  1. Damn sorry to hear this. RIP Ced.
  2. Surely that's because everyone but him has messed up. Mike White cannot fail. He can only be failed by others.
  3. I guess it could sink, too. That should qualify as an underthrow.
  4. In the spirit of the day, that container ship should probably screw up and miss the Philippines.
  5. Hmm. Mike White looked just a tad stoppable tonight. On the plus side, however, not just anyone can complete 7 of 13 passes for 30 yards with only one interception. That's a whole 2.3 yards per attempt. Not to mention that a QB rating of 27.4 is often misunderstood.
  6. So, basically, your claim is that just about anyone, except for Dak, could get 12 wins with this roster, setting aside that one time Dak got 13.
  7. How much per hour will Mike White make stocking shelves at Home Depot? 12? Depends on what state he settles in when he washes out of football. But he'll damn sure be an unstoppable shelf stocking machine.
  8. Unstoppable, huh? Don't you think that's just a tad over the top?
  9. Exactly--who does give a shit? Neither team has much to be proud of from 2010-2018. A&M was marginally better because of the Johnny Football Heisman season and Texas' 3-year sinkhole with Charlie Strong (abetted by prior weak recruiting from Mack for those still butthurt that Charlie got fired). But no one with a brain would consider that an accomplishment.
  10. I wholeheartedly agree. If Dak goes down, we're toast.
  11. I think this is correct. Jerry only wants another ring if he can take credit for it. That's why he's still officially the GM. We're fortunate he's letting other people do much of the work anymore, but don't doubt that his big cancerous ego will still rise up and crush anything around him if he sees a real shot at self glorification.
  12. Yeah, it was a "tragic accident" only in the sense that complex and dangerous construction activities undertaken without properly established rules and supervision can easily become "tragic accidents." Honest people prefer the term "negligence."
  13. Sure you can. Just invent a transporter and have a malfunction like they did with Captain Kirk in that Star Trek episode.
  14. It's dumb to rank solely by winning percentage. That penalizes the real "best" coaches who stuck around long enough to accumulate some losses. Kind of like those idiotic Super Bowl standings that show up every January with the f**king New York Jets and their 1-0 record ranked above the Cowboys, Steelers, Patriots and 49ers.
  15. Way to change the subject. The lack of conference championships is one of the weak marks on Mack's record. That doesn't negate the fact that he recruited well for a long stretch and made Texas consistently relevant on the national scene in a way no one had since Royal. The same guy both won a national title and left us trending down. You take the good with the bad. Of course, some coaches not to be named don't have much good to tote up.
  16. I think once you get much past the 2nd round, it's hard to say how any of these guys will turn out. NFL-wide, a few will be great surprises, some will be nothing much, and some will contribute for a varying number of years. Not really much point in arguing it until we see them play. We are better at this than we used to be under Jerry. Since 2010, we've actually been pretty good with 1rst round choices. 2nd round has worked more often than not as well. 3rd and beyond has been spottier, but there have been some contributors and one noticeable surprise with Dak (I know some people are down on him now, but he's done more than you expect from a 4th rounder). I credit other people, not Jerry, but the difference is noticeable. Now that I've said it, watch us go all in on another special teams draft in 2020.
  17. This is a blatantly unfair representation of Charlie's ability. That cake looks far too good.
  18. I would hope we can all agree that Rick had kind of played out here. A change was needed, though no one could possibly have foreseen the relentlessly ugly, dull and sedated "havoc" it would cause. And I would agree that the only proper response at this point is... FUCK SHAKA! At least Charlie Strong was inadvertently amusing from time to time. His haplessness had a freakish quality to it, and he left after only three years. Shaka is a pure, 100% grade Z grind, and we're chained to him forever.
  19. Yes. Yes, we do. And it really does feel like the third year of Charlie Strong. At least as Texans we can take a little pride in Tech playing basketball like it's supposed to be played. Maybe Shaka should watch them.
  20. Should have made it this year. At this point in Shaka's career as the Texas coach, simply making the tourney next year is the minimum expectation, not some great accomplishment that validates him.
  21. Good for Tech. They earned it--they play a solid brand of basketball.
  22. I hope we win for the players, but look on the bright side. If we don't win, there;s always that "NIT Runner-up" Banner. I'm sure it's almost as prestigious as the championship one.
  23. The mere fact that the NCAA takes 68 basketball teams means you're in some pretty mediocre territory at best trying to cobble together a tournament out of what's left. I'll accept and support the players wanting to win. It's kind of pathetic, however, to treat raising the NIT banner as any kind of event.
