  1. Got behind someone the other day on Old Stagecoach.  They were poking a long with a slow weave.  I tried to go around them and they drifted all the way over into the other lane in front of me as I was trying to pass.  So, I was stuck.  I then watched them approach this blind corner and straddle the double yellow.  I practically came to a stop anticipating a head on collision.  Fortunately, none happened.  Erratic speed and more weaving as we approached the red light.  Could have been drunk but it was in the morning, which still could mean they are drunk but god dammit... texters that get caught driving should have their phones and cars seized on the fucking spot.  It's not a right to own a car or a phone you dumb fucks.

This.  Most of these victims apparently are very poor or nonswimmers.  Easier to float in salt water than in your local pool.

You can still get pulled out pretty quickly though.  Went boogie boarding on a red day there a few years back.  Caught a wave but got worked immediately and went under and came back up about 20-30 yards further out (at least that is what it seemed like).

Fitbit. I must know exactly how many steps I take every day. Plus my pulse. EKG.  Oxygen level. And anything else they can measure. Maybe PSA is next.

there is a futureman joke in there somewhere....

Anyway, I have not worn a real watch in 25 years.  I did start wearing a Fitbit Charge recently.

Totally get it.  Title was tongue and cheek.  But Orcas are fucking smart.  It's like maybe a boat fucked up one of the calves and so that pod went all Denzel in Man on Fire, and also told the other pods to fuck up all of the boats. The recent rise in coordinate attacks is absolutely fascinating.

There is another example where an Orca actually actively worked with a boat to help free its calf from a fishing net.

    No shit.  Re: Title.

We are planning a trip probably to the Pacific Northwest or Alaska to be able to see Orcas in their own habitat.  They are indeed fascinating creatures.  Arguably the smartest on the planet given the dumbassery on constant display by humans.

But back to your point about "why?", I agree it is probably some kind of revenge plot that they are coordinating and executing.

As many have pointed out, fuck that conference pride bullshit.  That being said, the wife's (no pics) family are Gators.  So, I have pulled for them and have no issues doing so as long as they are not playing Texas and their winning does not affect Texas.

  6. Hell of a year.  Agreed on the rebuilding year points and yet we were battling for a World Series spot until the end.  This team showed all of the inconsistencies and greatness of what it could be all year and we got a glimpse of it all this last series.  That does NOT include the last play.

I've spent time in the outfield in baseball and in softball.  You are going to lose a ball.  It is terrifying and helpless when it happens but it does happen.  Can't imagine what those dudes are going through.  But if you can't see it, you can't see it.    To be called 'chokers' says more about the people labeling them that.

  7. I don’t know. They’re doing Yellowstone over the next week. They went to the Jackson Hole rodeo yesterday. They sent that pic from their drive this morning. Edit:  her reply to my “what is that barn?” text:  “Mouton barn… it’s like one of the most famous things about Grand Teton.. not sure about it being in movies, but it’s like quintessential Wild West pioneer America.”

    Another one.

I was in that same area 4 years ago to the day.

  8. and to be clear, you go in the water, sharks are in the water...  I have seen lots of bull shark pups swimming up and down the shore in Destin in a about 2-3 feet of water.  Never bothered me or my family.  Water is clear and you can keep an eye on them.    Although in Mexico Beach one time, I swear I got bumped by one.  Water was unclear and next to a fresh water source.

And there was this...I was out about chest deep a few years ago and saw a 8-10 foot Tiger cruising on the top about 20 yards away on the gulf side of me.  It was headed towards other family members about 100 yards away as it went below the surface.  I tried to get their attention but fortunately nothing happened.

allegedly he died.  so don't watch if you don't want to see that.  it's not graphic but it's traumatic.

Might want to put that at the top...

In your defense, futureman, I did not see the entirety of the post before clicking on the video.

People who speed on residential streets should be shot

Yep, I have started walking a lot more these days around my neighborhood and the one next to it.  See at least a handful of speeders during that time walking.

In addition the road that both these neighborhoods are off of (and another across that street) is treated like the autobahn.  Not uncommon to be clear of traffic (bit of blind curve approaching our main entrance) and start turning on to this road and have someone bearing down on you going 15+ over the speed limit.

This is the same road that I have mentioned before where people on the outer apex of a curve like to cross the double line.  I don't know how many times we have had to make evasive maneuvers because of this.   Surprised there has not been a head on collision at this point especially with all the idiots moving into the area.
