  1. God Speed, Sam Mussabini.
  2. HOOOO LEEEE SHIIIIIT! I know The University has some things to work through. At the very least, I think we are self aware enough to want to gain an understanding of what our minority students go through. We have some work to do here but I don't think it is insurmountable. A&M needs to be razed and the ground it was on needs to be salted if these are truly the dominant attitudes of the Aggies.
  3. Quest For Fire. I was 18 and with a date who had a curfew. The decision to walk out of the movie was probably not solely based on the movie alone.
  4. At least they left a note... and just think about how good those minis are gonna taste after they have been in the freezer!
  5. Another check-in on the Epstein series. Agree with what others have said. Sinister in the manner he and his minions could pick the right girls for what he wanted. Hopefully, they will crack down on the women he had doing his bidding. I wish they would have named more names.
  6. Pancho, I am no apologist, but to look at the history of the US and not acknowledge the treatment of blacks through its history as nothing less than repugnant is repugnant in itself. This latest killing is no less of a tragedy than any of what has happened in the past. I will leave it at that and say, I am sorry for your pain man.
  7. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - Enjoyed it. Would like to have seen more of Mr. Rogers side of life. But there is a hint or two in the movie that he was human just like the rest of us. Se7en - Brad Pitt's character deserves a punch in the face almost every time he opens his mouth...maybe it's just the old man in me talking. Anyways, I remember watching Spacey in Wiseguy about 30 years ago and thinking, this dude is going to be famous. Too bad he picked up the notoriety that he did after he achieved his fame.
  8. Damn, I don't know what the hell I was thinking and now that you bring it up... Randy Kinder was a dude in Waco that you didn't want to come across in any setting. Eventually, HE ended up actually murdering someone. I was there for the killing of the other Randy Kinder, though.
  9. I think this what I need to come to grips with and just do it. On the soloing part though, I want to develop my own style but this is still the best approach to doing that. Wouldn't hurt to brush back up on shapes\Forms and maybe scales and sequences.
  10. Melissa Ledger\Northrup - Killed by Kenneth Wayne McDuff. She and her family lived down the street from us. Little thing. She was a sweet kid too. If any one was outside at my house she would always stop as she was walking past and visit for a bit. I always kidded her about something - like a big brother - and she always had the best girly giggly response. Breaks my heart to this day. The other side of the coin... If I am wrong on the order of events, sue me. A head washes up around the twin bridges in Waco. Some time after that, Bosque County sheriff's department or local guy pulls over a vehicle for routine traffic stop. As the officer was approaching the vehicle, driver caps himself. The head belonged to an old lady. A real estate agent had been after this old lady to sell her property to him. She kept refusing. So, obviously, he escalated the matter. Anyway flashback to 1983, this same dude was the real estate agent for my folks when they sold their house. I met the man on several occasions. Marshall Carraway was his name.
  11. Not sure if many people get who you are talking about, but I do.
  12. I picked up the guitar in 2015. I started out with online courses - another vote for justinguitar - and noticed I was probably picking up some bad habits so I took some private lessons for over a year. I have also picked up the bass and I play (was playing) a couple of times a month with the church praise band. Several things have happened while just playing the bass... I have a better command of the fret board as well as a better understanding of music theory regarding major and minor scales and chord progression and transition(walking up and down). As far as guitar playing is concerned, I have no idea where to focus right now. I want to build my song list, build up my lead chops, learn finger picking methods, build rhythm techniques and strumming... I am thinking I might just go hang out on justinguitar again and plow threw lesson plans and songs.
  13. I do recall the pawn shop now that you mention it.
  14. That building was originally a jewelry store or it sold jewelry among other items. I worked as a bar back at Mr. B's for brief time in the mid 80s myself. Couldn't remember a soul that I worked with though.
  15. I was getting my haircut the other day and there was a lull and the stylist started talking about Netflix shows. This one came up. I remember watching it when it first came out and I don't remember anything that struck me as anything I was not already aware of when all of this was sorted out. Probably my main gripe, a small one, was how they portrayed Jack Harwell the McLennan County Sheriff. He always wore his stetson tilted to the side along with a tan leather jacket. You can see him in some clips with that Henry Lee Lucas bio pic that Netflix did. He seemed larger than life if you ever met him. The main thing I remember was watching all of this unfold in real time about 15 minutes away from where I lived. It was about 2-3 miles away from my parents house. Another side to this is I knew other local law enforcement officers that were in contact with the Davidians the day of the raid. Firefighters that were on scene the last day. And finally, 4 people I had met in a laundromat back in 87, including Vernon Howell. Apologies if I have l brought this up before.
  16. It was pretty great when it first started. I remember it being a premium service. You made sure you had a circle of friends that had it if your folks didn't. Also, it made for a cheap date if your girlfriend had it - MTV that is.
  17. Tell him to hit with some weed and feed and water the hell out of it. That will get rid of it.
  18. Wow. Some talented kids there. I know Lehman High School here in Kyle has a Mariachi group\band.
  19. I remember following Erxleben, Little from Arkansas and Franklin from A&M. They were all trying to outdo one another. Back then, if you missed the field goal and it ended up in or through the end zone, the opposing team got the ball back on their own 20 just like a touch-back.
  20. Quick, fun watch. Need to pick up the books. Any one else pick up on the fact the actor playing the captain was one of the main kids from Porky's?
  21. I would offer only this bit of advice if you are going to be boiling peppers. Make sure your vent hood is running and\or have a respirator handy.
