  1. ASU are just trash people. It's easy money. Nothing could go wrong. Sark being 1-4 against ASU and allegedly being so drunk that someone else called his plays in the single win isn't a big deal. Your guys bench and squat way more than their guys. Get the free money.
  2. I think there are a bunch of positive changes that can happen, but foremost I want to know what the actual criteria is. What's important. Just state the fucking rules instead of hiding behind nebulous shit. Is it quality wins? Quality losses? What? Oregon and Georgia are the clear #1 and #2 this year. #3 was Texas at 11-2. Conference runner up. Texas had two "good losses", but beat 0 teams in the top 25 prior to the playoffs. #4 was Penn State at 11-2. Conference runner up. Penn State had two "good losses", but had beat 1 team in the top 25 prior to the playoffs, #20 9-3 Illinois. #5 was Notre Dame at 12-1. No conference. Notre Dame had one awful loss and had beat 1 team, #22 Army, in the top 25 prior to the playoffs. #6 was Ohio State at 10-2. They weren't in their CCG, had a "good loss" to Oregon and then a "bad loss" to Michigan. They 2 top 25 teams, #4 Penn State and #8 Indiana. Really strong wins. #7 was Tennessee at 10-2. They weren't in the CCG, had the @Georgia as a "good loss" but also a "bad loss" to Arkansas, and had 1 win over a top 25 team in #11 Alabama. #8 was Indiana at 11-1. They weren't in their CCG, had a "good loss" to Ohio State and had 0 wins against top 25 teams. #9 was Boise State at 12-1. They won their CCG, had a "good loss" to Oregon, and had top 25 wins against #24 UNLV twice. #10 was SMU at 11-2. Conference runner up. They had two "good Losses" to #16 Clemson and #17 BYU. They had 0 top 25 wins. #11 was Alabama at 9-3. They weren't in their CCG and had a "good loss" to Georgia, but two "bad losses" to Vandy and Oklahoma. They had two top 25 wins against #2 Georgia and #19 Missouri. #12 was Arizona State at 11-2. They won their CCG and had two "bad losses" to Cincinnati and Texas Tech. They won 2 top 25 games against #17 BYU and #18 Iowa State. That's what the 12 would have been without autobids. Here's the thing... #12 had a pretty good argument for having better standing than #11, #0, #9, #8, #7, #4 and #3. Not to say they're better, but #12 did more. If quality wins matter. It seems like they're rewarding quality losses more than anything else. What it comes down to is I want transparency. Explain what matters. It really seems like quality losses were more important than big wins.
  3. ASU is at a significant talent and size disadvantage. You don't need to dig very deep to figure that out. This is a rebuild. It's going to still be a rebuild next year. They just started winning long before anyone expected it, because Dillingham is a really good young coach and the Big 12 is kind of dogshit. The Big 12 can't out-talent ASU despite its massive losses from the Edwards implosion. This game will probably be a blowout, but... Sometimes irrational confidence goes a long ways.
  4. If y'all want to make this an OnlyFans girl battle instead of a football game, ASU is going to kick your fucking ass.
  5. ASU was beating Mississippi State 30-3 and coasted. They killed the clock at the 10 after Skattebo slid on what would have likely been a TD. Similar situation with BYU, but it backfired because they didn't kill enough time despite running backwards. 1st and goal from the like the 4, up a TD, mismanaged the clock by a fraction of a second. Really dumb since it didn't work. Could've just punched it in and then it's a 2 score game. Utah was close but didn't feel that way. UCF, Kansas and Texas State were close though. Kansas was fucking weird. They were 3-3 against top 25 teams with all 3 losses by 1 score. Like they suck, but they were kinda scary.
  6. The Big 12 was bad. The talent level is low. ASU won and was comfortably the best team in the conference with what would be considered a below average ASU team talentwise. It's kind of cool as an ASU fan, since we're so used to underachieving. The 2021 ASU roster would be a fucking nightmare to play if they had the current coaching staff, but such is life. ASU is still injured by the NCAA stuff and fielding a team essentially from 2 years of portal transfers and a few underclassmen. Maybe we pull off a massive upset, but even if y'all smoke us, I'm more looking forward to 2 or 3 years from now when it's actually rebuilt.
