Also, when the BCS era was around and we'd get an all SEC championship, not going to happen again. Even in the 4 team playoff era, placing 2 SEC teams in there, not going to happen. 50% of the 12 team field won't be SEC. Did the SEC have talent and good teams? Sure. Did they also manipulate the system and in bed with ESPN to make this happen? Absolutely. When every ESPN talking head keeps pushing the "SEC best ever!!" mantra, people start to believe it and parrot it. SEC got the benefit of the doubt no other conference did.
NIL and transfer portal is really going to deplete the SEC bullshitn even further. No longer can Saban and these SEC schools just stockpile the best talent, pay them under the table and they are stuck. Guaranteeing years of great results with all this talent at their disposal. Players used to go to Bama, Georgia, LSU to get a shot at a ring and would sit to do it. Not now. These players will transfer at the drop of a dime when they feel that team isn't the right fit or they want playing time. And now NIL is willing them to pay them.
I found it funny how many spun it as "The NIL and transfer portal is so bad, it made Saban quit". Nah. Saban knew he no longer had a massive advantage and was not going to be some top ruling team like he was. Those players are now legally paid, not under the table like he was doing.
