  1. They didn't lose. They just ran out of innings.
  2. Well, they kind of have to believe this stuff, right? The alternative is looking in the mirror and realizing they're just a bunch of fucking weirdos. By choice. I swear, somewhere hidden away in the A&M Academic Building there must be a painting of an Adonis Aggie surrounded by championship trophies -- The Portrait of Dorian Aggy. The hideous one is walking around in real life because they want to be the hideous one.
  3. We're in a lot better shape than anyone expected us to be after Beard lost his mind, and that's got to count for something. Hire him for goood.
  4. I'm all in with Maroon Goons. That should be the nickname for A&M in general.
  5. What's Bjork supposed to do? The game, it be over. The Aggy, it be sad.
  6. If "buzz's team are never great defending the 3," isn't that a problem? Last time I looked, "the 3" is kind of relevant to modern basketball.
  7. What else could they do, given that every single action in the college sporting world is taken with the intent of screwing A&M. Everyone knows the NCAA was giving them a 7th seed for the sole purpose of demoralizing them. The only honorable response was to preemptively demoralize themselves.
  8. They really though that when they joined the SEC, they'd found a cultural fit that would appreciate all their weirdness. When that didn't happen, they became determined to buy respect with Jimbo Baggins and his bags of power. It never occurs to them to just be normal and see what happens. Now all the "true Ags" are filled with fury that their love for the SEC, which was always just another version of their bizarre self-love, is unrequited. They're going to make everybody pay! (snarl, snarl) And then they'll be great. Aggie--they want so badly to be an abusive spouse, but they can't find anyone stupid enough to marry them.
  9. You just don't understand how awesome they are. Nobody understands how awesome they are, and they're going to whine and snivel about it, and do fucking Yell Practice wherever is most annoying in your home town, and kill as many of themselves with gigantic logs as it takes until all you Godless heathens acknowledge the sublime perfection that is Aggy. Cuz that's how life works, right?
  10. In the interest of further fairness, there are a number of Ags who attended it simply because it was a big university in the state and who are almost as appalled by its cult-like attributes as we are. The TRUE AG is becoming a smaller percentage with each generation.
  11. It's inherent to their world view. The fact that they haven't achieved the greatness that is their birthright is proof that everyone has conspired to keep them down. The possibility that they're just some weird, country ass rubes with fetishes masquerading as traditions never occurs to them.
  12. There's a simple reason Texas-Texas A&M isn't big on a national level, and it's the same reason Texas-Texas A&M pales compared to Texas-Oklahoma. Basically, Texas and Texas A&M haven't played each other much when they were both good. Historically, one of them has typically been down, compared to Texas-Oklahoma, which have played a lot of games when both were considered good. The wins feel epic, the loses hurt, and the whole thing thus feels bigger. Now, I'll admit that the scheduling alone accounts for some of that. Texas plays OU early in the season when the cumulative opportunities to shit the bed are limited. So maybe on of the two teams is inflated in the rankings. But it is what it is. I've really known the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat with Texas-OU over the years. I can still recall tiny details of many games. Most games with Aggie barely make an impression at all. If they're on TV, I watch them just because they're a Texas game. I don't give a shit about the Aggie side of the equation. And as cruel as it sounds, the most significant game-related impression Aggie has made in memory is offing themselves with the bonfire. And yes, it was a tragedy, and the students killed had loved ones. But is was also an irresponsible, stupid, and completely avoidable tragedy. I remember when the news bulletin first flashed that students had been killed in "the collapse of a large structure on campus." I instantly knew what it was. My other distinct memory is of a loathsome Aggy with no sense of perspective explaining to a horrified national reported that bonfire symbolized "our burning hatred of TU." Jesus Christ. Young people are dead for no reason at all, and they just can't quit. Even for a minute.
  13. So, that would be a clear "fuck Ketch" recommendation? I can't say I have a problem with that.
  14. You forgot a dysfunctional culture engendered by a senile owner playing favorites.
  15. I don't get this, either. The Cowboys made it to 50% of the Super Bowls in the 70s and 70% of the NFC championship games. They followed that up by making three straight NFC title games in 80-82. That's a hell of a run even if you acknowledge the Steelers as the dominant team of the 70s. It was a lot of fun and is in no rational way comparable to a team that has failed to win a divisional round playoff team in 27 years. To say that was a fucking myth is total bullshit.
  16. I looked at an NRL video on hip drop tackles, and rugby seems to be dealing with a severe manifestation. All of the examples shown involved a ball carrier who was already engaged in the upper body by one or two tacklers when another defender engaged low with what seemed clear intent to place his body weight on the leg. That seems like a circumstance that can clearly be recognized and disallowed. Interestingly, the one example they showed of something not ruled as a hip drop tackle involved a lone defender tackling from behind with his body drop just the natural movement downward that physically happens in a tackle.
  17. I think that was determined a long time ago. Jones is a sack of shit. Absolutely.
  18. I read an article today claiming that the tackle used on Pollard when he was hurt should be made illegal. Like the horse collar tackle. What do people here think? I watched the play again and that tackle doesn't seem to be an identifiably dangerous technique like the horse collar. It just looks like one big man lunging to bring down another, which is what tackling is. You can't make it a nonviolent act. Sure, on slow motion you can see how the injury occurred, but in real speed there doesn't seem any intent to do harm. It's just two guys going down in a tumble where the positioning of each body is essentially random. You can't make simply grabbing someone from behind, or grabbing someone by the waist, a penalty can you?
  19. To be fair, he's a perfectly adequate, sometimes even good, regular season QB. But he doesn't elevate his game come playoff time, apparently because of certain limits in his ability. And I'd have to agree that, at this point, it's unlikely coaching or more reps can overcome that.
  20. Danny White was quite effective for a few years until both he and the overall team aged out.
  21. I was listening to some of the post-game chatter, and a fair amount of it was how sick the Cowboys should be for squandering "their chance." I realize fucking Jerry contributes to this by pretending every year is the Cowboy's year, like it's some kind of birth right, but why does everyone else have to play along? It's been 27 years since the Cowboys won a second-round playoff game. Now, I realize Jerry and company have finally assembled a team with decent talent, but based on the record, all that entitles them to is recognition as a potential playoff team next year. They don't belong in any discussion of the NFL elite and won't until they start consistently producing meaningful playoff wins. But on the plus side, it was amusing to see that last play on multiple replays, with Zeke getting absolutely annihilated as Center.
  22. After all these years of futility, I really can't bring myself to begrudge anyone stealing some of Jerry's money.
  23. He's an above average QB. Unfortunately, he also appears to be the living embodiment of the old cliche "Just good enough to get you beaten in the playoffs.'
