@HenryJames got us tickets in the UT end zone for the 2004 game. Texas had scored in every game dating back to something like 1977 before that game. It was a known standing record, similar to the streak of having someone drafted in every draft until that fucking streak got broken as well. Fucking 12-0. Motherfucker.

I remember sitting just over the wall and fantasizing, actively, during that game of jumping the wall, sprinting onto the sidelines and punching Mack Brown in the face without even slowing down. We later all went to an Italian restaurant and some dipshit tried to talk shit to us about a baseball playoff game, I think between the Cardinals and Dodgers, and he picked the wrong day. There is no way his wife could look at him the same after the altercation. It was some element of catharsis, to this day, I guess.

Previous shutout was against Baylor in 1980.  16-0.

I had no idea this show was that old.  It would never have been produced in the post Jan 6th psychodrama.

It was good although pretty anti-gov and  one sided.  These stories always start in media res when the cult is already organized and active.  I wish they would spend some eps showing how the cultists get recruited.

Like I mentioned a while back, while I was at the laundromat, one guy just came up and started talking to me.  Can't remember how religious it was in nature but it was probably no different than how Christian denominations and their offshoots handle the growing of their flocks.

  3. I caught the end of the last 'Rewind with Rodney Terry' hosted by Galindo.  Galindo was effusive with praise for Terry and told Terry he deserved to be the next head basketball coach at Texas and basically it would be a shame if it did not happen.

So, relax.  Terry won't be coming back.

  4. More Austin weather shit.. It was either '97 or '98 when it got up to 98 or 99 in February and it snowed some time after that.

I remember being in Waco in '87.  I spent Saturday moving in to a new apartment on April 1st and remember seeing chicks all around the pool grabbing some rays.

Next day I get up and call my grandparents house at Battle Lake (Mart... greater Waco) to see what time Sunday dinner was.  My uncle answers the phone, I ask what is everyone doing... he replies, "We're watching it snow..."

This kinda shit like currently may not be seasonally 'correct' but it does get sideways from time to time.
In general though, I do agree that the extremes are starting to get common place.  We went years without having serious winter weather events (from what I can recall) and now we are getting at least 1-2 a year lately.

This fire started at 2 am last night. The fact that it's not getting wall-to-wall coverage by our corporate media is truly a sad indictment.

Tongue in cheek response(kinda sorta)... There is an amusement park complex nearby whose parent company happens to own one of them thar corporate media outlets.

  6. I remember back in the old days when CBS used to run movies after the local nightly news.

They would have themes for the movies that would show during a given week.

One week it was beach movies and they showed  'A Swinging Summer' her first credited movie appearance perhaps.  I was a whippersnapper but I became a fan for life that night.

    She is indeed an All-Timer.

The Chiefs will have a difficult time winning more because there’s better competition and more playmaking QBs. AFC and NFC both have quality. Their division helps, but it’s not devoid of much talent like the Pats division was for a number of years.

I’m not sure Mahomes didn’t play better when they lost to the Bucs. The difference was the totality of his team. They blocked. They didn’t drop passes. Special teams and D contributed.

Montana won them and that’s what you want, but the AFC competition was somewhat weak. There’s also the game ending pick dropped by Billups I believe. But he did live thru the era of anything goes against the QB. That’s massive as I’d assume all QBs played through multiple concussions.

If we are saying who’s the best based on their peak, it is Mahomes. He simply makes plays that others can’t. He’s pretty consistent. If you base it on Super Bowl wins or compiled stats, then obviously not him. Super Bowl wins he won’t get. Stats, we’ll see.

    Good points...

Agree on the AFC competition back in the 80s up to 2000 - NFC was 16-4 from 81 - 2000.  But you still have to play the game...

I also agree whole heartedly on Mahomes play making ability.  Montana had the ability to stay clean in the pocket because he could move.  He could have played PG at the College Level.  Mahomes has some other worldly vision and knack to make plays out of nothing.

Joe Montana had Jerry Rice and all them.

Nope.  Montana had Rice for 2 championships.  In fact during the 80's 49ers had a total of 5 players that were on all 4 championship teams.  Contrasting that with Pittsburgh teams of the 70s that had like 30 dudes with 4 rings.  As others have mentioned it was a different game when Montana and Bradshaw played too.  Just watch old Super Bowl highlights and the difference between now and then is stark.

    Back to Mahomes...

I literally said 'What the Fuck' when I saw him get picked based on his time at Tech.  It's definitely like a Brady and Belichek pairing with him and Reid.  They were made for one another.  Mahomes and these young guys that are rolling in have made Pro Football fun to watch again, at least for me.  That game last night was Montana-esque for sure but let's see if he can keep it clean and win when it is on the line again.  Montana never lost a Super Bowl and never tossed an interception... and yes, I am a giant Montana homer.  Chiefs management and coaching have done a great job managing the roster around Mahomes too.  They have 1 starting OL from the last Super Bowl win.  Philadelphia lines were getting all the love but KC's revamped OL kept Mahomes clean.  Chiefs have the makings of a dynasty with everything they have right now.

  9. Any of you watch 'Lingo'?  Loosely based on Wordle.  Hosted by RuPaul* of all people.  It's a fun watch especially if you have played Wordle, Quordle, Octordle a lot.

You find yourself yelling 'you dumbass' quite a bit at the screen.

RuPaul is dressed in male persona and it kinda bugs me.

    Aaaany ways...
