The announcers just completely glossed over Heupel being a moron and letting 8 seconds run off the clock before calling time out, but because SEC refs, they just put the time back on the clock.
Admittedly a mediocre game, but I always view the London games as a crap shoot in terms of who performs well. He also had some nice throws on the last fg drive to put them back up 6. Jets/Panthers Darnold would absolutely have gone 3-and-out or had a horrific sack/turnover.
He made it to the bye week without turning into a pumpkin, now let's see if he puts the rest to good use. They have Detroit and the Rams after the bye, prime opportunity to shut the doubters up.
I would seriously doubt he backslides that far. His time as starter was with two complete trainwrecks of organizations, with maybe 1 year of competent coaching between those two stints. He also never had offensive weapons/support like he does this year.
No, I don't think he's one of the best qbs in the league, which his stats might say right now, but he's not going to crater into the qb that we saw in New York or Carolina either.
Giving Ward time to think leads to him making dumb ass plays like the pick-6. Don't know why the announcers are claiming giving him time to think is a bad thing.
Billy might hire an OC if he survives the season, but he'll demand the OC stick to his "system" because since the dink and dunk worked in the Sunbelt, it'll work at Florida. Under no circumstances should he be given another year.
Napier should be gone before the end of the season along with Stricklin.
At least the team is making it clear that this isn't working out and won't get better with time.
