  1. The only time they are not allowed to ring them is from when the center steps over the ball until the play is whistled dead. All other times are free game. I've been to a few games there and in-person there is usually a noticeable lull in the ringing for most plays but always some left who ring it the whole play. I think on TV it sounds more constant than in person. Maybe more bells near the mic or something. They absolutely know how obnoxious it is and they love how much everyone else hates it. The penalty is just fines for each game they are deemed to have broken the rule. Students don't give a fuck about that so they just keep ringing and the school pays the fine.
  2. That's the number one goal of the run game. You don't get to use it as some sort of exception when it's exactly what the whole point is.

  4. He's a straight shooter with upper management written all over him.
  5. Things that are already great shouldn't be fucked with. There's no way that those taste better than OG Reese's or Oreos.
  6. Not if I chose them wisely.
  7. I made the gradual shift from race geometry to endurance over a period of several years. Caad 10 to Cervelo RS to Giant Defy. I don’t think I ever noticed the subtle changes in the moment on the bike, but I do think I feel better after rides on the relaxed geometry of the Defy. I was a late convert to electronic, shifting too, got ultegra di2 for the first time a couple years ago on the Defy. The difference is wow.. never knew I was missing that. I’m perfectly happy with mechanical shifting on a mountain bike that’s bouncing along and banging on stuff anyway. But a crisp electronic shift on a smooth road is fucking glorious. That little “vvvvt” sound makes me smile.

  9. I take mine out of the pool about once a month to clean the leaves off the filters.
  10. I don’t know how you guys can do this to yourselves for two days straight.
  11. UW had 10 players drafted that year to our 11. They had the better QB. They had 3 first rounders and 2 second rounders. How is the talent edge decidedly in our favor there? Edit... Maybe you meant them as even with us there and I misread it.
  12. Then why have't they?
  13. It's the old "Let's wait for the outcome to decide if this is a big game or not" stance.
  14. When Arch (or Quinn) is on the sidelines you get to see the moments the TV producer decides they want you to see and only those exact moments. Making a judgment based on those combined 30 seconds of sideline footage in a +3 hour game is a lame lazy take.
  15. If the tables were turned and we beat them 14-7 and all their offensive stats were actually ours we'd be happy about the win but bitching about the performance for sure.
  16. I remember another young Texas qb losing in ugly fashion to Ohio State early in his career and turning out ok.
  17. Devil's advocate: If we get a game under our belt to tighten things up before Ohio State, they also get a game or two to tighten things up before us. They had their own problems looking sloppy today too.
  18. There are worse teams to lose by 7 to.
  19. Why would you take away the 13 yarder? If you took away something good he wouldn't be very good? He looked like ass today but if you were expecting Vince Young that's on you. Unless you meant the Vince Young that got shut out by OU early in his career.
  20. The schedule worked out just fine for Ohio State and their freshman qb.
  21. Were the body-language armchair psychologists out today overanalyzing every 5 second snippet of Arch sitting quietly on the bench between drives? Or is that reserved only for Ewers?
  22. Corso is gonna go on about Ohio State being his first pick and here he is in the same spot for the bookend pick and get the crowd all riled up and then.. Not so fast my friend... Horns.

That's the same gif I sent to my kid when he told me about this today, except I used the Silvio version. I'm in for The Killers.

  25. That must have been a long time ago. Gate checks going to baggage claim has been the policy for many years (except strollers, car seats, etc..). You might have lucked out randomly once or twice and they put the wrong tag on it or something. I don't recall ever seeing an ordinary suitcase being brought up to the jetway unless it was tagged as having a c-pap or something in it. That's usually a regional jet thing where the bins are so small that nearly everyone has to gate check so they bring them all up. Agreed that the new process sucks so far. The algorithm telling them when the bins will be full seems to have a quick trigger finger. The whole thing is an effort to reduce the turn times and avoid the delays from when people would get on with a suitcase and spend 10 minutes going all the way to back looking for bin space before having to go back upstream to gate check it right at departure time. I get the intent, but clearly the algorithm needs work. I've noticed a few people lately walk down with a gate-check tag on the suitcase simply remove the tag and board with it with bin space still available.
