  1. That happened in my LX470. You can find the actuators on eBay. I did the driver side and it wasn't too bad. You have to take the interior panel off and to get to it. But the passenger side was going out too and I haven't gotten around to that one yet. It works sporadically most of the year but with the summer heat it almost never locks the passenger door. The big problem is that the alarm logic thinks the car is locked but the passenger door will open right up, which of course triggers the alarm. It's been like that for about 3 years now and my solution is to just leave the car unlocked all the time. It's my kids car now and he's got nothing but crap in it anyway.
  2. The Seiko SPB143 is just above that price range. It can be found for around $900 sometimes. Another Submariner clone, but I like it. It's a throwback to their 1965 dive watch. I dig the satin sheen dial.
  3. The post you quoted never said anything about Bill Clinton not being a complete piece of shit. He was commenting about the reaction of the right back then vs their reaction today. You then proceeded to argue about a completely different aspect of all that. He didn't diminish the abuse of power, he questioned to reaction to it. Your goalposts aren't even in the stadium anymore.
  4. Beautiful. My son was just there last month and had to hike through a fair bit of snow to reach Emerald Lake.
  5. I bet van der Poel was wishing he was there yesterday. He could have made it even more interesting.
  6. That last 15k was incredible to watch. Looked like Flanders out there.
  7. I'd understand it if he had said he was riding to protect 2nd place. But he specifically said a few stages ago that he still thinks it's possible to get 4 minutes back. And since then he keeps waiting until the end to attack, when he will gain a few seconds at most, if any. It's all a moot point because no tactic of anyone's is going to beat Tadej right now, but it's confusing to watch. And not so much today, but a couple other times recently, Visma might as well have worn UAE jerseys the way they just chugged along doing all the work with Tadej tucked in with them half the day and his boys resting further back. Tadej seems to be racing smarter than he used to. Dominate early, build a cushion, then relax and burn no matches until someone is a threat or you feel like taking a stage.
  8. That's pretty cool. Is Fan Fest something they have at every stage?
  9. I know of a few of your have watched the Tour in-person and ridden over there some. Sounds like Napoleon is there now. Has anyone ever done one of the TDF group tours? Combination of riding and spectating? I'm looking at doing this next summer with my 18 year old son. I've been to France quite a few times and driven there a few times. I'm comfortable navigating around over there, but I've never ridden a bike over there. I know you can accomplish the same type of trip on your own but I'm at the age where paying for the convenience of someone else doing all the planning and taking care of all the logistics is appealing to me. I could do without all the finish-line VIP area stuff and would be just as happy watching the peloton roll through from the side of a country road. But on the riding days, being dropped off at the bottom of Ventoux with a bike and picked up at the top and shuttled to a hotel sounds way better than he and I winging it on our own. I used to hate the idea of guided trips but my son and I did a mountain bike across Scotland trip with a guided group a couple years ago and it was amazing. The group was small and I enjoyed everyone in it and we definitely went to some spots, riding, exploring, eating, etc.., that we would not have known about on our own. Anyway, pros and cons of any live Tour experiences you've had? I've looked into Thomson Bike Tours and Custom Getaways. I'd be interested to read about your experiences watching the Tour live and riding over there whether on your own or with a group.
  10. Fucking username.
  11. Of course black bikes are faster. Everybody knows that.
  12. A couple good tidbits from the Teejay and the other talking heads. Talking about no shame for Jonas to be losing to Tadej.. ”Plenty of hall of famers lost to Jordan in the finals.” And Steve talking about how Red Bull Boras was discussing intricate details like which side of the road Roglic should be on for faster rolling pavement, while others were crunching numbers about bike and helmet choice and Tadej was just grabbing his road bike and ditching the radio.
  13. Mexico, Belize, Caribbean etc is all hot as fuck in the summer. Winter is the time to head there.
  14. Well, so much for that. Tadej is just incredible to watch.
  15. These short intense attacks where we've seen Tadej shine so far are exactly what he is best at. I feel like Jonas' strength is the long sustained grinds up climbs that take 45 minutes. We haven't seen much on the course yet that really suits Jonas' biggest strengths. Tadej is the clear favorite for good reason but I think it's way too soon to count Jonas out. His best days are ahead. The spectator at the finish getting slammed into the barrier was fun to see!
  16. I bought a criquet polo and wasn't too crazy about it. The material is thinner than I like and it always comes out of the dryer pretty wrinkled when my other shirts don't. It doesn't get much wear because of that. Maybe they have other fabrics and I just picked a crappy one. While I'm on my old man rant... I really want to like Howler Brothers but they make it hard to. I got one of those button up shirts of theirs that says, "I'm not a hipster or a cowboy but I'm some kind of cool in-between middle-aged mash up of the two." and that damn thing fits like a garbage bag. Boxy, square-shaped torso. I've had $19 Old Navy shirts that were cut better. /shaking fist at cloud
  17. Improvise. Adapt. Overcum.
  18. I’ve rented from Enterprise at Oakland a few times and they’ve always warned me not to get gas near the airport. They’ve specifically told me they don’t charge if it’s a little less than full so people don’t feel the need to stop in that area. Glad this worked out ok for you.
  19. This. He’s not even a fan. The people that have looked him up didn’t really find any connection to A&M before he started writing for them. He’s nothing more than the random guy they hired to write the kind of articles they want.
  20. My kid also looked at Fort Lewis. He had an invite to walk onto the cross country team but he went a different direction. I loved it there and tried my best to get him there but he wanted the bigger school/watch your team play on Saturdays experience. Fort Lewis made me want to go Rodney Dangerfield and enroll.
  21. Seeing social media posts related to dead girls in a river that somehow still find a way to end with, "We still know God is good" is a sickening reminder of how demented all this bullshit really is. For most of my life I was in the "I don't believe it but I respect your beliefs" camp. That respect is harder and harder to find these days.
  22. Maybe the numbers really are greater than they historically were but they’ve been finding bodies in Town Lake forever. This didn’t just start in 2022. Runners in the 90s never went to the eastern half of the hike and bike trail because that’s where the bodies always got found. It was common knowledge then, and likely way back before that. And like that article posted above, I tend to think that every city on a river thinks they have a problem with dead bodies in the water.
  23. She must have been part of the Mueller well-regulated militia.
