  1. I’m optimistic about Maalik and the next few games, but not because of any Spring Game footage. Those passes were thrown against the backups on a pass defense that currently ranks 62nd in the country. You can’t infer a damned thing from that.
  2. Hopefully Maalik reads this thread so he knows what to do.
  3. My favorite posts are the ones that take one post and label it as collectively from “Surly” and then take a different post with the opposite opinion from a completely different poster and label it also from “Surly” as if they never expected different takes from a group of 10,000 or whatever assholes.
  4. Them doing well in the pros helps, but us being emotionally invested in their pro careers doesn’t. I’m in the “Wish them well and smile if I noticed they are doing good things” camp but I’m not actively following any of them and don’t care too much. Of course I feel the same about recruiting. I want us to have good players but not to the point I want to follow it and keep track of that shit.
  5. I’ve been watching prices all day on FB marketplace, Nextdoor, and the official Verified Resale. Most of the stuff on Marketplace is obvious scammers, brokers, or if legit it goes quick. The Verified Resale tickets through the ACL website are still very much available. Mostly the prices are high, but if you refresh it at the right time a lower priced one comes in eventually. Most of today the 3-day GA pass hovered from $450-$500. About an hour ago a random one popped up at $320 (plus some bullshit fees) and I snagged it. It’s another line to wait in at Will Call tomorrow but at least you know it’s legit and don’t have to go meet someone and hope to not wake up in a bathtub afterward with one less kidney.
  6. It’s impressive that she can outrun Kyler Murray, even if only for a block or two.
  7. The New York Times Daily podcast Did an episode about this not long ago. You’re right, we’re still feeling the effects of Reagan firing them all. And if they hired as many as they could right now, and trained them at the normal rate of training, it would still take decades before they get to full strength.
  8. This is the most important line of the article. It’s not an Austin problem, it’s an everywhere problem. There is a shortage of controllers and the ones we have are overworked. We need more controllers and they need the pay and work rules to attract and retain them.
  9. Yeah, that tired joke gets made on the PA on at least half the flights every day. Not making eye contact and leaving a bag on the seat has been SOP for just about everyone for many years.
  10. I thought this was gonna be a story about the car detailer with the tits out.
  11. So your girlfriend rolls a Honda…
  12. Haven’t thought of that movie in a long time. There’s only one thing I remember about it. Well three, technically.
  13. Now that’s a smooth move right there. Perfectly subtle and almost unnoticeable.
  14. Why the YouTube format? The only time I ever listen to anything is driving or working out. For me it’s only podcast, music, or audiobook. I’m not tuning in to YouTube to watch a show.
  15. This is the best start we’ve had in 15 or so years and I’m pissed about it!!!!!
  16. My section definitely thought it was terrible, cringy, and completely fucking outstanding. Loved it. It’s kind of like state fair food, complete dogshit but damn if I don’t want more of it. The lightning bolts from Ricky and Earl zapping those chubby little dudes into minotaurs of death is right up there with Citizen Kane.
  17. 34-0. 308 from the RBs. Arch gets in the game.
  18. I think football fans in general vastly overestimate a quarterbacks ability to put a ball to an exact spot. More often than not, it was the receivers adjustments that made it look like the ball arrived in the exact spot it needed to be. A subtle slant to the left or right, a little acceleration or deceleration to make the timing work. Worthy was just crossing the 30 yard line when Ewers let go of that ball. A few yards left or right and Worthy would’ve been there and made it look just as perfect. Ever watch those quarterback competitions in the off-season, where they’re trying to hit stationary and moving targets? Even the historically great quarterbacks end up looking like Jim Bob at the state fair midway when there isn’t a live human to make adjustments on the other end.
  19. The better we get the more they’re gonna hate us. I want to see Horns down by the hundreds of thousands this year and every year. In the stands, on the TV, over and over… never had bothered me one bit.