  7. Should probably bet it then.
  8. Yeah. Kinda sucks for us.
  9. Our best defensive player took a free headshot at Iowa State's QB when we were up 45-10 so he's out for a half, Xavion Alford is very good now, CJ Fite is the classic "Just a little bit too small" DT that overproduces, Clay Smith is nice sometimes, Crooks is from Arkansas and has been pretty good... Alford and Shamari Simmons (out for smoking Rocco Becht because it was like dangling a pork chop in front of a tiger) are the best players. There are a lot of guys who are decent, but we don't have much for headliners.
  10. Gimme a week or so to cook. The last time I was actively posting here, it was ShaggyBevo, some blacklab dude ran it and me and a guy that went by ShineGlo or something had a conversation during a Missouri game thread about how 'Wanton Hookery' was both an accurate description for Mill Ave/6th Street and also an awesome band name.
  11. Got you. Got a little defensive there. My bad.
  12. ASU is nothing like them. ASU doesn't have oil money, doesn't dress up as fake soldiers, doesn't think success is owed to it and has actually won 10+ games more than once since 2000.
  13. If ASU can't run, ASU is going to get annihilated. Even if ASU can run, I just don't think we have the dudes. You'll need to give it to us or we have to get fancy. Or both. I know one missing player shouldn't matter, but ASU not having Tyson is a major problem. He was the guy who could always get open. ASU has plenty of guys who look the part, run the part, occasionally make plays at WR, but the consistency... We'll see. We weren't even supposed to be here.
  14. I wanna talk shit, but I know ASU is in for an uphill fight in this one. That's fine. We were picked last in the Big 12 and won the bitch with like 35 of our 2 deep coming back. All of this is gravy. Even if you whoop our ass, to quote Obi-Wan: The sand people are easily startled, but they will soon be back and in greater numbers.
  15. FPI is predictive, not a description of merit. If you wanted to know there are more 4 and 5 stars in the SEC, you don't need a stat. I'm not very familiar with FEI, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess FEI, like FPI, integrates talent composite. Also, those games weren't all that close. ASU had 3 score leads in the 2nd half of every game. They opted to get cute (and almost screwed themselves) against BYU instead of scoring again when it was 1st and goal from the 4, annihilated Iowa State and were up 24-0 and coasting against K State. Like I do agree Texas has a likely much stronger roster and there's a great chance the Horns roll ASU, but pretending ASU hasn't played anyone is silly.
  16. And BYU and Iowa State are ranked higher than any team Texas beat up until today. Ditto for Penn State, Indiana, Notre Dame, SMU. Boise too. Not disagreeing with your point that Texas's line of scrimmage is going to be a potentially overwhelming advantage for the horns, but Sagarin is iffy.
  17. Glendale. Fiesta Bowl was just a bowl swap away.
  18. They might dick ride if we win or make it competitive but I can tell they already don't like us. Except Tech. Texas Tech seems cool.
  19. FWIW, ASU was up 30-3 against Miss State and coasted, and Leavitt didn't play @Cincinnati. Bearcats didn't score the entire 2nd half, but it didn't matter because ASU's backup is Jeff Simms. Kansas was just weird in that they were preseason top 25, choked 2 games to top 25 teams (UNLV and Illinois), kept on losing, then got feisty for a bit. They almost beat ASU, almost beat Kansas State (8-4) and did beat 3 more teams that finished in the top 25. They're 3-3 against top 25 teams. But they suck. They're basically Vandy I guess, in that they can do scary shit but are bad.
  20. I know this isn't an overall playoff thread, but I'm enjoying Tennessee finding out that the rickety broken thing they thought they were approaching was, in fact, a fully functional Death Star.
  21. Heard Cliff fucked up the landing and just told you that. Fat friends lie.
  22. Leavitt is actually pretty fucking good, especially for a freshman. The biggest issue is Jordyn Tyson is out. He's better than Pearsall or Badger were. Probably ASU's best since Aiyuk. It'll be more an issue of is anyone actually open for him.
  23. I admire the talent that's been built up in Austin, but I honestly think ASU has got you beat. Unless you're talking about football players. Then Texas comes out on top.
