  1. Career-wise, Izzo is a notch or two below K, Roy Williams, Self, etc...I am by no means belittling his body of work. I do take issue with the whole "Izzo magic" at this point given the recent history. Yeah he can throw together a great team every once in awhile, but outside of those outliers, it seems like he's lost his fastball in terms of getting more out of less. And it's not just Izzo. I thought for years the last 7-8 years of K's career he just managed to pull in top recruiting classes and the talent gap did most of the work where earlier in his career it seemed like the Duke players grew their games under his coaching.
  2. Yes they did, after 4 years of pure mediocrity. Izzo didn't earn his rep being above average once every five years (and we've yet to see how the 1 plays out in the postseason). Maybe that would be fine if he were starting out and building MSU from rock bottom, but they're supposed to be a tier or two below perennial contenders, not one year out of five look like a team that should make it past the round of 32.
  3. 15-13, 23-13, 21-13, 20-15 the previous 4 years till now. He hasn't gone full Mack Brown yet, but all this "you don't want to see a Tom Izzo team in March/Tom Izzo is a magician" narrative is purely coasting on legacy until proven otherwise at this point.
  4. Didn't Keatts have something in his contract where his tourny run last year automatically extended it?
  5. If nothing else, Pittsburgh just made it more expensive for Cincinnati to re-sign Chase.
  6. 4-year/$132 million extension after his current contract that pays him $18 million this year. Fuck ESPN and their misleading headlines.
  7. Nick Wright gonna blame everyone but Mahomes tomorrow, barring another Falcons-like collapse.
  8. Was there a realistic chance for GS to sufficiently re-tool over the next 1.5 seasons before Curry goes into the final year of his contract? Very doubtful. Might as well give this route a shot if ownership is willing to accept the payroll.
  9. No worries, their boosters will write another big check to make sure they can stay.
  10. Yeah, that offer did get reported by a number of respectable sources today. Yesterday however, it seemed like the few places you could find that were your typical pro-Yankee mouthpieces. For a while there, it seemed like Cashman/Steinbrenner were just throwing that out in public so they couldn't be accused of being cheap.
  11. Yankees alleged final offer was $760 million over 16 years.
  12. I'd expect Bama to roll SMU as well, but this is the equivalent of arguing over being the last team out in the March Madness bracket. Don't shit the bed repeatedly and it wouldn't be a discussion.
  13. 25 carries for 192 and 3TDs for Jeanty in Eugene earlier this year. Not saying they wouldn't have a tougher time running against those teams, but declaring they'll get blown out seems entirely premature.
  14. Napier might actually have options in terms of bringing in an OC now that he isn't a dead man walking into next season. He'll still probably fuck everything up by continuing to call plays.
  15. Good South Carolina barely pulls it out over Bad South Carolina.
  16. Aggy gonna sue for copyright infringement.
  17. The committee (and networks) would fall over themselves rushing to put Texas in the playoffs with a Manning at qb.
  18. Missed that. With all the hype they've been getting from ESPN, I just assumed their record was better.
  19. Extra lulz if they actually think the main issue is coaching and not the fact that everyone else is now participating in having a payroll.
  20. Arizona State, BYU, Iowa State, and Colorado are all 6-2 in-conference right now. Is there a scenario where Colorado wins next week and gets left out of the Big-12 championship game? If that occurred, I would think ESPN et all would back more Deion screen time over Ole Miss/4th SEC team.
  21. So, Lincoln jumped to the PAC because he didn't want to deal with the SEC, but now he can't handle the Big-10 either. Maybe the new Big 12 is more his speed.
  22. There's no sense arguing when the other side is sticking to the literal definition of "no chance." 99.9% of people understand what was meant by "no chance Texas misses the playoffs even with a loss to Aggie", but if someone wants to take it literally, sure. It might all be moot since there's "a chance" the world could end before the game.
  23. I doubt they really have a choice. Other schools will throw cash at all the coaching prospects, why go to the university that doesn't have its admin ironed out?
  24. Qualifier, I'm not saying this isn't a bad situation. It's absolutely a horrific spot. However, Hitler was bent on conquering other countries and building an empire. Trump, at his core, although petty and childish, wants to play golf and enrich himself financially. Yes, Stephen Miller, Elon Musk, et all have their own agendas as well, but it won't be as focused or destructive as say, invading the rest of the continent and starting another World War.
  25. I think he's strictly referring to the office is president, which I might actually agree with. Assuming the Republican candidate rattled off all the standard stances, regardless of how insane it might sound coming from a gay or transgender individual, I think a very high percentage of Republican voters pull the lever on election day. Democratic voters are the ones who keep looking to a reason to not vote for the party candidate, or at the very least complain about it. You can say it's admirable in that they hold their candidates to a higher standard, but the reality is that's a net negative when the other side doesn't follow the same rules.
