  1. Lane’s latest Fred Thompson “This thing will get out of control” Red October moment.
  2. I can't watch this show in any way other than DVR then savor/watch the next night, ffwding through the annoying ads, which mess with my Saul zen. The blazing speed at which the end of the episode arrives is such a time warp it always leaves me loopy. Each scene, especially those with Lalo, Gus or Mike is so intense while you are watching, time moves like molasses but the episodes as a whole fly by. I'm also glad Lalo didn't pfft! pfft! the sad German frau or her badass "Kleine Bar." Tell me what's better anywhere on TV and I'll watch it. Bravo creators, directors, actors and sight and sound wizards.
  3. Glad Dave is uninjured, at least physically so, but shit now he’ll probably disappear on us for years again. Who could blame him? Tranny asshole.
  4. It’s only the biggest fuckin’ river in the state. Yeww doe know nuthin’. Then l’il painties, too! I asked it if Caesar. I demahnd it of you. Kneeeel. On yoah kneees!
  5. James Millhollin Played the officious Major Royal B. Demming, U.S. Army shrink in No Time for Sergeants “Your father . . . Living?”
  6. The world of Luc Beeson. Oldman’s Ross-Perot-Cooked-Arms-Dealer in the Fifth Element dominated the screen. Several vivid character actors in that film - Chris Tucker, Ian Holm, the six armed blue opera singer, “President”Tiny Lister.
  7. This series nails 1979 as well as Once Upon A Time In Hollywood nailed 1969. Bravo! And John C. Reilly for actor of the decade. Check It Out!
  8. No one dies but this one grabs me by the nuts and upper left ventricle every fucking time, especially when the bar girl sings out through her tears and then all join in, "AUX ARMS, CITOYENS! ARMEZ VOS BATTAILLONS! MARCH ON, MARCH ON, QU'UN SANG IMPUR, ABBREUVE NOS SILLONS!" "[The enemy's] impure blood will flow in the furrows!" Somewhere in Mariupol, they may still be playing the Ukrainian anthem if anyone is left there alive. Any a yinz don't like my poor spelling, kiss my ass.
  9. True that; and I failed to mention the protagonist, Josh Brolin’s doomed heroic turn. You want him to prevail and survive but Chigurr is the survivor. Time to revisit him, I believe. You call it.
  10. Caught "No Country for Old Men" again recently. I cannot stop watching it if I ever start. The tension in the scenes with Senor Bardem and his victims and would-be victims ("Call it.") are mesmerizing. Tommy Lee is a perfect world-weary county sheriff. The Coens are movie magic, from "Blood Simple" to whatever they did last. And those pure-dee 24k Texas accents, from store clerk man to trailer park office lady to motel office lady to chicken truck man to Carla Jean (born and raised in Glasgow but talked as if born and raised in Fort Stockton) and her mother ("I got the cancer"). IMHO best suspense and grit film in last 25 years. And no cell phones confusing the issue left and right.
  11. Why do ad execs think anyone wants to see an actor stuff a glob of food as big as a cabbage into their wide open mouth? I’m talking to you, Taco Bell, Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Arby’s, McD, BK, DiGiorno’sfolditsidewaysupmyass.
  12. Orgasmic schadenfreude rat cheer! This be Grade A Alldumb U war plainsman eagle tiggers bullshit. Shirley Q Liquor and Betty Butterfield must post a duet. Thujone must boot up the old MS Paint. And just what is corch Harbinger’s “character,” anyway? He really should not have smirked when he was a play away from beating us on his first try. Probably thinking about the Crochet Canal. “And so on the Plains it came to pass that nothing could be heard but the mirthless laughter of the damned.” Xenu, chapter 4 verse 99
  13. Richards in a helmet playing with army men and toy tanks and a sandbox was my favorite part of the show. Bruce Mahler made a headless plucked (real, not rubber) chicken “dance” on the end of his arm. Julia L-D and her memorable body were in the cast; I’ve always liked her snazzy vivacity. It had a certain humility that SNL didn’t, IMHO, at least at that time. Plus, it was on Friday.
  14. This exactly. Of such details watershed moments can happen. Colt McCoy turns slightly to his left or right on that fateful run early in the Rose Bowl and the present so-called Bama dynasty may never have happened. We'll never know. But hell, man don't flush college football just because the perfect way to decide a champion hasn't yet evolved. Give Sark a chance. Enjoy the seasons as they pass. NFL =/= college and that's good.
