  1. Hey now! Don't you know that theological rigor enforces white male heterosexual privilege?
  2. Oh, I've never said that what the Israelis are doing (what you call terrorism) is good. Far from it. What I've said is: 1) Israel has a right to defend itself, especially when surrounded by hostile Arab states, some of them calling for Israel to be wiped off the map; 2) Palestinians basically hate the US. The Palestinians are not a viable US ally in the region. They cheered when 9/11 happened. Literally cheered in the streets. 3) The Palestinians are their own worst enemy. It's as if they can't imagine a scenario where they aren't the "persecuted" ones, where they don't have the Israelis to blame.
  3. Meaning what? That Palestinians are like cockroaches? Like Johnny said, play stupid games win stupid prizes. The Palestinians/Hamas don't seem to know any other type of game, unfortunately.
  4. But hey, at least the good Baptists are agin abortion. A former Southern Baptist pastor who supported legislation in Texas that would have criminalized abortions has been arrested on charges of child sex abuse, accused of repeatedly molesting a teenage relative over the course of two years. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/texas-pastor-backed-bill-criminalizing-abortion-arrested-63746067
  5. Damn. Almost sounds like something an HPV vaccine might help with.
  6. Lol, "arbitrary" measures. Yeah, why in the world would the Israelis protect themselves from bomb-throwing, rocket-launching Palestinians? It's all so arbitrary.
  7. It's better than good. Especially with Moriarty (the priest).
  8. I hope I'm wrong, but this is the end of Whataburger (as we know it). Fucking Chicago.
  9. Buffet's firm has under-performed the S&P 500 for the past decade.
  10. That is just what a Chicago investment firm taking over a beloved Texas burger company would do. I'll always remember where I was when I heard that Whataburger died.
  11. I'm not an expert, but most of the backer rod stuff is the same. Ditto for the self-leveling product. As the expert above did say, if you're going to use a lot, buy it by the case. Jiggy-Z is the expert.... Like Williemack said, use backer rod (or sand) to fill up the space so you don't have to so much of the self-leveling caulk. And, the backer rod will float. That's not usually a problem, but keep in mind.
  12. Ironic right? Especially since Jesus was, you know, not married.
  13. Not quite right. I just (above) referred to myself as a native American. And Canadians call themselves more than just "Canadian". Check out Quebec.
  14. Iirc, that half-life of this radiation is about 40 years. There won't be much long-term damage to the environment.
  15. Canada uses the term "First Nations". Which, while not probably precisely accurate, is better than "native American".
  16. Uh, no. And yeah, anybody born in the Americas could be called "native American". Because they are, you know, a native American.
  17. The term "native American". I'm not "indian/first nations/etc". I was born in the US of A. I am a native American.
  18. Surprising we don't have the latest update blaming Israel for the rockets that the Palestinians are sending into Israel.
  19. I just have a natural antipathy to groups who insist they "know" the "true" way, that their version of the "truth" is the only one. Baptists seem to be like that. But then, so do a lot of other fundamentalist religions. In fact, all of them are like that or they wouldn't be fundamentalist.
  20. Caplan is absolutely correct: “I think what’s happened is there is a more organized and engaged opposition to celebrity claptrap and nonsense, and in general anti-vaccine malarkey,” said Arthur L. Caplan, a bioethicist at the N.Y.U. School of Medicine. “Defenders of vaccination are much more engaged. They’re saying, we’re not going to put up with anti-vaxxers and celebrities maneuvering around the edges of the debate.” And yes, this applies to those opposed to the HPV vaccine.
  21. I've never seen the appeal of being a Southern Baptist: virulent racism, backwards views on dancing and alcohol. I never got the impression they appealed to the, let's say, intellectual crowd. But it's a private club and if that's your thing, then go for it.
  22. Yeah, I just finished season 2. Season 1 was very good. Season 2 was better. So many fine, little funny things going on.
  23. That saying, along with a pic, would make an awesome tattoo. Not on me. I'm agin it.
