  1. I recently hit GC to check out some of the less expensive Martin acoustics and whatever else might work for what I would spend for a guitar I probably won't play much, but hopefully would make me want to play more. All the shit was locked up on the wall and I wasn't in the mood to go get some jackoff to unlock them and stand over my shoulder the whole time. So I took a look at all the other stuff I could actually pick up. The best acoustic guitar I could find among the bunch was a used Cort for $200. I had never even seen a Cort branded acoustic guitar before. Sounded better, played good, looked pretty nice, but it wasn't quite what I wanted. Most of the other crap in there was probably made in factories around the corner, but with more well-known brands on them.
  2. The fuschia of rock & roll.
  3. I know the room will be unanimously thrilled with this revelation. Pickguard screws seem pretty close to right.
  4. Tony D was deceptively strong, too. He was always seen as a speed runner, but then he would run over your ass.
  5. Shit, going to HEB is one of my few highlights of any given week. Not that it's that great, but everything else that once brought any interest has either died or turned to suck.
  6. MLB sent the memo out to get Ohtani in the playoffs. Fuck that bullshit.
  7. Strange blast from the past. Spinal Tap moment around 11:00.
  8. Never in doubt. Always trust the Rangers bullpen.
  9. I don't know that I would call that an error. Looked like a funky hop and angle that would have taken a great play to make, and I'm not sure Jung even touched it. If it were an error seems more likely on Seager, but it was a difficult pickup going past Jung.
  10. People really like this shit? I guess they know their audience. They did once have some of the best commercials. The Snoop one is full regard. Haven't been to Jack in ages, but it is definitely far more useful than McD's or BK, Wendy's etc..., if only for the 2AM drive back home tacos.
  11. Man, it sucks to lose the park, but I'm not a big fan of the shitty methods to attempt to retain it. But fuck a bunch of developing some beautiful natural land. Just shitty shit all the way around. Wish a bazillionaire would swoop in and buy it all from everyone and just leave it the hell alone.
  12. Man, I can't get in sync with all these day games and weirdass times. I sat down in front of the TV with some chinese food to start the game, after it's 6-0 I nodded off. Came to and it was 6-5. I missed all the good shit.
  13. They should leave Deion's foot and amputate in the other direction.
  14. Are you familiar with another Texas landscape scene artist named Palmer Chrisman? I have one my Dad bought at an auction a couple of decades ago, a bluebonnet scene. They were colleagues together in the medical field.
  15. The reissue sounded way better when hooked up to the vintage cabs. The speakers seemed to be the most significant factor. They all sounded awesome, but the vintage models with original speakers kicked the most ass.
  16. I rather enjoy the view from my comfy chair at home, and not having to drive to D/FW and fight traffic. I probably should make a trip one of these days, though.
  17. Schoepf's in Belton this past weekend. Probably not quite top 50 caliber, but this is the only place in Bell County that is anywhere close. So much better than Miller's since they upped their game in the past year or so, and Miller's keeps slipping deeper into tourist trap purgatory and lesser bbq where people line up like pigeons to popcorn. Schoepf's doesn't get nearly as crowded. Still, it was nearly $33 worth of food for not getting stuffed, and that was with water as the beverage. I have to say the ribs were great for St. Louis cut, but they were meaty and delicious. I didn't order burnt ends, but they were left from previous cuts and the pit guy said "would this do?" Not sauced up all foo foo style, just little corner cuts, like real burnt ends. Brisket is really tender and juicy, and quite nice.
  18. This series is a bunch of bullshit. This game is the bullshittiest bullshit of the series.
  19. I ordered this light from Amazon. I figured it would be a good multi-purpose light I can use for a lot of things if I get tired of trying to digitize film pics. It also can be used as a charging bank. Good to have in an emergency or for travel, outdoors and stuff, and lighting small things for quick photos. 20. True dat. Of course, as the DougO curse dictates, I bought the Nikon ES-1 a few years ago to start trying this method. Then they came out with the ES-2 that includes its own negative holder. Also has some kind of Picture Control negative filter that you can download, so that it does most of the work in camera. But I haven't figured out a way to download it or similar one to make it easier. I can invert the color, but the color shift is still there. I think the wonky light I'm using so far is part of the problem. But it's just in the experimental phase, not too serious yet.
  21. Toronto beat the Astros three times last week. Getting a couple of wins there would effectively pad the lead a bit. Big pitching matchup tonight.
  22. I have the Plustek film scanner that they still sell today, as well. It's not bad but the process is pretty slow and tedious. I think the DSLR method gets better results in most cases. Color negs may be the exception. I never installed it to my current computer, though.
  23. I'm using Nikon es-1 attachment on the 60mm macro for 35mm slides. Makes that part easy since you don't have to line up the camera and worry about movement. I have my old Nikon scanner from the 2000s that provides a negative holder, clunky, but it works with the es-1. I just played around with some little cheap LED lights for starters, but I have a more legit photo light coming to get a bit more serious and accurate color balance. That part is doable. But processing the color neg capture is a bitch. Can't get the conversion right. I'm not used to messing with RAW and Lightroom, either. I will need a 120 holder at some point for some of my dad's old stuff. I wish I could rig it like the 35mm stuff on the end of a lens to make it easier. I'm using my Nikon D800 for the scanning. Its the most expensive camera I ever bought, and currently the most worthless on the used market, ironically. So it's nice that I'm able to still at least get some use out of it. It has a decently high resolution.
  24. Have any of you film shooters or people with old film stuff tried digitizing with a camera and macro/gizmo attachment or other somesuch thing? I started poking around with it a again recently. I found that it really works great with black and white negatives, which I had never really tried before. But color negs are a major pain. Slides are hit and miss depending on the exposure but the originals never looks as good as you thought they did when you shot them back in the day. I just ordered an LED light to get some more consistent light source happening, but dust is really a bitch of a problem, too. Why does stuff have to be hard? I have a shit-ton of old stuff of mine and family that I need to get digitally archived...though I'm really not that sure why.
