  1. Thanks. We've been quarantined two weeks already, since we knew she had potential exposure. We'll tack on another two but I think we would have shown something by now (or soon). No underlying conditions, so I think we'll be in the 80% with minor impact. Anyone that's been to NYC recently or associated with someone that has been is 100% exposed. Act accordingly. I know this shit is serious but she's now quarantining herself and wearing surgical gloves. Honey, cat's out of the bag.
  2. My wife was in NYC two weeks ago. I almost posted in the Wives thread because every time a symptom was released she'd suddenly have it (Hear my dry cough? Feel my forehead. Ugh, diarrhea. I can't smell the tacos!) She go tested two days ago, result: positive. So the kids and I must have it. Asked the doc if we should get tested also and he said no, just quarantine for 14 days, let him know if anyone gets sick. No symptoms, nada, other than the desire to drink more. Which is nice.

  4. That's where I'm at. Higher interest rate for limited personal guarantee. Private lenders are weird as shit, very loosey goosey on loan administration - completely different from traditional banks. One thing they have in common is refusal to revise construction loan docs.
  5. Your words to God's ears. I had a good relationship with a construction lender pre 2008 (since closed by the FDIC) where I could negotiate some loan doc revisions here and there. Since then? A pretty firm 'go fuck yourself' from any construction lender I tried to work with. No revisions to docs, nada. Want our money? Great, here are our terms. Sign it or don't. I was already reticent to sign beforehand, but now? Either close up my own shop or quite literally take the plunge.
  6. How did those calls go? I'm a real estate developer that was just about to sign a $7MM construction loan with a hard completion date. The force majeure provision was limited with no pandemic language. Now this lender has temporarily closed up shop and isn't funding any draws. Nice, right? I understand construction crews needing to push forward, but how long does this go on if the lenders don't fund. Hopefully this ends soon and we don't have to find out.
  7. I watched a cherry pit spitting contest from Michigan today. One of the contestants said he practiced in the "off season" by spitting fishing weights and chewing gum. I also watched Kobayashi destroy the competition in the Wisconsin Brat eating contest. Prior to the start, the announcers noted that one of the contestants had broken a finger, but removed his cast because he wanted to "play through the pain." The announcers taking this shit seriously are almost as entertaining as the ATHLETES. Yes, I said it.
  8. That's a pretty good metaphor. Time to move on and mobilize those that didn't jump. It'll be interesting to see how they react if Trump is defeated and the mask is lifted via lawsuits. Betting line says they still stay over on the other side of the chasm until he dies or they die. And then even we aren't out of the woods if Fox News continues as is. /DebbieDowner.gif
  9. Listening to this fucker ramble is quite the spectacle. Can you imagine being a banker sitting across from him and ask, "Have you or your family sold any stock" and get that answer? Jesus fucking Christ, he'd be laughed out of the office and tossed on his ass. Except if your Deutsche Bank I guess. Mind boggling he's even been approved for a goddamn credit card.
  10. I did this yesterday based on your recommendation. I now feel like a Mack truck ran over me. JFC that is some hard shit. I liked it though and plan on sticking with the program over the next few weeks. I did 2 rounds at around 30 minutes and it flew by, I think because of the quick transitions you're constantly focused on what you're doing and what you're about to do. I posted this on the elliptical thread but I got this for Christmas: https://hydrow.com. It's child's play compared to Athlean, but it's a decent work out to mix into the rotation and take pressure off pain spots from running. Also recommend the Theragun for recovery if you're getting up in the years.
  11. ^^ re the NYT article: The personal guarantee on commercial business loans is a big deal that hasn't been discussed much to date. It should be. The force majeure provisions in loan documents are mostly silent on pandemics. So lenders will soon be facing the choice of enforcing those loan terms on businesses that can't make them, or invoke a forbearance program. There will be extreme pressure for lenders to give their borrowers a pass until they can figure shit out - but I don't see it. Unfortunately the big boys with future business in the offing will get a pass on their loan terms, while the little guy will get fucked. Hope I'm wrong, but after dealing with commercial banks in 2008-09 I assume they will do everything possible to get their money regardless of personal or societal impact. Part of the "stimulus" package shouldn't just be injecting money into the system, it should be prohibiting lenders from enforcing money out of the system.
  12. Fight Club. Fucking great movie. Acting, visuals, soundtrack, outstanding. Didn't read the source material, but Fincher took what he got and put it on steroids. I also thought the underlying theme of a generation pissed off was pretty clever: We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no great war. No great depression. Our great war's a spiritual one...our great depression...is our lives. So they fight. And blow shit up.
  13. Their stocks will get hit, but they'll be fine, they self finance or have the muscle to tell the banks to fuck off. Smaller, private builders (like me) are busy reading their construction loans (with personal guarantees) to see if the force majeure clauses include pandemics or not. Google Law says if they don't (which my guess is most) then it's a very gray area and lenders could press for a default. I'd be interested in Surly Lawyer opinion on this.
  14. I like to run, but started having some patella tendon soreness, so my wife bought me a Hydrow for Christmas to mix it up a bit. Highly recommend. https://hydrow.com You'll need to turn it up a notch beyond the instructors to get a cardio workout, but once you figure it out the 20 or 30 minute workouts turn into some hard shit.
  15. I like that dude. Pulling for him to do well.
  16. That sucks. I was looking forward to this. I've been following F1 more from the Netflix series. And @wood updates.

After 5 episodes of his batshit crazy mom and her antics, on top of a dead mob father, I expected the Colombo kid to be additional collateral damage from this bullshit. Surprising and nice to see that he turned out okay, had his own family, etc. Kid is tough.
  18. Yeah, only hesitancy is there are probably a lot of people around the world thinking the same thing and saying "Our Hawaii trip is on!" Then the 8 or 9 day symptomatic period kicks in while they're there, they get tested, and boom, it's on. I just don't know enough about this fucking thing to make a final decision yet. We're all healthy with no underlying conditions, so I'm leaning toward just being smart about hygiene/travel/personal distance and going. But if this thing gets nastier we'll pull the plug.
  19. Our family goes to Maui every year for Spring Break (timeshare suckers) at the end of March. Hawaii seems to be weathering this well, so no plans to cancel unless LAX or UAL shut us down. If things really go haywire then we'll stay home.
  20. Welp, in case anyone didn't think this is serious: my Starbucks (and I assume all others) pulled the creamer off the table. Now if you want cream you have to have the barista pour it for you. Fuck that. Looks like I'm going black for a while (what she said). Or better yet I'll snuggle up to my Nespresso machine and stay home.
  21. I think Joe has that covered. I like Harris for the female of color part, but mostly because I think she is smart as shit and would devastate the Pence or whatever Republican dipshit they march out to carry Trump's water. She's got balls, something this fucking country needs right now. Amy does too, just don't think she brings the gas you think she does.
  22. Poober Too close to Uber. I just rewatched and JB's guest house has a velvet 70's naked chick painting above the couch. Details.
  23. Watching this season I feel like I get to have a few beers for an hour with a good buddy I lost contact with. Only thing that seems a tad bit off is Gus; he is fucking severe in every scene he's in. Part of his allure as a sociopath in BB was the over-the-top fast food owner that wanted to do whatever possible to make customers happy. "May I refill your cup?" I thought the scene cleaning the fryer might be that opportunity, but nope, he's a stone cold narco boss. Small quibble. I'm all in and enjoying the ride.
  24. I'll be shocked if he doesn't pick Harris.
  25. Digging this new tune from Ed O'Brien of Radiohead.
