  1. But Gene Parmesan is right, imo. I love the CFA, but the texture of their sandwiches is shit. Now, I do like the flavor, but my taste buds are not well developed....
  2. Texan, Marine, reporter, a good American. We need more like him in today's news "industry". “I have an old-fashioned view that news is not a commodity,” Mr. Lehrer told The American Journalism Review in 2001. “News is information that’s required in a democratic society, and Thomas Jefferson said a democracy is dependent on an informed citizenry. That sounds corny, but I don’t care whether it sounds corny or not. It’s the truth.” I'm Jim Lehrer. Thank you, and good night. Good night to you, Mr. Lehrer. You will be missed.
  3. I wasn't (and am still not) a fan of the Chicago private equity firm buying out a Texas institution, but like iconoclast said, they just need to deliver a kick-ass burger. As far as the new look? Anything that looks more like a P Terry's is a plus, imo.
  4. LoL. I read something a few years back about some college wrestlers (young, in very good shape, etc) climbed Longs Peak). They left the parking lot at about 3:00 am (maybe 2:30) and had a very difficult time. And this was summer. Even though it's a walk in the park, it's not a walk in the park. If you're looking for a hiking challenge, start with Guadalupe Peak. It's strenuous, but doable.
  5. Yeah, the YMCA is impressive. And it's kinda on the way, iirc, to the church/chapel coming out of the rocks, St. Malo. Maybe not on the way, St. Malo is down on county road 7, iirc. The Y is down hwy 66, so not on the way.
  6. What is there to do with a toddler anywhere? Get a papoose thingy and carry them around when you up to the park; walk around downtown and hit the candy stores; take them to the rock shop; sledding if the weather/conditions are favorable for it; get 'em out in the snow.... Just take them with you. If you're having fun then likely they'll have fun, too. Get them a caramel apple at Laura's at the end of the day and hit up that pizza place (Antonios?).
  7. Uh, yeah it is imo. Bierstadt Lake Trail is on the way to Bear Lake. It's no way close to a 14er, so we must be talking about two different things.
  8. I guess my major concern is that I don't want to hit a fucking deer at 3:30 in the morning in the middle of nowhere.
  9. Thanks. From what I've read while the I-35/I-70 may be longer in miles it's about the same in time. Maybe that's no longer true. One of my considerations is that I'll be driving through the night, so interstate seems to have the edge over the other route. And I get ya on the Okie avoidance factor. And oh yeah, I'm planning on driving straight through. So if the shit hits the fan... I guess I don't know if the shit hits the fan.
  10. I guess that depends on what you want to do. Imo, Romo does not shut down in the winter at all. Go up to Bear Lake, walk across the frozen lake and climb that little hill at the end of it. Get some snowshoes and hike that trail on the way up to Bear Lake, Bierstadt or something like that. Enjoy the brisk, cold weather.
  11. You're probably good going to Estes, but don't make that I 70 drive without good tires. I would probably have some snow socks in the car just in case. Research COs traction laws before you come. Yeah, if you stay on the east side/front range you should generally be ok. If you go on the western/ski side you generally would not be ok. Or at least you should have some chains with you.
  12. I know this has been asked before, but is there a clearly better way to go: nw Texas or I-35 to I-70? Is there any road construction going on the nw Texas way?
  13. Libs? How about just non-retarded Republicans?
  14. You kinda made my point. Yes, I'm aware of those other verses. But there is still a verse that says "faith without works is dead". So... everyone is cherry picking. Just because the "church" has consensus on which cherries they picked, they still picked something. Someone (man) had to decide that. So, contrary to Luther, it's not "sola scriptura".
  15. I had one. It was kinda greasy. Chck fil a is better.
  16. Barr is like his dad: a semi-competent, semi-corrupt assclown.
  17. If that were true then there wouldn't have been a "need" to have a bible verse stating that "faith without works is dead". To me, this is just another (bullshit?) way to get around scriptural conflicts. A ham-handed way to show that the bible is a seamless web of truth. Come on. Faith is faith. Works is works. Don't overcomplicate things.
  18. To me, that is just a ham-handed, in-artful way of avoiding the scriptural conflicts. Works will not inevitably follow. See deathbed confessions.
  19. Which makes my point. They quote one part of the bible, I quote another. Pick and choose. Interpret. And fuck the slavery loving, anti-dancing baptists. Maybe when they learn to read they can climb to the heights of being a Methodist....
  20. It's not fucking nuance. The bible itself states that faith without works is dead. And "man" (could be some women) is interpreting this stuff. The bible/text is open (wide open in parts) to interpretation. You can't "nuance" your way out of this, imo.
  21. I've read similar things about viewing pics like that, but it had to do with how long the person viewed the image. That is, a gay person's gaze lingered longer on the homo pic, and the straight person's gaze lingered longer on the hot babe pic. Society is struggling to deal with the whole "accepting gays" thing, and so the church is, too. The church is little more than a reflection of (some segments) society. For the most part, it's a very good segment but it's not perfect. I hope that this will all come to a positive conclusion. Like some have said: don't be a dick to others. Maybe with the older crowd dying off we will achieve more acceptance of gays.
  22. Both are good qbs. Burrow obviously had the better year. But Sam may be a sleeper. He's been solid, sometimes rock solid, other times not as much. But who knows what he may do at the next level with good guidance? Sam's been good, if not great, for Texas. Thank you for your service, Sam.
  23. Which is what in American miles? 360? 820? about 90?
  24. How do you know that Luhnow got railroaded? I mean, is this along the lines of evidence showing that Iran was going to bomb 4 embassies?
