My brain still hasn't adjusted to what a good season might look like in the BIG and SEC now. Look at the number of BIG coaches mentioned in that article. Conference realignment has led to a consolidation of not just money but also player and coaching talent. In the BIG tOSU and Oregon are elite. PSU and Iowa have been good recently and hired new OCs to try and make that next jump. NU, Wisconsin, Washington, MSU, USC all hired coaches with proven winning backgrounds. Indiana, Rutgers, and Minnesota have reasons for optimism with their coaches. I think 13-14 teams in the conference all believe they could be winning 8 games a year within a couple of seasons, and they aren't completely crazy for thinking that.
I use the BIG in the above example only because I'm more familiar with it. My assumption is the same could be said for the SEC. 7-5 and 8-4 might be pretty solid seasons for the next decade unless you are one of the top 2-3 elite teams in either conference. All obvious thoughts, but I still need to remind myself to adjust expectations for the upcoming season.
