do not appear: There, the eyes are Sunlight on a broken column There, is a tree swinging And voices are In the wind's singing More distant and more solemn Than a fading star. Let me be no nearer In death's dream kingdom Let me also wear Such deliberate disguises Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves In a field Behaving as the wind behaves No nearer- Not that final meeting In the twilight kingdom III This is the dead land This is cactus land Here the stone images Are raised, here they receive The supplication of a dead man's hand Under the twinkle of a fading star. Is it like this In death's other kingdom Waking alone At the hour when we are Trembling with tenderness Lips that would kiss Form prayers to broken stone. IV The eyes are not here There are no eyes here In this valley of dying stars In this hollow valley This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms In this last of meeting places We grope together And avoid speech Gathered on this beach of the tumid river Sightless, unless The eyes reappear As the perpetual star Multifoliate rose Of death's twilight kingdom The hope only Of empty men. V Here we go round the prickly pear Prickly pear prickly pear Here we go round the prickly pear At five o'clock in the morning. Between the idea And the reality Between the motion And the act Falls the Shadow For Thine is the Kingdom Between the conception And the creation Between the emotion And the response Falls the Shadow Life is very long Between the desire And the spasm Between the potency And the existence Between the essence And the descent Falls the Shadow For Thine is the Kingdom For Thine is Life is For Thine is the This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a whimper.
  21. Japan should be on the forefront of this research. It’s disgusting how much single use plastic they consume.
