  2. There were 600 channels of content on last night, and I chose to watch The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly for the 1000th time. I can report that (1) I was highly entertained, (2) it remains the best Western, (3) it is a top 10 movie of all time, and (4) Eli Wallach not only deserved to be nominated, he should have won. (I tried to find my original thread, alas, search has failed me.)
  3. The husband of the coach that died in the crash was just on CNN. I haven't really gotten emotional about this until listening to him. He gave a moving eulogy to his wife, how awesome Kobe was to his kids. Dude is stronger than I could ever be.
  4. We used these guys and highly recommend: https://www.sorrentoluxurycharter.it/ Depending on where your house is, they can pick you up at smaller marinas. They picked us up in Vico Equense IIRC Ask the captain to stop for lunch here in Nerano: http://www.ristorantecantuccio.com/
  5. This keto business is no joke. I'm doing it to lower my overall body fat and noticing a difference in less than a month. One thing bothering me was lack of sweets. I'd have massive urges for something sweet and eventually found this dessert. It's decadent as hell, just need a couple bites now and then to ease the urge. First batch lasted me over a week. Instructions seem like a pain in the ass but it was pretty easy. Ignore the dumb fucking name. Sugar Free Sex In A Pan Prep Time 50 mins Cook Time 30 mins Chill Time 4 hrs Total Time 1 hr 20 mins Sex in a pan - yes that really is the name of this luscious and creamy dessert recipe! And this version is keto and sugar-free, so it's a delicious way to indulge. Layers of cheesecake and creamy chocolate pudding, with a chocolate cookie crust. Course: Dessert Cuisine: American Keyword: chocolate lasagna, sex in a pan Servings: 16 servings Calories: 303 kcal Ingredients Chocolate Crust: 1 1/4 cups almond flour 1/4 cup cocoa powder 1/4 cup powdered Swerve Sweetener 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 cup butter, melted 1 tbsp water Cheesecake Layer: 8 ounces cream cheese, softened 1/3 cup powdered Swerve Sweetener 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, room temperature Chocolate Pudding Layer: 1 cup heavy whipping cream 1 cup unsweetened almond milk 1/2 cup powdered Swerve Sweetener 4 large egg yolks 1/2 tsp xanthan gum 1/3 cup cocoa powder 3 tbsp butter, cut into 3 pieces 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Whipped Cream Topping: 1 cup heavy whipping cream, chilled 3 tbsp powdered Swerve Sweetener 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1 tbsp cocoa powder 1/2 ounce sugar free dark chocolate Instructions Crust: Preheat the oven to 325F and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan. In a medium bowl, whisk together the almond flour, cocoa powder, sweetener and salt. Add the melted butter and water and stir until the mixture begins to clump together. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom of the pan and bake about 15 minutes, or until just firm to the touch. Remove and let cool. Cream Cheese Layer: In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and sweetener together until smooth. Beat in the vanilla.. Add the cream and beat until smooth, then spread over the cooled crust and refrigerate while preparing the chocolate layer. Chocolate Pudding Layer: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine almond milk, whipping cream and sweetener. Bring to a simmer, stirring to dissolve the sweetener. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg yolks until smooth. Slowly whisk about 1/2 cup of the hot cream mixture into the yolks to temper. Then slowly whisk tempered yolks back into saucepan. Reduce heat to medium low and sprinkle surface with the xanthan gum, whisking vigorously to combine. Whisk in the cocoa powder and cook until thickened, about 3 or 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add the butter pieces and vanilla. Whisk until smooth. Let cool 15 minutes and then spread over cheesecake layer. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Whipped Cream Topping: Beat the cream with sweetener and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread over the chocolate pudding layer. Dust with cocoa powder (this works best through a fine sieve). Use a vegetable peeler or cheese slicer to shave chocolate over top. Chill another hour to help set completely. 6. Larry David is fucking brilliant with his JB Smoove casting. Every scene they are in together is completely outrageous and 100% gold. "Old motherfuckers like you aren't out this late, you must be tappin' that ass!" Latte Larry's. This is going to get good.
  7. This is fucking amazing. I met the dude at a Mexican resort around 20 years ago. Super nice guy, think he was with his fiancé or recent bride at the time. The vodka had just started showing up at bars a few months before our trip. I remember looking over the vodka bottles and asking the bartender "what the fuck is that, a vodka from Texas?" Thought it was a gimmick, had one, moved on. I can't remember if he actually introduced himself as Tito, but the conversation quickly went to his vodka business. I asked him how he got a Texas vodka in bars outside Texas, and IIRC, he said he had to get to 200k cases before he could get a distribution deal. To get that he had to drive his truck all over the state hand deliver cases to bars. He busted his ass to sell his product, and eventually hit the number and a distributor picked up his product. 20 years ago he seemed relieved to have made it over the hump to afford a nice resort vacation; now he must be laughing like Charlton Heston. I can take his vodka or leave it, but I buy it now and then knowing it's a great entrepreneurship story. csb/ a Tito's add popped up on my computer when I was drunk on Tito's a few years ago. I sent an email to the company email address saying something to the effect of "Hey man, remember me, congratulations on your success!" I never heard back. /csb
  8. This has thread content potential. I'd like to see more details about the last two sentences - we're all assholes, no need to hold back. The opportunity to accidentally slip her another one down the road and report back could also be gold. Could also be divorce, but there's another thread for that.
