I know one of each, old timer and former player. This is exactly what they are saying. Their money is now back in play. Much how many of us at Texas are feeling. We can finally fully leverage our financial advantage.
All good points. This guy isn’t rich, he works at Belmont and he was referring to the coaching staff when he said there was concern. I just hope we can get the skill guys and QB enough space to be effective and prevent another Arkansas et al on defense. I guess I have some ptsd from the past decade. Recalibrating back into “show me results” mode going into the season.
BIL is kind of a big deal in the entertainment marketing space and has a section of season tickets to the Austin MLS flopping parties. Not a fan but he invited me and I went to appease the wife. Anyway, one of the dudes that shows up is… connected to the UT FB program to say the least. We start talking football and he can’t stop about how concerned everyone is about the situation on the line, both sides of the ball. Do we suck again next year because we still suck on the OL and DL? My kool aide situation is critical, help.
If that truck has the recording gear Ivan could set the record and it would not be available to see except on the cell phone recordings from the audience.
“This will be the best move for our student athletes, as they will be competing on the finest stage in collegiate sports. It will allow them to play in the best time slots on the largest television networks, give them unmatched visibility and prepare them for a potential future in sports beyond UT.”
This makes it clear the role NIL played in this.
Wanted to say congrats to the surly team on keeping the site up during all of this. It’s been rock solid for me the entire time.
Also have a ZZ Top story. Summer of 93 I was an intern at a large Houston law firm (not a law intern, I was undergrad at the time) and was taken to the original Carraba’s by a partner to have a meal way beyond my budget. In walks ZZ Top with a large painting. They got seated at the table next to us and put the painting in one of the chairs facing as if the painting was a dinner guest. They proceeded to have their meal with the painting as if everyone else was weird for not having one.
“Texas will become the highest ranked opponent for the Wolf Pack since it played No. 2 Oregon State at home back in April of 2019. Nevada took both of those games from the Beavers, who were the defending national champions at the time, winning in dramatic fashion in both affairs, 8-7 in 12 innings in game one and 7-6 in 10 innings in game two”
