Contra: Infinite references on Surly and its predecessors to your little brother team, its fans, players, students, coaches and essence as “aggy” (never capitalized). My pore ole addled Alabama licker brane syndrome was so severe that I attended Rice. I hate and despise all things Auburn 10,000 times more than you loathe A&M. And I’m still pulling for Texas on Saturday. Clemson is nothing more than Auburn with a lake.
-
Fair enough but what Clemson does amounts to using artificial noise to subvert the QB’s signals, which IS against SEC rules, a la Miss State’s infernal cowbells.
-
I mean they’re blasting right up until the got damn center snaps the ball, and beyond. It usually causes 3-4 false starts per game.
-
The obnoxiously loud Clemson band always plays some dissonant unrhythmic bullshit tune when the opponent is on offense and they hold the final notes until way past the point of whatever that line is. Refs alwsys allowed them to get away with it each time we played them in CFP championship or semis. Nossir, I don’t like it. The DKR home crowd will more ghan make up for it.
-
Kirby/UGA has been playing the “D Line Pre Snap Shift” game ever since he has fuckingbeen at Georgia. Success quotient in inducing false starts has been high, penalties called rare. Nick coached our teams up on it and we beat them more often than not but the Offense has to be expecting the shift.

Until Sark findx a way to play Arch, Horns may start calling it the Red Ass Zone?
-
Talking heads on CBS Cover 3 this morning talked like the Surly SECCG string with overscheming Sark, Arch-less offense, Quinn shortcomings and FGs not TDs and Auburn’s missed FG kicks as dueling scapegoats. “UGA lost to UGA’s backup was a repeated theme. One guy daid he thought Quinn’s throwing mechanics have been off since the broken collarbone (when was that? ‘22?). Lots of harping on low yards per carry rushing while saying out the other side of his mouth how Texas has an elite O line.
-
Irish road stright to semis free pass. We can’t ssy a damn word about being “left out.” Just see this Sunday last year. Lose to Vandy and OU, don’t expect to get in the CFP. Simple as that. Wait till next year (sigh).

Well, well. Ain’t this a bitch? I grew tired of watching what was apparently going to be a big Clemson win, said fuck it snd went on to bed (yeah, yeah; I’m an old fart; get up early and go to bed early). What hath the morning brung us? 95% of the post-SECCG posts on here are negative to whiny to downright hostile vs Sark, Quinn, Auburn, the O Line, other Surly posters or all of the above. Then I read of SMU’s big comeback trumped by Clemson’s walkaway very long field goal. So, apparently now the Committee will not be able to find a way to justify sending Bama to be sacrificed in the Horseshoe or on the Golden Dome in the midst of a fucking winter storm. Well, you know what? Maybe we shouldn’t have shit the bed vs both Vandy AND Oklahoma? Maybe we don’t DESERVE to be in the CFP. At least the Texas Longhorns are IN the motherfucker. And if you’re IN IT you can WIN IT. Now, say ten Hail Marys, my sons. Go forth and sin no more. 11:00 will be here soon. The Bama weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth will be loud and long. The sidewalk fan chorus to THOW OUT THAT YANKEE DA BOWAH will begin anew. Well, as my Yankee childhood friends used to chant, “Damn, damn, damn-shit fadiddlehopper!” Wait’ll next year. I hope I’m wrong.😑- 7038 replies

Sark should starts Arch NOW -
Man, Steempy, those were the days. For a young student couple without many bucks, Jamie’s was the ticket. My wife and I loved Jamie’s. Delicious burgers and the best chips and salsa in town. Several amenities stood out. High quality beef and ingredients, no charge for refilld of iced tea or sodas, and the most efficient use of wait staff until the advent of phone apps 35 or 40 years in the future. Here’s the deal - When we were seated, the hostess handed us menus and our waitress took drink orders and placed two copper bowls of delicious house salsa and a big basket of thin, tasty, hot chips on the table. I always ordered the Owl burger, with lots of gooOoood bleu cheese embedded. Makes me salivate just thinking about it. Prices were reasonable for the era - say 15-20 for a nice dinner for two including chips, salsa, 8 oz ground sirloin burger, house salad, dessert, etc. I saved the best feature for last: after the initial trip to bring chips y salsa and take drink orders, you never had to look for waitstaff or tell them to stay away for a while so you could enjoy uour food. In the center of each table, built into the sugar caddy, was a miniature flagpole with a tiny movable-up-and-down Texas state flag. Ready to order? Raise the flag! Need more tea or chips or dessert? Raise the flag! Thus eliminating the hovering waitstaff. Annnd, Jamie’s had a hot fudge brownie a la mode do die for. We saved up to go to Jamie’s. I think it was razed in the 80s but not sure. Anyone ever eat at the Jamie’s in Houston? I think there was another in Dallas at one time, with them little orderin’ flags.

The “live” portion of Best In Show was a damn good parody of any Westminster Kennel Club Show.

