  1. More power to anyone who wants to take this clown our hands, but... WHY? What about Texas basketball over the last four years makes you think "I want to look like that?"
  2. Because sportswriters write crap like this: "There are several good reasons for this, and one of them is that Smart still has the ability to make this work. His Longhorns over the past four seasons have beaten enough good teams and shown enough promise for someone to squint and see a future in which the program finally takes a leap, as unlikely as that scenario seems on days like Saturday." I see a future in which Shaka is finally fired and someone else, anyone else, mercifully gets a chance.
  3. I wonder what it must feel like to be a human poison pill? To know you make so much guaranteed money that they can't afford to fire you? Must be nice. Me, I'd feel grateful enough that I'd at least try to put a product on the court someone might actually want to watch.
  4. To be fair, however, we are #1 in being excruciating to watch. It's a style of sorts.
  5. Just anyone who's better than Shaka is a pretty long list. I can't believe what we're paying this clown. Jackass hit the lottery.
  6. It's just ugly, stupid, sloppy basketball in almost every conceivable way. It's punishing to watch.
  7. He's better than nothing, but I certainly wouldn't be enthused if I were a Skins fan.
  8. He's both. Shaka is a frustratingly mediocre coach whose teams play ugly basketball and who will eventually run UT basketball into the ground if given enough time.
  9. You don't want the havoc, huh? The only havoc I want to see at this point is Shaka being pelted with rancid cheese as he flees with a big bag of Texas money hoisted over his shoulders.
  10. Nice to see this position group finally settling down after so many years of being a fire drill.
  11. Great season until the end. Awesome defense coupled with the typical conservative Akers offense that couldn't squeeze out just one more field goal, let alone a TD, in the Cotton Bowl. That fucking punt call...
  12. Yeah, Havoc. What a joke. I think he's earned a new title. Anyone have any suggestions? Off the top of my head., I've got "Constipation" or "The Heartbreak of Psoriasis." Possibly "Bone Cancer" if you're looking to capture how excruciating this team is to watch.
  13. Texas basketball is like a boring game of fate. You know you're doomed. You can feel it over your shoulder of every minute of every single game. And it doesn't even have the simple decency to throw you a curve ball every once and a while for variety. It's just a tedious, inevitable collection of crapulence that rolls out its mediocrity with relentless, punishing consistency. Who could possibly want to see this again next year? Hell, who wants to see it for even one more minute? This shit is making me nostalgic for Charlie Strong. At least his ineptitude was occasionally funny.
  14. That's a waste of some perfectly good bourbon.
  15. This one kind of felt like a compilation of Shaka's greatest hits. It had all we've come to know and be numbed by with Texas basketball. Losing a large lead to dump by one in overtime really hits the sweet spot. Being ahead by 3 with 22 seconds left and losing is just extra credit for this guy. Style points, really.
  16. He's been good for a few laughs, so there's that. Shame he can't get his head on straight. But at least there's Taco... Crap.
  17. This sounds like one of those "new" product ads of old: "The new and improved Shaka--he still sucks, but now with a poison pill buyout." It's a shame we bought that. Must have had a catchy jingle.
  18. Guess he was always a mirage. One good NCAA run in 2011, then just good records in a small conference with no particular NCAA results to speak of. Kind of like how Charlie had that big Sugar Bowl win before everyone had figured out Muschamp's Florida offenses were always terrible. That Patterson guy sure knew how to pick em, didn't he?
  19. He's beaten us down with the sheer relentlessness of his mediocrity. He's honed it to a crystalline degree of perfection that numbs the mind.
  20. Good discussion. I've wondered that from time to time.
  21. I just don't see Shaka mass dumping games down the stretch. That's not his style. He muddles along--winning one , losing one, winning one, losing two, winning two, losing one--with a precision that's almost hypnotic in its sheer awfulness. If I had to guess, we wind up in the tournament, where we rapidly get bounced. As well we should.
  22. Hard to argue with any of that. I will note, however, that this brief discussion of why we are so amazingly mediocre is more entertaining than actually watching us play. At least most of the time.
  23. Elway went for a serious QB once--Peyton. Ever since, he's been trying to just get by with marginal prospects or marginal vets. It seems bizarre at this point.
