it sounds like there isn't really a consensus on what the acting Speaker can and can't do.
It's designed to be short-term, until someone is elected. But how long that is is up to interpretation.
Awesome. Give the two sides something else to fight about. CSPAN ratings going through the roof in the short-term.

where are you reading that?
"Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry of North Carolina will now temporarily lead the House of Representatives after the speaker's position was vacated on Tuesday.
McHenry, who is a top ally of Kevin McCarthy, was appointed speaker pro tempore.
His name was on a list McCarthy was required to give to the clerk in case of a vacancy.
The speaker pro tempore, which is the official title, can only recess the House, adjourn the chamber and recognize speaker nominations."

Hmmmmm..... isn't the smart play by GOP to not have another vote and just move on with business as usual with McHenry up there? I am trying to understand incentive to bother with another vote.
McHenry can only do 3 things as speaker pro tempore:
- recess the House
- adjourn the chamber
- recognize speaker nominations
They can't do shit without a speaker...which I guess is business as usual for this group.
-
FFS can they move and talk any slower? They took their sweet ass time giving people time to change their mind and save McCarthy.

Both LSU and Florida gonna fire their coaches the day after they play in November at this rate.

Honestly, going for it on 4th and 8 there instead of punting sounds semi-reasonable based on how the rest of this game has gone.

I don't understand how you can reverse based on that.
All evens out in the end. The missed calls on Henry TD were way more egregious than this reversal.

Some lineman from Florida threw a punch there and is going to have a nice suspension to show for it. Tennessee guy knew what he was doing, just kept backing up and jawing, trying to get him to do something stupid.

They've gone full aggy.
Full Aggy would be getting into a bidding war for Jimbo once Saban steps down.

17 points against USF, 7 of which were in pure garbage time, with Todd Orlando as opposing DC. Orange slices and juice boxes for everyone.

Dumb throw
4D chess. Get Bama on their own 20 and give Simpson the chance to throw a pick-6 or take another sack and fumble.

Milroe is going to be a good QB for someone next season. This is stupid by bama.
Doubt it. He'll probably stay at Bama if they give him the starting job back for the rest of the season. Then he has a chance at being good next season, but really he looks like he needs more then just 1 year to really figure everything out.
If he doesn't get the starting job back next week/very soon, then yeah, he probably transfers, but there's no way he magically figures everything out by next year without playing and becomes a good qb for someone else.
-
Fuck it, Bama should just punt now. South Florida will continue to be a complete shitshow on offense, they'll run the ball again on 4th and X regardless of where they are, fail again, and Bama will flip the field.

Saban is doing this on purpose. He is showing the Bama sky screamers exactly what the Alabama QBs are., and what he has to choose from. Milroe is the best option that they have, and not a bad QB, just needs some time in the saddle.
Jalen on deck?
If so, bold strategy by Saban to remove all doubt that he's absolutely been trash at qb recruitment and development for years, and Bryce Young just provided him a few extra years of cover.

They both look like shit so far.
When was the last time we had a Thursday game where both teams looked competent? Shortened preseason only made the problem worse.

At this rate, I figure Hall's got about 3-5 more big runs in him before he tears both his ACLs on a non-contact play.

This just shows the darkness retreat is a sham...or at least pales in comparison to the curse surrounding the Jets franchise.

Don’t think he does if Monty stays healthy.
Gibbs is the new Pollard.
Slight disagreement. I think it'll be closer to a true timeshare like Williams and Swift last year unless Gibbs does something to piss off the coaching staff.

Yeah...not sure the they think Dallas fans would be happy to see Tyron Smith back in the game. Starters should have been pulled by now.,

Daniel Jones is gonna get his coach and gm fired.
Sucks for Daboll. Overachieved in year 1, made Jones look competent as a qb, and now is stuck with him.

Anybody else hopes this dude fails?
They didn’t even give Minshew a shot. Not unless there's a bunch of Tyreek Hill/Antonio Brown off-the-field issues that surface. If he succeeds, it will be because the Colts managed to correct his mechanics and footwork. I'm all for NFL franchises becoming more competent at developing the QB position so we get more high-ceiling guys at the position instead of trotting out Gardner Minshew to dink and dunk down the field.

New plan for getting rid of Putin. Fly him to Omaha right now and have a LSU fan challenge him to a jello shot drink off. He'll die of alcohol poisoning.

Does Boston not recall game 6 for them last series?
Philly fucked around for 90% of the game while Tatum was complete ass and got burned. Boston should be up 10-12+ at least, given how bad Jimmy and Bam have been.

Have you considered that he is simply a stupid motherfucker? Dude can hoop, but he's dumb as a pile of shit.
No one's ever confused the general pool of NBA players, or any pro sports players for that matter, with being rhodes scholars. But if nothing else, they generally seem to have a grasp of what it takes to stay out of the news off the court to keep the big paychecks coming until they physically break down.

99% sure he could try to be elected speaker again, but he gave up virtually everything possible the first time. What more could he offer the the crazies this time around?