Game Week 14, 2024- Texas v Georgia SEC Championship Game
Bama Llama replied to Wulaw Horn's topic in Football
And . . . Cover #32 like a fucking blanket on possession downs; and Bump #86 hard coming off the line; and Pop that Evil Tom Petty twin looking quarterback hard early and often. Get the bye and enjoy the next few weeks, Horns. You earned it and you richly deserve it. Maybe you’ll get to enjoy helping ND lose their religion. -
In middle and high school I was big and moderately tough but slow as a sloth. I did have rhythm and the ability to read music and play a horn. When football didn’t pan out, I was drafted to play French horn. To those who posted above about the 1999 LHB, I can say this. My high school band participated in the San Antonio band festival in 1967, headlined by the LHB. We trailed them along the parade route through miles of San Antonio. I heard and saw the LHB at a couple of Texas-Rice games in 1969 and 1970. I saw them again in 2010. Some marching bands have style and power and some can blow strong while staying in tune but usually not both. One thing never failed to give me goose pimples- the LHB playing The Eyes intro in perfect tune at a volume level of 11 on a scale of 10 max. Bama’s million dollar band always prided itself on precision and pitch. They could form up and do the halftime score. FWIW. The LHB was so good, I could never get comfortable at the Rose Bowl. Them guys are really good, with or without the huge ass drum. I’ll be listening and looking tonight. Listening to the band - looking at the asses of those chaps gals.

Y’all know I’m an Alabama Crimson Tide football fan through and through but after reading that, I hope CJ and every team he plays for has great success. It gives me hope to read the sincere, perceptive, ENLIGHTENED words of a serious college athlete. Bravo, C.J. Baxter and all those who inspired him to overcome whatever life throws his way.

Curt Cignetti just wants Indiana to get in. Shea Whigham has already signed on to play him in “I win. Google me!” coming soon from Universal. -
I like Wisky plenty. Talked to a lawyer this week who’s had W season tix for 35 years and faithfully attended. He is a loyal “Beddjer” (Fargo accent) fan but moaned their current QB is the worst they’ve had since he started going to games at Camp Randall. I did note in our game there the students disappeared completely after Jump Around. That’s not cool.

I’m with Old Nasty above only I’ll raise his statement from not giving up on America to not giving up on Humanity. The garment rending and teeth gnashing among us surely knew that one side must lose every election and you’re delusional to assume victory. Darrel Royal would kick anyone’s ass who assumed a win, and so would Paul Bryant. If a dear one dies of old age it should not be a shock. Pay your respects and move on. Take a couple of days off from news feeds if only to allow uourself to breathe. Don’t be so fearful of conversations with those whose statements may be distasteful. Say what you feel, but listen. Keep moving forward (Walt Disney). If you’re going through hell, keep on going (Churchill). Imagine no religion, above us only sky (Lennon). Stay in the game, don’t give away your future and that of your descendants to the unenlightened. Long live Jambi.

Fair enough. Never much been a fan of same color jerseys and pants other than all whites with some stripes on pants, with traditional headgear. Texas, Bama, Pedo State and Alldumb whites are classics to me, except Alldumb are disgusting, just because.
-
Back in the sixties, before the SEC decided visitors must wear white jerseys (except at LSU), Bama and Tennessee always played in solid colors in Birmingham. Blood red, pumpkin orange, green stadium steel, and vivid green grass. Nice contrast.

Maturation, fiscal awareness and the pursuit of knowledge >> masturbation, physical gratification and the pursuit of whores. We can always hope.

Brings to mind the immortal words of Howard Schnellenberger at his first press conference after being hired as head football coach of the Louisville (Loowavul) Cardinals: “The Louisville Cardinals are on a collision course with the national championship. The only variable is time.” Good old Howard. I believe his next stop was Blow U.

You guys fret too much. Just keep winning. When there’s no one left to play and Fowler and Herbstreit have finished yelling, take your trophy and put it in the case. Well done. It’s time to euthanize the conference championship games and their promoters. We didn’t miss them before 1992 and the segue from regular season to CFP post season games would make better sense. As a Bama fan, unless we can somehow win the SECCG and get a bye, all I want to see is my team in one of the 5-8 slots hosting a first round game. ND vs Bama in Tuscaloosa would be pretty cool, considering we were dead meat three weeks ago. -
A little Tiger perspective. Not sure when it was discontinued but I am certain that during most if not all of the Bryant years a caged tiger was parked at the field end of the visiting team’s tunnel so the players would literally have to pass the fucker to get onto the field as the LSU wacko hordes chanted “TIGER bait, TIGER bait, TIGER bait” ad nauseum. Old Mike most definitely knew how to growl. Animal cruelty and dangerous as shit, to boot. Like ghose asdholes at Auburn forcing our national bird symbol to perform stunts at Possum Hair Stadium, a known hive of scum and villaint. An outrage! Between 1969 and 2000, LSU won exactly zero times over Alabama in Baton Rouge. They do sell hot spicy boudin there. And the Golden Girls are somewhat attractive if you’re into sexual gymnastics and daydreaming. I hope someone has hypnotized Milroe not to get the yips. Could be a long night otherwise.
