  1. Nah, just put it in the fucking bag.
  2. Along those same lines, I'd like to see some commercials with quotes from Republicans during the 2016 primary. IIRC "pathological liar" and "narcissistic sociopath" were used by a few of Trump's competitors during that time, and that slime ball Graham. Commercial could be something like "Hey Republican voter, don't listen to us, listen to your own leadership." Run that fucker on a loop.
  3. I guess this as good a place as any to post. Pretty fun. Insert the *I want this* gif.
  4. When I'm at the check out line buying my booze and cholesterol increasing keto groceries that number, say 25 items, and the cashier asks, "Need a bag?" No thanks! I'm a fucking kangaroo with a pouch under my shirt, but thanks for asking! Yes I need a fucking bag.
  5. Considering the title of the show, it's taken a little too long to get here IMO. But I'm glad we're now firmly in the Saul Goodman pre BB universe. I think Kim exits stage left in okay shape; if something bad happened to her the happy go lucky Saul in BB would never exist. He still has some Jimmy in him, and would have too much guilt to continue his shtick if his actions caused her any harm. She dusts him and moves on. I'm way more interested in the pre BB and post BB Cinnabon stuff than I am in helping her bank client evict a tenant. That said, the interaction between her and the old man are why Vince Gilligan and his writers are head and shoulders above anyone else. She makes a concerted effort to return, knock on the door, make an impassioned and logical argument as to why it's in his best interest to move. And he ignores it all and tells her to fuck off. That's how life really goes, and that's why VG and his writers are fucking brilliant (along with the awesome characters and storylines they've created).
  6. Looking forward to the showdown in the cave (don't fuck it up). Question: what was the deal with the office scene between the (I think) DA and his hot employee. A must have missed a detail somewhere along the way. Is this a new kid they've found? And why does he seem nervous? Then he looks over the death photos as if he knows something he isn't telling.
  7. I don't think so. An undefeated Texas team would be #1 over a 1 loss Miami. It's been a long time, but if memory serves the voters relied heavily on won loss records in their rankings. All the analysis and SOS stuff came into play way after this game, IIRC. Also the Longhorn outside linebacker was tackled by an O lineman on the TD run. No call, fucking bullshit.
  8. Two thumbs up. Started strong out of the box and didn't let up with plot twists and surprises - one scene where the entire audience gasped. I get the whole Moss look take; I share it a bit. Watching this movie I had the same opinion through the first 25% or so, but after her character is spelled out a bit, and she is allowed to act her ass off, I I didn't give a shit what she looked like. Woman is a fucking great actress.
  9. Cue the "investigate Hunter Biden!" on Fox News. Didn't seem too important when Bernie was winning.
  10. If you want to be even more blown away by the accomplishment, go to Yosemite, walk up to the base of El Cap and look up. The documentary was fantastic, however the sheer enormity of El Cap can't really be grasped on a screen. Me and my kids just stood there for a few minutes in complete silence, stunned that someone climbed the thing with their bare hands.
  11. New music is played on this station every day. Highly recommend. https://www.885fm.org Example 1
  12. This show has become appointment viewing for me. I like the slow burn, moody, weird aspect to it all. I think it's organic for people to take some time to come around to accept something supernatural is happening in the real world - especially when kids are being half eaten and the perps aren't anywhere near the crime. That takes a lot of talking and character development to get there. Sure I could pick apart the show here and there, but that's not why I watch fictional television shows. I want to be entertained. The eating episodes are grisly as hell just with sound. They made the right choice not showing too much - sound was plenty. Endings of stories are really important, so if they fuck it up I reserve the right to discount everything above and say this show sucked.
  13. ^^ That is a fucking solid pull from the past. I'll add since it's the weekend and I'm getting old.
