  1. I ordered this light from Amazon. I figured it would be a good multi-purpose light I can use for a lot of things if I get tired of trying to digitize film pics. It also can be used as a charging bank. Good to have in an emergency or for travel, outdoors and stuff, and lighting small things for quick photos. 2. True dat. Of course, as the DougO curse dictates, I bought the Nikon ES-1 a few years ago to start trying this method. Then they came out with the ES-2 that includes its own negative holder. Also has some kind of Picture Control negative filter that you can download, so that it does most of the work in camera. But I haven't figured out a way to download it or similar one to make it easier. I can invert the color, but the color shift is still there. I think the wonky light I'm using so far is part of the problem. But it's just in the experimental phase, not too serious yet.
  3. Toronto beat the Astros three times last week. Getting a couple of wins there would effectively pad the lead a bit. Big pitching matchup tonight.
  4. I have the Plustek film scanner that they still sell today, as well. It's not bad but the process is pretty slow and tedious. I think the DSLR method gets better results in most cases. Color negs may be the exception. I never installed it to my current computer, though.
  5. I'm using Nikon es-1 attachment on the 60mm macro for 35mm slides. Makes that part easy since you don't have to line up the camera and worry about movement. I have my old Nikon scanner from the 2000s that provides a negative holder, clunky, but it works with the es-1. I just played around with some little cheap LED lights for starters, but I have a more legit photo light coming to get a bit more serious and accurate color balance. That part is doable. But processing the color neg capture is a bitch. Can't get the conversion right. I'm not used to messing with RAW and Lightroom, either. I will need a 120 holder at some point for some of my dad's old stuff. I wish I could rig it like the 35mm stuff on the end of a lens to make it easier. I'm using my Nikon D800 for the scanning. Its the most expensive camera I ever bought, and currently the most worthless on the used market, ironically. So it's nice that I'm able to still at least get some use out of it. It has a decently high resolution.
  6. Have any of you film shooters or people with old film stuff tried digitizing with a camera and macro/gizmo attachment or other somesuch thing? I started poking around with it a again recently. I found that it really works great with black and white negatives, which I had never really tried before. But color negs are a major pain. Slides are hit and miss depending on the exposure but the originals never looks as good as you thought they did when you shot them back in the day. I just ordered an LED light to get some more consistent light source happening, but dust is really a bitch of a problem, too. Why does stuff have to be hard? I have a shit-ton of old stuff of mine and family that I need to get digitally archived...though I'm really not that sure why.
  7. There's a lot of Tom Petty story stuff on Otis's channel, and lots of other things that are nice.
  8. I unearthed this priceless treasure from the old shed this morning while trying to make some space. I knew I had it stashed away somewhere!
  9. Last couple of games kinda seem like old times.
  10. A story worth the 12 minutes for the kicker at the end, especially for the olds.
  11. What is cash? People us that to buy things?
  12. Yep. The lastest trend on fecebook is all these fake local TV news station feeds with bullshit clickbait crap. I can't click them away fast enough, they just keep jamming them in the feed.
  13. I kinda like this team.
  14. I have this one in my random driving tunes flash drive in the car. Something about it just gets to me every time. And Frankie's delivery without a single note of his famous falsetto voice is just perfect.
  15. Gary Newman?
  16. Howard exits with a 108 era and 15 whip. Man, if only he could have kept his era in double digits...
  17. They may be hoping he will be humiliated into retirement. I feel for the guy, though.
  18. Spencer Howard comes in and immediately gets blasted. Shocked and stunned...

    Kayaking

It would be nice if there were some place locally where I could actually try one on the water, or even just sit in one parked somewhere, to get a better idea. Aside from the physical requirements, I'm not sure I would embrace fishing from that near water level.

    Kayaking

Thanks, may consider it down the road if you decide you want to part with it. But I keep going back and forth as to whether I feel I could really meld with a kayak. I have doubts. I really wish I could find a clean used Tracker-ish bass boat for a decent price. I think that's what I need.
  21. I really only discovered the Plimsouls and The Nerves in the last decade. And I didn't even know the same dude was leading both bands until a few weeks ago when Case appeared on the Otis Gibbs Youtube channel. I didn't know who he was at all until the second video he did with him. So his solo stuff is totally new to me. But I dig those early bands a lot and have had stuff of theirs in my random automobile tunes rotation. I would definitely like to check out the doc, but prefer to see it for free, because I'm a cheap bastard and not particularly fond of streaming services.
  22. If you have one with a neck pickup and one with a bridge pickup it gives you an excuse to have more guitars.
  23. They're about the size of a chicken leg drumette but that's mostly feathers. So probably a few hundred.
  24. I personally wouldn't do it, but I figured there were a few out there that would perk up. I saw one poster in the slickdeals thread he saw a video where somebody too the pickguard off one and it was routed for a neck pickup, so basically like a stock modern Tele. I don't think that's necessarily bad, but it takes away a bit from the mythos. I haven't read the specs, but it may have a more authentic repro neck shape and pickup, stuff like that, to reproduce the sound and feel. But yeah, I would just go for a regular Tele. For some folks it might just scratch the itch.
