  1. Saw an interview with Springer once.  He knew he was catering to the lowest common denominators of society.  He talked about one time how someone had a medical emergency during a taping.  He said he thought for a moment about asking "Is there a doctor in the house...?"  and he immediately corrected his inner dialogue with "What the hell are you thinking?"

  2. Dang.  I literally pulled the same thing leaving the dentist office the other day.  Walked up what I thought was my car opened the door, hopped in and looked around and said to myself... "We don't have tan leather seats".  No one was in the vehicle.  It was same make, model, year, and color of my car.  Parked one slot closer to the door than my car.  Hopped out as soon as realized what was going on.  Made a glance at the dentist office to ensure no one was coming out to confront me and I hopped in my car and left.

Embarrassing and funny has hell and that's all it should have been for those girls.

My favorite Duke role though is not a western. The Quiet Man is a wonderful movie that my wife and I rewatch every few years.

Ex brother-in-law pointed this one out to me years ago.  I believe it is my favorite Duke movie, too.

Same thing has happened on the battlefield for thousands of years. Wounded, bleeding out and screaming for water, they were doing this because of their body's reaction from the shock of exsanguination.

I watched an episode of X-Files this morning where exsanguination was the cause of death.   It was the one with the cloned kids that knew what the other was doing while living across the continent from one another.

  5. I hate the “too close to take with two strikes” bullshit.  The zone shouldn’t move.  Both strike threes to Mia were 6 inches outside.  Pitches he called balls earlier in the count to other batters.

Home plate umpires need to be done away with.

Nope. Never hear of it until recently.  There's are new location in Buda/Kyle.  Guess we can try it out.

I saw it yesterday driving through to PTerry's in Kyle.  Lot's of stuff popping up in that area.

A few years back, The Woodlands was sent a "cease and desist" letter from Wisconsin for using their Motion W. They changed it up to be in compliance.

I was living in The Woodlands when that happened.  Youngest graduated from there.  Openly pull against Wisconsin for them being bitches. Wisconsin could have named a price and TW probably would have paid.  Oh well.

  8. Congratulations, you are about to embark on a most incredible adventure.

I always like to impart this bit of wisdom on new expectant Dads...

Those first few months when you are dealing with diapers and night feedings and the toll it takes on your sanity, that is the easy part... it's a guarantee that wherever you put the kid, they are not going any where.  You know exactly where they are at and what they are up to...

  9. Nothing really to add here.   Agree that if we have a healthy Disu, Rice, and Carr in those last 10 minutes yesterday and it goes like we think it should have, it would be pretty much unanimous about giving him the job.

Keeping RT is one thing but from my observation, it is just as important to keep this staff in tact if we are to retain him.  There was a lot of coaching by committee going on that I don't typically see going on with regard to other teams.  At least from my 10,000 foot view.

I am in the skeptic camp but I hope he tears it up here.

I would bet that you are happy that you went and got to experience parts of India, even if you wouldn’t go back. At least you have that first hand experience.

Absolutely, it was an amazing eye-opener of an experience.  Honestly, if the trip could have been broken up to where I could have gotten a night in London to and from it would have been a bit better.  As it were though, there was about an hour or two lay over on the way and basically no lay over on the way back.  So,  back to back 9 to 10 hour flights.

  11. Through work, I have spent a week in Bolivia and 2 weeks in India.

Bolivia...Spent a couple of days in San Jose and then on to Cochabamba.  If you are a meat eater, you will be fine there.  Great people, laid back feel even in the city.  Cochabamba has a Christ Redeemer statue of its own.  So, it is very catholic oriented.  It is also at altitude.  Best coffee and soda water too.  Just stay away from anything that could touch water.   Brought back some nice leather purses and silver jewelry for my girls.  I would recommend it, at least a trip to Cochabamba.  It's been a bit since I've been down there though.   The hotel we stayed at in San Jose was cool but the city is the place for a lot of protests.  There was one when we were there.

India, was a pain to get to and to get home from.  It was a great experience but would not care to go back.  Only way I would go back if it would be to go visit the northern Part.  Stayed in Bangalore which is down south.  Abject poverty.  Congested.  Cows walking down the streets.  Rode in an auto (green and yellow open air vehicle) at lunch one day.  I think I ended up with a bit of carbon monoxide poisoning.   Good look just trying to walk across even the most simple side street.

Stayed in a hotel that catered to Western Tastes.  Had a few different restaurants.  Steak was on the menu at one spot, but they were always 'out'.  Seafood, lamb, and chicken were main sources of protein if you are meat eater.  Outstanding breakfast buffet though.  Attendants would make one-offs for you upon request, mostly eggs and omelets.  During the day, I ate at the cafeteria on the job site and I managed okay.  The food on the airlines was way worse on me.

Didn't really see much and didn't get out of town much even on the one free weekend we had.  Watched a lot of IPL Cricket on tv though.

Best way to sum it up is from a line Jon Hamm had in Million Dollar Arm, when asked about his trip to India, he replies...

You walk down the street and you smell the most amazing things and then about a block later, you smell the worst of things.

Like I mentioned a while back, while I was at the laundromat, one guy just came up and started talking to me.  Can't remember how religious it was in nature but it was probably no different than how Christian denominations and their offshoots handle the growing of their flocks.

I've thought about this a bit more.  Lot's of folks described him as charismatic and that probably helped bring people in.  However, like Epstein and Maxwell, I think he knew how to pick out people to join him that would be willing to do anything he asked.  Maybe that is stating that obvious.

I watched the Netflix thing this past weekend.  Kathy Schroeder is still certifiable.

The ATF had leased space in the same building my wife worked in during this time.  One day, a few weeks into the siege, I was going with my wife back to her office. We walked into the lobby and hit the up button at the elevator and a few seconds later, the doors open and standing in the back of the elevator is Kathy Schroeder in chains surrounded by federal agents,.  We gave them a wide berth as they exited the elevator and building.

When the compound went up on April 19th, my wife could see the smoke and flames from her office on the top floor of that same building.  It was not lost on me that folks from the ATF probably had the same vantage point.
