  1. “God gave us a wonderful beautiful body that heals itself,” one anti-vaxxer said. How do you reason with people like that? Sadly, it seems that you can't. It would be a bit different if those idiots were the only ones who paid the price for their stupidity (yeah, it's the kids that really pay the price) but this is a public health issue.
  2. You realize that the Queen doesn't run the UK, right? Or Canada? If you can't see anything of value then you're just trolling.
  3. Lol. I hope it is. I still have some of that wood in place. But yeah, that stuff can't be all that waterproof.
  4. I started out overkilling it. 1. Clean stuff out of the gap. 2. put down the backer rod (for me, this was mostly used to fill up the space). 3. used clear waterproof silicone caulk on the backer rod to attach to concrete sides (this was the overkill, I stopped doing this pretty quickly). 4. applied the self-leveling caulk. If you're doing any amount at all, I recommend buying the big (about 30 oz) tubes of the self-leveling caulk (instead of the smaller about 10 oz tubes). At my Lowes, the smaller tubes are about $8.50, while the bigger tubes are around $13.50, so (almost) triple the amount for less than half the price. You'll also need a bigger caulk gun. And you can go through a lot of this stuff if you aren't careful, hence using the backer rod stuff. Also, the backer rod will float, so ideally you'll shove that stuff in the gap and it will kind of be jammed in there. 5. I don't like the look of the self-leveling caulk, so I put some play sand (can get at Lowes) over it. Don't know how that will do over time. Like I mentioned, if you're not careful you can go through a lot of that self-leveling caulk. When I started I was buying the smaller tubes ($8.50 a pop) and could use 2.5 to 3 tubes for about a 10-12 foot span. Ouch, considering I had a lot more than that to do. So, get the bigger tubes, use backer rod (you can even fill some of the gap with sand if you want, just leave enough space for the self-leveling caulk), and try not to be messy with it. Oh, and you might want to wear gloves or latex/nitrile gloves to keep the stuff off your hands. *** edit to add *** I used Sika Grey Self-Leveling Sealant. My guess is that it's pretty close to SL1 quality.
  5. Amen, brother. And yet, yet, we still have posts like phds. Shake my damn head. Mankind is really fucking stupid sometimes.
  6. Yeah, I sho will miss my local retail coal mining store. Black-Lungs-R-Us, I'll miss ya.
  7. Not only that, but like I mentioned, what about 30 years from now when your (virginal) so has died and you marry someone else? Jesus, pull your head out of your ass and get a shot that can prevent CANCER. I don't give a fuck if your "doctor" agrees with you and doesn't recommend it. What. The. Fuck. Bizarre, yes. This is just a grade-A, prime example of poor thinking. (unless there's a valid medical reason not to get the shot) This shot can PREVENT CANCER. Stop rationalizing why it shouldn't be given. What's next? You telling me that the bible disproves evolution?
  8. And by "reward" you mean having the US consumer pay less for tomatoes and lettuce? Gotcha.
  9. I would like to see phd address my above post, specifically: And what about these kids whose parents don't have them get the vaccine who, for some reason lose their (virginal) partner? Death, divorce, glorious assumption, alien abduction, whatever, and then meet someone in their later years and (gasp) have sex with them? Not saying that he's self-nominating himself for a parent-o-the-year award (but his "doctor" sure seems out to lunch) but really?
  10. Yeah,... no. Unless you want the pool to heave up. Sit out there a few nights with a shotgun. Stand your ground.
  11. Then where will all those aggy-mentality students go? OU?
  12. That's just it. So many parents think that their kids won't have sex until they have married their (also virginal) partner and then will never have sex with anybody else their entire lives. And a lot of parents "just know" that their kids are 100% honest and open with them regarding sex. And maybe they are. Some are, at least. But not all. Look at the data and the prevalence of the virus. If a person has sex (iirc) with something like 3 or 4 people, the chances of getting the virus is about 100%. Or at least very high. And what about these kids whose parents don't have them get the vaccine who, for some reason lose their (virginal) partner? Death, divorce, glorious assumption, alien abduction, whatever, and then meet someone in their later years and (gasp) have sex with them? Bottom line: like brisket said it's a no-brainer. Get the vaccine (before your kids become sexually active). Inform yourself. Be smart.
  13. Damn. A Catholic priest having sex with a woman. What's the world coming to?
  14. Lol. Knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing. For some reason that saying comes to mind with you.
  15. Some, and not just the "woke" crowd, would say that what one is really worth goes beyond financial statements. Stop channeling your inner Dotard.
  16. Wow. Just wow. Comparing a vaccine (which may prevent cancer, and thus save a life (and a lot of money)) to lifestyle choices of apparel wear and food choices. And just how does getting the HPV vaccine put one at risk? How does getting the shot affect one in the future? I can see how not getting the shot can do that, but getting the shot? I really don't see your line of thought here. And yeah, I'm also dogmatic about other aspects of taking care of your kid's health. One of my shortcomings, I guess.
  17. Sad deal all around. Just wtf was going through his head when he fired that shot?
  18. phd is really out to lunch on this one. This site will help. If he reads it. https://www.cdc.gov/std/hpv/stdfact-hpv.htm
  19. Dude, I gave you two reasons why your post was dumb and ignorant. This shot could literally prevent cancer, and possibly save a life. Yeah, you have a choice. Too bad it affects your kids.
  20. There are so many wrong (and ignorant) things about this post. 1. The kid needs to get the vaccine BEFORE they become sexually active for optimal protection. 2. The vaccine has NOTHING to do with contraception. Also, your subsequent posts aren't much better. As a parent, it's your job to protect your kid. As in, not wait for them to decide whether to get a vaccination. See #1 above to distinguish this shot from say, a measles shot
  21. Come on, dude. We need names.
  22. This may be an unpopular opinion, but the "auto-admit" crowd should not be necessarily automatically admitted into the college of engineering or business. If you're top x% of some dog-shit school and happen to have low SATs, you should not be given preference over some kid who went to a very good school (but not in top x%) who has stellar SATs.
  23. Boy, are you in for some bad news. On the plus side, I hear that the Social Work major has some openings.
  24. Depends when the kid starts banging. Seriously, read up on this shit.
