  1. Very true. You like what you like. I found this, which may or may not apply here. Another taste test conducted by the New York Times suggests the same thing: As a counterpoint, here's another report suggesting most people can not tell the difference:
  2. Vodka, by definition (and "law) is a neutral grain spirit, right? Neutral? https://www.npr.org/2018/03/01/590022606/is-there-really-a-difference-between-expensive-vodka-and-cheap-vodka I still can't believe that people insist that stuff like Grey Goose is so better than other stuff. I'm not saying buy the absolute cheapest stuff, but if you're buying "premium" vodka you're doing it wrong, especially if you're mixing it.
  3. Unless it's Smirnoff. Or any other non-shitty vodka with non-shitty ice cubes.
  4. I'll be surprised if this winds up killing more people than the "normal" flu. Could be wrong, though.
  5. Those are some nice shrubs/plants. Shame if someone sprayed Round Up on them. Same with the yard. Just a shame.
  6. Vote him out. Vote. Vote. Vote him out.
  7. Been awhile since I've been to Big Bend, but what do you mean by an "open spot" for Lost Mines? Is there a reservation/queue system now?
  8. Better player b/c he was a roided out douchebag cheater?
  9. Food wise? You're not missing anything? Texans blind, slavish devotion to something they think embodies Texas? Maybe WAB was worth it before. It's not now.
  10. What a buffoon. Guess it doesn't matter if those cases are tossed b/c of insufficient proof that it's pot instead of hemp? Make those arrests. Make your quota.
  11. Carpetbaggers? Like Texas was part of the deep south like those abominations Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia? Let's not suck on the confederacy cock too much, boys.
  12. I don't know the good, raw data, but I'd be very surprised if UT's undergard admissions to med school was a lot higher than Trinity's. Slightly higher? Maybe. A lot higher? I think the smaller, quality schools have an edge in stuff like this.
  13. Don't overlook Nursing. It's a damn good profession, and the CRNA gig isn't too bad.
  14. Cool. Link, please.
  15. Meaning what, that Trinity's % is a lot higher than UT's (given the size of the student body)?
  16. Don't sweat it too much, imo. Yeah, go to a good school. But more importantly, do well at that school. Whether it be the lesser ones like UH or aggy, just do the best you can at the undergrad level. There may be fewer temptations at Trinity than UT, which would presumably help the academic factor, but hey, support him the best you can and wish him luck. It's his life. But you just cannot go wrong with either UT or Trinity, imo.
  17. Yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah. Let's get to what's really important. I have a son (UT grad) and your daughter sounds like quite a catch. What say we have them make some sort of connection? Just kidding. But your daughter sure sounds like a winner, suckitkevin. Grats to you. Trinity? That's impressive. As far as going to med school, Trinity might be a better option. Those smaller schools (good schools, and great schools like Trinity) have more personalized instruction and you can probably get closer to faculty for good recs.
  18. Fuck those who think it's necessary for this kid to cut his hair. And fuck those who want to turn this into a "whitey/slave" thing. If this goes to court I hope the kid wins. I mean Jesus, what's the big deal? Yeah, the school admin are probably dumb, white, rednecks. But, imo, keep the defense on the kid's "rights".
  19. But Gene Parmesan is right, imo. I love the CFA, but the texture of their sandwiches is shit. Now, I do like the flavor, but my taste buds are not well developed....
  20. Texan, Marine, reporter, a good American. We need more like him in today's news "industry". “I have an old-fashioned view that news is not a commodity,” Mr. Lehrer told The American Journalism Review in 2001. “News is information that’s required in a democratic society, and Thomas Jefferson said a democracy is dependent on an informed citizenry. That sounds corny, but I don’t care whether it sounds corny or not. It’s the truth.” I'm Jim Lehrer. Thank you, and good night. Good night to you, Mr. Lehrer. You will be missed.

  21. I wasn't (and am still not) a fan of the Chicago private equity firm buying out a Texas institution, but like iconoclast said, they just need to deliver a kick-ass burger. As far as the new look? Anything that looks more like a P Terry's is a plus, imo.
  22. LoL. I read something a few years back about some college wrestlers (young, in very good shape, etc) climbed Longs Peak). They left the parking lot at about 3:00 am (maybe 2:30) and had a very difficult time. And this was summer. Even though it's a walk in the park, it's not a walk in the park. If you're looking for a hiking challenge, start with Guadalupe Peak. It's strenuous, but doable.
  23. Yeah, the YMCA is impressive. And it's kinda on the way, iirc, to the church/chapel coming out of the rocks, St. Malo. Maybe not on the way, St. Malo is down on county road 7, iirc. The Y is down hwy 66, so not on the way.
  24. What is there to do with a toddler anywhere? Get a papoose thingy and carry them around when you up to the park; walk around downtown and hit the candy stores; take them to the rock shop; sledding if the weather/conditions are favorable for it; get 'em out in the snow.... Just take them with you. If you're having fun then likely they'll have fun, too. Get them a caramel apple at Laura's at the end of the day and hit up that pizza place (Antonios?).
  25. Yeah, Mount =/= trail.
