  1. Ok, I'll just make a couple of comments and then cease to darken this thread's doorstep. Is Pelosi's strategy all over the place? I don't know. I don't think one can come to that conclusion based on just what we've seen so far. And as far as "occasionally" criticizing the president, are you arguing that she should be constantly criticizing Trump? I don't. That is a sure way to get people to stop listening to you. So, imo, Pelosi should pick here criticisms carefully, even if that leads to some deriding her for only "occasionally" bashing him. Pelosi is within her jurisdiction as Speaker to criticize members of her own party. I frankly don't see why a Speaker wouldn't do otherwise. As far as Pelosi being an addled and incompetent politician (as you basically aver) I don't see it. Is she great? No. But imo she is a seasoned and wily politician. And lastly, as far as this new, great age of "contemporary politics" goes, the party on the left is now the party on the right. Imo, politics doesn't change all that much. It is what it is.
  2. Again, impeachment is NOT THE ONLY WAY TO BATTLE. Use some strategy.
  3. Who cares? I do. Does anyone not realize the very real chance that impeachment will backfire on the Dems? We don't need an impeachment to get the news and public to start talking. Impeachment has nothing to do with this.Yeah, it would contribute to that talk, but it's not required. And bullshit on Pelosi being the reason why the Mueller report is fading from memory. That's ridiculous, imo. It's like everyone is taking crazy pills. Who cares that the Senate won't convict and that this could very well energize Trump's base and help him to a second term? I care. I care a lot. Also, how about using House committees/sub-committees to investigate Trump, using the power of subpoena and whatnot? There are other options than impeachment. Peolos is not a dumb politician. At this point, AOC is (at times).
  4. And when their time has come, do you think they will have sufficient numbers to really change anything? Or do you think that 4 is enough? And when their time comes, sometime in the future, do you think their "youthful" ideals will still be there? The time may/will come for some change, but not the type of change that AOC/Omar are calling for. Imo.
  5. It's so cute that people think Perot is in heaven.
  6. Yeah, the story has evolved. 1. Grandpa held baby out a window, dropped the kid. (grandpa's fault) 2. Kid was next to a window and, gasp, fell out. (still grandpa's fault) 3. They were in a play area with partial windows, grandpa relied/thought they were in a part where the windows were not incomplete. (grandpa is still a dumbass) 4. Who knows what the story is now. 5. Bottom line, grandpa may have been under the influence of something. How this is the cruise ship's fault is beyond me. The grandpa killed his grandchild, end of story. Accident? Maybe. But he killed her.
  7. So, would this prevent someone from breaking the "lock" and licking the ice cream? I just don't see how better "sealing" would eliminate this act. (licking the ice cream)
  8. Not so fast, my friend. I don't think they will take over. They will make some noise, sure, but take over? I don't see it.
  9. Again, bullshit. First, I agree that Pelosi has a consitutional duty to exercise Congress's checks and balances. This does not, however, require her to start impeachment proceedings. Second, Impeachment is an indictment, not a conclusion. The Senate will not convict. Third, I strongly disagree that impeachment is the ONLY MEANINGFUL way Pelosi has to rein in the Executive branch. Fourth, just what makes you think that a threat (credible) of impeachment would cause (coerce? are you kidding?) the WH to cooperate and exercise restraint?
  10. Especially when the Republicans would rather deny a public school elhi education to "illegal" kids. This just reeks of so much hypocrisy, imo (not you specifically, but generally). Treat "illegals" like shit, deny them benefits (they do work and pay taxes), try to screw them over when it comes to education (in various ways, one of which was mentioned, also trying to deny them in-state tuition when they do live in-state) and then wring your hands that it's so hard for them to break out of their cycle of poverty. It's hard, yes, no shit. And it's made harder by imposing these (decidedly, imo, non-Christian) punitive measures. But just in economic terms, we need these workers.
  11. I gotta call bullshit on Kasparov. There is no constitutional "duty" for Pelosi to start impeachment proceedings. Impeachment is, at heart, a political action.
  12. I ate at the Texas Chili Parlor for the first time recently. It was meh. I'm glad it's there and all, but the chili itself was average. Quite a bit better than the cleanliness of the restrooms, though.
  13. One can always (or almost always) get more education. You're arguing (imo) that one's educational level is fixed. We need low-wage (or min wage) workers in our economy.
  14. Another giant judicial fail? I guess Trump has had some judicial setbacks, but in the big scheme of things he hasn't failed at all with all the crap he's done.
  15. Dusk? Are you a millennial? Dawn, bro. Always fight at dawn.
  16. You sound like a good parent and a well-adjusted person.
  17. I think you're begging the question here. It should be a gain for a functioning, growing society. Why isn't it?
  18. I think that if people were honest many would answer yes, they have close family members whom they don't like. But that doesn't mean you don't love them.
  19. I don't dislike AOC, but she's basically a windbag. Pelosi is a competent politician, but I still like the AOC is going after her.
  20. Maybe this has been answered, but how exactly are these ice cream tubs going to be sealed so that nothing like this can happen?
  21. This. The hospitality industry requires one to smile while getting kicked in the nuts.
  22. I doubt your dad will come to his senses. The skank needs to be convinced to seek out other pastures. How that is accomplished is the interesting part.
  23. Trump should tell SCOTUS to fuck off and that the Franklin case does apply. Would the emasculated Supreme Court do anything? What does the Magic 9-Ball say?
