  1. Just what I thought a cracker would say.
  2. Everybody, even Presidents, have a right to privacy.
  3. To add something, look at Coke Stevenson. An honorable man, no doubt, who held (at the time widely accepted) very racist views. Are his views justified/condoned simply b/c they were accepted more then than now? Of course not. But it sure as hell doesn't make him a shitty person.
  4. This kind of sums up my point quite well. LBJ, who had his faults, but who also ushered in civil/voting rights the likes of which had never been seen before, is labeled "shitty" because he held un-enlightened views as defined by our time. His racist views trump everything else, to some. Imo, this mentality is a problem. It's corrosive.
  5. NEJM article on the benefits of the HPV vaccine. https://www.jwatch.org/na49429/2019/07/09/estimating-real-world-benefits-hpv-immunization Prevalence of HPV 16 and 18 (the subtypes that most commonly cause cervical cancer) was reduced by 83% among girls aged 13 to 19 and 66% among women aged 20 to 24. Diagnosis of genital warts fell by 67% (girls aged 13–19), 54% (women aged 20–24), and 31% (women aged 25–29). CIN2+ was reduced by 51% (girls aged 13–19) and 31% (women aged 20–24). Reductions in HPV 31, 33, and 45 (for which cross-protection has been observed) were also seen, as were reductions in genital warts among boys and young men. These effects were pronounced in countries with high vaccine coverage among cohorts of multiple ages.
  6. No shit. Look at LBJ. Stop applying current day codes of morality to the past. We get it. It's wrong.
  7. People hated HRC and she fostered that over decades: stay at home making cookies, taking charge of health care, defending her husband against sexual assault charges (and then saying we should believe the women), basket of deplorables.....
  8. I respectfully disagree vehemently. She played a very large role in that, and had for quite a long time.
  9. Don't downplay the role that HRC played in (very successfully) getting people to hate her. Also, the people you describe (which could fit many families here), imo, do not consume quality news, if any news at all. They don't really care to learn the details of our government, imo. It's "Trump is my guy, turn off brain" for them. Doesn't matter if Trump's policies harm them or not.
  10. That split doesn't tell us the reason for the split. Boys aren't going/applying? Boys are applying but aren't being admitted?
  11. Exactly, and now those texas lawmakers have to contend with browns and blacks possibly being let out of jail via bail reform. Their heads must be exploding.
  12. Why bargain a case down if the state can't convict? Even neophytes can get a lawyer.
  13. I find Trump's statement much more xenophobic and anti-immigrant than racist. But it is based on racism.
  14. So even if the defense can argue that there isn't sufficient proof that the item is, in fact, dope things won't change much? Maybe. I doubt it, though. And El Paso's response was pretty dim, imo. This is a rather big "out" for defendants.
  15. In summation: Texas politicians are even dumber than you thought. But this time, it has a positive outcome.
  16. I don't know how much of a duty is created by a tenant "cautioning" the driver.
  17. Delivery guys were told not to attempt going down a narrow, tree-lined, drive with their massive truck. I don't think this will count for much. Was the street "zoned" for smaller type trucks?
  18. Sounds like they went down a public street in a municipality that didn't take adequate measures to allow for commercial traffic. Good luck.
  19. Read it again. He was a party to it. And it affected the ability of the government to ascertain his citizenship status.
  20. The reason it appears to have taken CBP and ICE so long to determine Galicia’s citizenship is because his mother, who is not a citizen, took out a U.S. tourist visa in his name while he was still a minor, falsely saying he was born in Mexico, Galan said. His mother, Sanjuana, told The Washington Post that CBP discovered the visa after fingerprinting her son. The conflicting documents only fueled the agency’s suspicion that Galicia’s U.S. documents were fake, Galan said. Wow. Who could have foreseen that this was wrong and could have caused a problem? I hate Trump, what ICE/CBP are doing, but my limited reserve of sympathies are going to others who don't commit dumb-ass fraud like this. This story is more complicated than most were led to believe. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/07/23/francisco-erwin-galicia-ice-cpb-us-citizen-detained-texas/?utm_term=.62010f76941b
  21. If you're an American citizen, they why do you have (fraudulent) documents from another country saying that you're a citizen of that country? Yeah, CPB/ICE screwed up. But this snafu is on this guy (and his dumb-ass mom).
  22. Then why not just say that? Why go through the bullshit of saying he's going to make it top 25? This is the type of crap that needs to be called out, imo.