  14. Time for an offseason update on my wife's shenanigans: She decided to stop drinking a few months ago, so the time previously spend drinking wine and watching Netflix is now spent brainstorming new business ideas. I came home this weekend to a bunch of arts and crafts shit all over the dining table, with her unloading Michael's bags. Me: What's up? Wife: You know how gold necklaces always get knotted up? Me: No, but I'll take your word for it. Wife: Well it's really bad when you travel. So I'm going to come up with some kind of carrying case that I can put my necklaces in when I travel, WITHOUT knotting up. Me: (wagging my finger, lying my ass off). Now THAT sounds like a winner. Wife: I know! Speaking of jewelry I forgot to tell you about the diamond thing. Me: (deep breath) Diamond thing? Wife: Remember that Canadian couple we met in Cabo? Well I've stayed in contact with the wife. We'd like to go into business with one another but couldn't find the right opportunity. Well, she found one. We're going to try to reopen a dormant diamond mine on Eskimo land. I shit you not. Reopen a dormant diamond mine on Eskimo land. Me: Have you started drinking again? (leans in to smell breath) Wife: Oh stop! She has good government connections for this kind of thing. We'll just need to round up some investors. Me: I'd think so, to the tune of 10's of millions of dollars. Wife: Nah, not that much, we're only going for a controlling interest at 51% I walk away shaking my head. This is becoming a runaway locomotive, so after a couple of hours of more head shaking I decide it's time to apply some brakes. I decide to tell her about that scrunchie into a cup cover thing that @mulletpellini posted a few weeks back. I pull up the article on my phone and hand it to her, hold my breath. Wife: (reads a bit) Shit! (sits down, keeps reading) A scrunchie on a cup lid?! Who the hell wants hair in their drink? So dumb. Ours is completely different. Me: (shoulder shrug) Just thought you'd like to know. Wife: Just goes to show you what a good idea it was. Women have to protect themselves from getting roofied. Animals out there. So my attempt at placing brakes on this locomotive have been torched to shreds and lie smoldering on the side of the tracks. Oh well, I've never met Eskimos before. Sounds kind of cool.
  15. I rewatched Chernobyl recently. The lead physicist was looking back on the the tragedy and talking into his recorder. He was bemoaning how the truth of what happened was suppressed by Soviet leadership. He said something to the effect of "If you lie to people often enough, and long enough, they will no longer know how to see the truth when it is presented to them." It struck me that's why the Republican Part has snuggled up to the Russians. They've embraced Soviet style propaganda, and are lying to people so often the truth is beyond their grasp. All for power.

This hits close to home, as my son goes to school with Zaya. All indications are this is a legit transgender issue, and not some call for attention. My understanding is the school and the students have been very supportive, so she is growing up in a healthy environment. One interesting side bar: the school has an Advisory class, where students can talk about different issues affecting them day to day. Advisory has historically been a same sex class, however they've recently started a trial run of mixed classes. They haven't announced anything, but I assume the awkwardness of which side a transgender student belongs was the impetus. My son wasn't happy about these mixed Advisories at first, but reports after a few weeks it's no big deal and everyone has adjusted just fine.
  17. Why is this not the common response? Because we live in a society of me versus them. It's not difficult, be considerate of the people around you. I fly SW a lot for business, and pay for the upgraded seat assignment, because I'm 6'4, as is every other Surly poster. I pay the extra fee for early boarding FOR THAT SPECIAL SEAT IN THE EMERGENCY ROW that has nothing in front of it. It is a gift from God. If your'e ahead of me and take that seat and are under 6 feet, a POX on you and your family. Someone did this to me recently. He was short, Attendant gave me the head shake like "sorry, guy's an asshole"
  18. Gorgeous car! I'm restoring a 70 but I've always preferred the 69 - more aggressive styling. After 2 years of searching had to finally pull the trigger on a 70. What tire size are you going with on the 15s? I'm about to pull the trigger on front 225/60/15 and rear 245/60/15. Up the aggressive look of the 70.
  19. Finished this recently. A lot to unpack on the last episode and season. Honest, complicated characters. I've watched it all in bunches and gaps over time, but I never really gave it 100% attention. Just thought it was an odd animated show to entertain me after a couple of cocktails. I think I made a mistake. It's a worth a rewatch to pay attention to the details.
  20. One of my favorite trips of all time. We enjoyed a few days in the northern part of the country. Hit Ceasare (highly recommend), stopped at a kibbutz near Meggido for lunch and a tour. My wife found a boutiquey spa like place in the forested, kind of mountainous area north of Galilee. They had horse ride tours and other outings to entertain the whole family. Been awhile, can't recall the name, but I'm sure some Googling would render results. The history of the country is astounding. I looked over the valley near Meggido for awhile, wondering how those whacky early Christians thought that would be a nice place for an Armageddon. Haifa gardens were cool, but not much else to see there. Didn't get to Acre, but if I ever go back that's on the list, see some Templar stuff.
  21. Little Boy Blue? He needed the money.
  22. Pork butt went on around 8 hours ago. Looks like we'll be eating at halftime.
  23. A trial? Those boys are folk heroes! They're criminals. Well most folk heroes start as criminals!
  24. When you lend your truck to someone with a full tank and they return it half full. Yeah, that's not going to fucking happen again.
  25. I worked with a guy from Notre Dame that told a good team name story. His freshman year someone left a lifelike dildo in the mayonnaise bowl in the cafeteria as a prank. Fast forward a couple months and the intramural basketball names were published. One of them was "Hey, There's a Dick in the Mayonnaise." Said they were a terrible team, but after their first win they started calling themselves the "Up and Cummers."