  15. If one picture is worth a thousand words, that exquisite compilation of sardonically irreverent shots across the bow of misfortune is worth a million words. Brafuckinvo, sir.
  16. 1. Audiobook of Mel Brooks' biography "All About Me!" Only about 30% through it and it's a real peach, better than I had expected. Mel must've recorded it within the past year and he's 95 fuckin years old. His voice is still strong and he's sharp as ever. Very engaging with some good backstory. 2. "The Lost City of the Monkey God," by Douglas Preston (nonfiction). Fascinating glimpse at a civilization which flourished in Central America independently of the Maya. Any intrepid traveler planning a back to nature visit to the jungles of Honduras should read this book before spending money or booking a flight. One word: Leishmaniasis (skin disease will fuck you up). Another word, hyphenated: Fer-de-Lance. Pizen snake will also fuck you up. It's a well done audiobook revealing the numerous obstacles to jungle archaeology, including but not limited to politics, drug cartels, deadly snakes, jaguars and diseases, monsoons, difficult topography and remote location, to name a few. There are payoffs to the curious reader - the advent of LIDAR and the discovery of strange sculptures and totemic shit at multiple sites. NATGEO has some articles too.
  17. My football memory goes back to 1959 and Coach Royal and Texas are right there with Coach Bryant and Bama. DKR and the Horns were the coach and team we just could not beat until the Rose Bowl in 2010. The 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl was a sister kissin tie, 3-3. 1965 Orange Bowl was a heartbreaking loss, 21-17 Texas. I can still see Ernie Koy all alone on the TV screen running forever on a long TD. DKR had the gotcha quote for that game. When asked how far Joe Namath was from the goal line in that game-deciding fourth down run, Coach said "About that far," giving the hook 'em sign. 1973 Cotton Bowl ended up Texas 17, Bama 13 adding a bitter conclusion the 1972 season and "Punt Bama, Punt" Iron Bowl debacle. My favorite DKR qoute was "Oh , there's gonna be some snot knockin' in the old okra patch today!" He was onr of a kind, true dat.
  18. Mrs. Llama (ever observant) zeroed in on it first time we saw the film - when it first released! Maybe that's why. Little Eddie was about four feet long on the big theater screen. Underrated scenes in film history: When Clark cries in the attic watching home movies, Mrs. L's eyes always get something in them.
  19. Reacher said nothing. The Lee Child solo written books are like oreos - one is not enough. I enjoyed listening to the audiobooks. Granted, the plot arcs are somehat predictable but the plot details are not. I enjoy pompous asses getting their comeuppance and how Reacher's investigator experiences help him adapt. Iand what book said he didn't have a schlong to mtach his stature?
  20. Elko sure coordinated a good game against Alabama. Pretty much built the template for making Bryce Young "uncomfortable." At least until the O line showed up. Glad his ass is in the ACC.
  21. Give your spare tire to a gypsy by the side of the road and fail to tell your family before the epic cross country vacation versus Lead a little kid into close proximity with an evil, biting monkey Eh, comme si - comme sa. Banks's insurance carrier best offer some serious cash asap. Of course, I write this while completely ignorant of any fact not spun out by Mark Schlabach. Nothing good comes out of penning up wild animals. No one should be surprised when innocents are harmed.
  22. Fair enough. I don't want to see it either.
  23. I see your point but what about this? Michigan beats OSU in the Big House and jumps from 5 to 2. Bama neuters UGA in Atlanta in front of 75% UGA fans and should jump up to 1. I'm fine with tossing UGA out of the top 4 but no way should Bama be anything less than 1. The committee will talk "body of work" and shit, tough, and keep UGA in at #3 to avoid a rematch in the semi. I guess we'll find out soon enough. You guys don't realize how important Metchie being out is. He has been THE guy for Bryce Young on key plays. We shall see, saith the blind man. Play ball!
  24. Greenland. Guy and his wife and diabetic young son race against time and an "Extinction level" earth strike by a 9-mile-wide comet fragment. They roll helter-skelter by land from Atlanta to Lexington (KY) to Canada, trying to make it to special survival bunker in Greenland. SFX and CGI very well done but not overdone. Aberrant, aggressive behavior of humans fighting for survival al too predictable. Pretty engaging for a Thanksgiving DVR save. Scott Glenn aces his supporting role as the wife's crusty old dad. Gerard Butler's Scots brogue distracts at times but the viewer identifies with his quandaries, which are many.
