  1. Then we wouldn’t be going after Coogan. Hopeful that Flood has enough datapoints on Hutson outside of his little bit of game action this year to feel confident either way.
  2. Presumably Coogan is a 1 and done with being a class of 2021. Having that seniority as a gap bridger to Cruz taking over sounds more attractive than Cole Hutson taking that on, but what do I know.
  3. Right, could be total bullshit. Why I posted it here because there are many in the know. Could just be agents doing agents things after he saw Smith’s huge payday.
  4. Hadn’t seen it mentioned here, but seeing articles that Oregon and Texas are both trying to shake Carnell Tate free.
  5. Amazing the debate ongoing here. Put me in the camp of being a fan of Ehlinger and what he did with what we had, but I don’t think we go 13-3 this year with Ehlinger at QB. I don’t think we’re in a position to allow Bam Ban Sam to do his thing for 1 yard against OSU. I feel we’re discounting Quinn’s accuracy and touch in the short and intermediate. While I’ve only been watching UT football since around 1995 at 9, Quinn’s touch on short and intermediate may be the best we’ve had in my watching lifetime. I don’t recall Colt’s ability to throw over defenders in that 8-20 yard range being as elite, but his accuracy was the best I’ve seen in short and intermediate at the end of his career. I will say knowing that I’ll get shit for this, with Colt I felt he missed more downfield throws than I remember any other QB, in that he didn’t try and opted for the short pass. Countless upon countless times we could have attacked downfield in a 1-1 with the WR with a step or two and we opted for the more sure thing. It worked for him, but I remember as a college kid wondering why he didn't take more shots. After watching his NFL career, it became more clear, but we don’t give Colt the same kind of shit we do Quinn for lack of execution deep because Colt was otherwise great, a gamer, didn’t have the incompletions to show for failed downfield attempts and we won a lot.
  6. And this does align with Jeremiah Smith’s announcement of a new NIL partnership leading up to the NC.
  7. One more portal entry coming today on C&F
  8. Haha. Dude there’s a big difference in having 200K cash on top of the benefits of being a college athlete vs not having 200K. Sure there was Bosworth and countless others of the past, but cash is a requirement for having a “good” drug habit, you know.
  9. While I’d like to think that he’s keeping it between the guardrails with just weed, I just can’t see weed being the instigator of late night ridiculous tweets and posts. True that it affects everyone differently, but in my 20 years of experience between myself or friends that partake, have never seen that kind of behavior being caused by some ganja. Bet the mortgage on some kind of stimulant likely with alcohol.
  10. With the 12 team playoff, we’re going to have to wish for his downfall then, which I can’t do either. I would root for 3 if he’s on ND next year, but then we end up playing ND in the playoffs and that’s going to be a rough day either way as a Texas fan. We had the right idea with Quinn, it just didn’t happen how we all wanted it to. Saying 3 isn’t good is some of the dumbest shit on this site. QE had his warts, but 4th & 13 from the 28 I’ll remember forever. 3 wins over our rivals in the first year of SEC. The Michigan game that I went to will be an all time sports memory for me. We don’t have Arch without Quinn. I could go on. Yes he struggled at times, but there are very few exceptions to the fact that of all the teams we played with Quinn at QB over his 3 years, the team we faced would have rather had 3 as their QB than their own. Hell, every team we played this year probably would have rather had Quinn as their starter, including over Carson Beck or Will Howard. Quinn has been the most positive impactful player to the Texas program since Colt McCoy and I don’t think that’s really up for debate. Ehlinger was a gamer and a great representative of the program, but the results pretty clearly speak for themselves. I hope you’re ready for Arch to throw around 10 ints next year. First year starter that is aggressive with the deep ball. Bound to happen.
  11. Agreed, but psych issues along with alcohol and coke would yield what we’re seeing unfold. The drugs exacerbate the underlying issue. Feel like we’re going to see this more and more with players getting the kinda money they are at that age.
  12. It makes sense in so many ways for Quinn to transfer instead of NFL, I just really hope he doesn’t do it. I don’t want to watch him play in college for another team next year. I don’t want us to play against him next year. As much as we can hand-wring all day about 3, he was our QB, our guy, that brought us back to national relevance. When it comes down to it, he’s gotta make the best decision for him. Just hope he thinks that best decision is backup in the NFL for a season or two before he gets his shot. Can you imagine him leading OSU next year to a victory over us to start the year and then back to back national titles?
  13. This is where I’m at. 9 wins should be our floor. I expect 10-2 at worst next year even with OSU being game 1. We’ve had excellent recruiting classes the past few years now, maybe with the exception of some absolute elite talent on OL since the Banks class. We should be great. Just how great we are depends on one or two impactful portal pickups, how well the OL can mesh together, whether Arch plays at a Heisman level, and whether our interior DL are strong & deep enough to allow our LBs and Ss to clean up the run game. The fact that our corners may take a step back is lessened by the effect of having what may be the best pass rush at Texas in my lifetime.
  14. Gerry on Coffee & Football this morning stated the cost is really high on Damon Wilson, and both him and Bobby alluded to him landing at Ohio State as they were his #2 out of HS and that they have a salary cap of 30 million to spend next year and they have a lot of players coming off the books.
  15. OTF saying most starts by a Longhorn ever, 57, although they admitted not sure how accurate that is. Jake saw a lot in his time at Texas. Feel for him that he came up short last 2 seasons, but so much to be proud of. Best of luck at the next level Jake!
  16. So close man, so close. Was the worst Monday of the year.
  17. I don’t feel like I can replay the 2024-25 season in dynasty. I really enjoyed this team. Wouldn’t feel right to play with them for a long time. Gonna need to sim it as accurate as possible and save a stopping point so I can play the 2025-26 season this spring and summer. This loss hurts though. Gonna have to keep CF25 on the shelf for a long while.
  18. I’m sad the season is over, man. It was a great one, that will leave so many lasting memories. It’s gonna be a long wait until next football season. I care too much, as I’m sure many do here, and having that next game to look forward to when we’re good like we were this year makes me a much happier person. I will miss this year’s team. Many important players played their last game as a Horn yesterday. Man, today is rough.
  19. Can we not make an argument of what Quinn is or isn’t? Next year we have Arch starting. No one is going to challenge or question. Arch may be the best thing to happen to the Forty Acres ever. That said, we need to appreciate Quinn. He won’t be back for which many will be happy, but he brought us back from irrelevance, and brought us to multiple semi finals where we were one play away. Quinn and Sark and our line play brought us to where we are. We’re here to stay. I’m proud to be a Texas Ex and excited for the future.
  20. I love you Quinn. I grew up in a household that cared above all about Texas football. I can relate to the pressure you’ve felt, always. There are many on the shag (bc fuck saying “the surl”) that dealt with otherworldly pressure to succeed throughout their “growth period”. You quite single-handedly brought us back to permanent relevance. Our fans will forever be grateful for you, even if they don’t have the balls to say so today. Thank You Quinn Ewers!
  21. Here’s to Texas doing something they haven’t done all season. We’re about to score twice in the 3rd and hold them to a FG. 17-17 going into the 4th.
  22. Unfuckingacceptable. Why are we aggressive there on a nickel blitz.
