  1. I saw the game. Two of the interceptions were tipped -- one straight up into the air. 4 1/2 quarters isn't really enough game tape to render a decision on the guy, but coming out of camp he was ahead of Calzada by all accounts. He also appears to still hold the season record for passing yards in a game -- which would have been set in his first game against Kent State. Calzada isn't good.
  2. Meaning what? 'Arm talent' hasn't exactly elevated Card to the next level...
  3. They may also have been 1 QB away from being undefeated. Calzada is not serviceable as an every-day SEC QB. Haynes King was the guy.
  4. That 'someone' was a zero-star, walk-on LB who has played exactly *zero* offensive snaps at his new position (FB) until last night. Ran a drag across the goal line and snagged a pass that was thrown completely behind him. So when the argument is made about our talent pool not being as-good-as-the-ratings-said-back-in-2019, it just rings a bit hollow. We got beat by a zero-star walk-on LB catching a pass from a 3 star QB filling in as the emergency QB -- and who incidentally was ranked 47 spots behind... Hudson Card. The players have given up. Time for a complete tear-down and rebuild.
  5. ^^^^THIS And the tired narrative of "well we had a good class, but where are they now?" What team has an intact recruiting class from 3 years ago on the 2-deep? Missing on evaluations, failure to develop, medical retirements happen at EVERY.DAMN.PROGRAM. This is not something unique to Texas. The issue here is the neverending focus on the skill positions in an era where the offense and defense are built from the inside-out. Alabama has very mediocre skill position players this season, but continues to perform at a high level because of their line experience. Notice they have exactly ONE sophomore (and no FR) on their starting OL. It's understandable that being "O-line U" isn't as glamourous as "DB U" or "QB U," but having a 5* RB means nothing if they can't get out of the backfield. SEC teams have figured out how to recruit and develop the lineman. Texas has not.
  6. Was that a rhetorical question? The SEC has the top undefeated, 1-loss, 2-loss, and 3-loss teams in the CFP rankings... 1. Georgia (9-0)2. Alabama (8-1)11. Texas A&M (7-2)17. Auburn (6-3)
  7. The only 'reckless money' spent on the HC position has been right here. Over $70mil in salaries and buyouts for Strong/Herman/Sark in the last 7 years. That's way more than Jimbo's contract.
  8. Hager is the counterpoint to the statement: "Hard work makes up for lack of raw talent."