  9. With free SWA travel I'd suggest Hawaii, but that might be too far with the kids. We do it every year and it's perfect. Cut it in half and stop in LA. Checks all your boxes.
  10. Hear about the guy that lost his whole left side in an accident. He's all right.
  11. Why was a millionaire and his wife on a 3 hour tour on the piece of shit Minnow? Come on, he would have his own boat, or at least splurged for a private tour. And Ginger? She's fresh off a night fucking some dude, doing the walk of shame in a sequined dress, and says, hey! maybe I should take a boat tour? Baffling.
  12. Reminds me of a game I used to play with my kids. No one gets hurt but the rider, so everyone wins. Fast forward to 2:00 or so and wait for the hospital bills.

Came to post Devil Beating his Wife but see that's covered. I thought it sounded cool as a kid but now I'm thinking WTF? Who comes up with something like that. And what is it supposed to mean, the sunny raindrops are the wife's tears? My mee maw would always say "You don't mean it!" in hard Texas drawl whenever I told her some dumb kid story. It was meant kind of like, "That's fantastic!" She'd say it over and over and I'd just nod my head and smile. Grandpa told me I was "grinning like a dog eating shit" when he bought me a Chunky one time.
  14. This bad boy just went for $120k for a children's charity. Buyer is from Austin so you guys keep an eye out - looks like it will be part of another good cause, Ride Drive Give. Go drive it and give them some money. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1966-ford-bronco-20/
  15. Flora Farms. You should probably make reservations soon, they fill way in advance. Also book a lunch and a dinner - you'll want to go back. I like Edith's but most people can take it or leave it. Pro tip: If you want to spend the day in town, or go to the tourist beach to jet ski, get a day pass at Casa Dorado hotel. For non guests I think they're $35 each for the day. You get to hang out at the pool, park your stuff, and walk through a guarded gate right to the beach. The cool part is the $35 is a credit at the pool bar - anything you eat or drink is offset against the day pass fee. Might not be your thing, but each trip we always do the ATV tour on the way to Todos Santos. I think it's Cactus something or other. They haul ass through the desert and end up on a beautiful beach. Flying around, kicking up sand, watching waves crash against the rocks - never gets old.
  16. We stayed there. That hotel absolutely saved that portion of our trip. Venice was unbearably crowded, so staying on the island gave us space to relax. Kids could ride bikes, pool was great. We'd take the shuttle into the city and after about an hour of elbowing our way through the streets, we'd say fuck it, and go back to the island. Probably won't be that bad in April, but it's nice to know you can get away from everything whenever you want. We stayed in the newer townhouses which were very nice. Not sure about the rooms in the main building. If you're into cars they have day trips to the Lamborghini and Pagani factories. Also private boat tours to cruise around the city. We also lucked into finding this little gem of a hotel. https://www.hotelcapolagala.com/ It's on the water between Naples and Sorrento. Great location to do Pompeii and close to a marina for a cruise around Capri.
  17. Happy Valley. Name is odd as there is nothing happy about this show and I didn't see a valley ... anyway I can take or leave police/crime shows but the Brits do it very well (Line of Duty another). Acting is fantastic, writing is as well, interesting plot twists. The BBC crime shows just seem to be more realistic than US versions, they aren't afraid to get hardcore in what they show, killing off characters as necessary to fit the plot. Season 1 has a little Fargo feel to it. Looking forward to Season 2.
  18. Your hat tip to PA deserves respect. There are no two greater sacrifices to 70s disaster films than Gene Hackman and Shelly Winters (RIP). However your disrespectful note on Earthquake shall not go without a firm rebuke. I present to you the tits of Victoria Principal, a porn dude I do not know, SHAFT, and Academy Award winner George Kennedy. Charlton Heston also laughs at your dismissive take on the greatness that is EARTHQUAKE 1974. *Also thread title sucks*
  19. Well your recipe from page 1 is fantastic. Wife wanted some chile for NYE so I poked around and took the plunge. Followed directions very closely with only minor modifications. And I could not find any "$#@&in", but it turned out great anyway. 3 adults and 2 kids polished this off in 30 minutes. A request was made for Batch #2 which was summarily rejected as I was having too much fun being the food hero, getting drunk and watching the Longhorns kick the shit out of Utah. Nice way to end the year, thanks for that.
  20. We stayed at the Four Seasons and would go back in a heartbeat. Le Meridian appeared just as nice when we picked up a couple to go jet skiing. Save your money, you can look at the mountain from the pool/beach bar. You'll be fucking anyway so who cares about the OWB view. (Privacy is a non issue, you'll be fine.)
  21. Saw it yesterday. I'm a huge fan of Dan Carlin's podcast, so I was prepared to be disappointed. I was not; they did a great job putting the viewer in some horrific circumstances. Visuals and cinematography are off the charts. Oscar is in the bag I think. I'll spoiler my minor critiques:
  22. We did Bora Bora and Moorea two years ago. Amazing place, highly recommend. If I were to do it again I'd skip Moorea and spend the whole trip in Bora Bora. Bora seemed to have newer, more dramatic resorts, and it rained a lot more in Moorea - not sure if we had bad luck or if that's the weather pattern. FYI we flew Air France (I think the only carrier that flies there) and the plane had seats THAT DID NOT RECLINE. Everyone ended up sleeping on their fold down trays. Fucking French, designing a long haul interior with cool looking sculpted seats that were uncomfortable as hell. The Maginot Line of airplanes. Also, we looked into the Maldives FWIW, and supposedly it's a major pain in the ass to get there.
