  1. Eh, I would lean towards Sanders making a excellent catch in traffic and still a high throw from Ewers.
  2. I’m not sure it was entirely late of a throw since it was an RPO and he had to suck the linebackers in with the fake. He gets it out of the mesh point quickly in my opinion. Also, the linebacker seems to read it decently and wasn’t late on his jump in a effort to bat the ball down. With all that said, the throw is still too high, while also being a catchable ball. It sucks that Sanders’ attempt to retain the ball with his left hand while getting struck inadvertently knocked the ball in the air perfectly. Ewers definitely is inconsistent with this route tho. off the top of my head I can remember last year against Iowa State, he missed Sanders wide-open in the red zone and threw it over his head.
  3. Here’s a play that highlights Hill having fun instead of playing angry /s. Made that OU running back look like a little bitch
  4. I think the defense will be fine. They got to get some stuff figured out pertaining to containment which is easily fixable, and they have done that well before this game. Gabriel didn’t really hurt us either in terms of reading or defense, but rather his ability to scramble on down and distances. I thought this was interesting although I feel he didn’t flip a switch. PK did the heavy lifting for him.
  5. On top of that, the record that is tilted towards OU only shows how shitty we are at hiring good coaches.
  6. Pretty much this. During Sarks three years, I have never gotten the feeling that the team wasn’t ready for this game mentally. Kirk and Chris even pointed out that it was the most physical game that they witnessed so far this season. There were multiple times in the first half and after Ewers fumbled in the third quarter where they could have easily folded.
  7. Watts was out and replaced with a true freshman. PK also lost his starting safety quick into the game and was replaced by a true freshman. Hurry up offense can limit a dominant dline and put pressure on the secondary. Our weakest unit during the game on the defense was our secondary. Could be argued they are in each game. It’s not hard to realize why we struggled, especially defending the pass. Hell, even Thompson dropped an interception that he had a perfect read on.
  8. Replying to mine, we started on our 15 with 4:42. We should not be in hurry when we’re on their 49 with just over 3 min. Same thing for the second.
  9. Still think Scipio’s opinion on the up tempo is only halfway right. If the goal is to be the last drive of the game then why are we in a hurry with over 3 min on the clock? We’re splitting hairs with the play call decisions on 3rd & 9 and 4th & 4 when in reality better clock management would simplify that decision, if it were to arise. Slow down and if you have to kick a field goal, at least make it 45 seconds or less for OU. I also think he’s being to over dramatic with the defense inefficiency’s through out the game. They got 4 stops in row before ou’s final scoring drive. You’re telling me that Sark was wrong in thinking that PK couldn’t at least get their offense to a second down? Ou went 1st down, 1st down, 1st down, 1st down, 1st & goal, and finally 2nd & goal. That is a meltdown of epic proportions. The defense played a bad game but gun to my head before they start that drive I would bet OU faces at least one 2nd down.
  10. After watching the game again, the defense was playing good ball down the stretch. Before the go ahead scoring drive from OU, they went 3 and out, turnover on downs, missed FG, and 3 and out. I just don’t know what the fuck happened to our defense on that last drive and Sark has to be lost for words this morning watching the film. It’s like PK and the players lost all confidence to produce one last drive.
  11. The fumble was on a 3rd down so we were punting next play. Ou goes 3 and out and we get the ball at our own 6. We then produce a FG from a 10 play, 67 yard drive. It’s was red zone issue not field position imo.
  12. Scipio had the same line of reasoning about why we ran up tempo. He’s correct but it ignores our own ability to dial in the right play as well. They were gassed and had a back up corner who I believe was really a safety. You’re at the OU 49, burn the clock and get the right play in. Ewers was going to make the throw, up tempo or not. Get worthy or AD on that corner and win the game.
  13. Sark bad management Jimbo: hold my beer Cristobal: no, hold mine

    3rd and 9

Well Bert already made a 45 yard FG previously which is more devil advocate from me but at least we can see where sarks head was at when he sent him back out for a go ahead 47 yard FG. I agree tho the risk of him missing it was there but I’m not going to complain for 3 points we did get rather than what could’ve been. We came away with the lead which was the goal of the drive. If we were to start with the 3 & 9 call, it’s easy to see where his head was at. You can’t take a sack, like they already did on first down, because then you’re out of FG range and it’s a long 4th. An incomplete pass is also technically out of FG range, too. We run for 5 yards or less and we’re in the same spot or worse than what actually happened. That’s why I believe the 3rd and 4th down calls were fine from a risk perspective. A different play call on 3 & 9 would be a roll out play action and if it’s not there have Ewers tuck it and make OU call a timeout. We got the ball on our own 15 with 4:42 on the clock. When the clock struck 3:05 we were at the OU 49. You want to know how much time we Sark took off the clock? A whopping 15 seconds. We took off 30 seconds the next play. There is absolutely no reason as to why we shouldn’t have slowed down and milked the clock once we got across the 50. Gabriel scored with 15 seconds left in the game. Sark mismanaged the clock before OU ever touched the ball and it cost us the game.

Hindsight and all but on 2nd or 3rd down I’m running the whip route like he did against Iowa st last year on the goal line. You could have ran trips to right with Worthy one on one to the left. They’re probably thinking Alabama goal line a la AD. Worthy runs runs the whip = profit.

It’s going to hilarious watching OU play at Kansas or byu like they did against smu/Cincinnati and stumble. Ou could very well go undefeated but today they played above their usual mean. Kinda like Texas did in 2018.

The Dline not keeping their rush lanes and we somehow having a game plan for Milroe scrambling but not for Gabriel is one of the biggest head scratchers. We have shown to do both very well this season, especially against a more athletic qb.
  18. Sacks have nothing to do with the run game unless you want to count Ewers sacks as “rushing attempts” like college does. Gabriel was ou’s leading rusher with 113 yards based solely on scrambles. Brooks had 130 yards. With his 30 yard long being a perfectly well blocked touchdown run to tie the game. We were running the ball on that dline pretty dang good in the second half. Agree to disagree.
  19. Lulz. Saying our Oline was getting pushed around in the run all game is just false. Brooks was averaging almost 6yrd a carry.
  20. Eh, not executing sucks but we’re still good on the line. Our Dline is still really good and I have no doubt that they flip the script next game. This is the only team in the conference that can run the up tempo on the level we saw today that diminishes our Dline. The Oline did a good job in the run game outside of the goal line bust but are also too hit or miss in pass protection. That shit needs to get fixed quick and Majors getting hurt ain’t helping.
  21. Murphy has been bulldozing people from that formation all year. Keep the same personnel in and realize they have to sell out on the run. It’s an easy play action boot/pass in the flat with Ou thinking run the whole way. With all that said, even with them selling out against the run in that formation, all we had to do was execute a block and it’s a touchdown. The goal line failure was a microcosm of how we played the game in key moments. All we had to do was keep a level head and execute like we’ve done all season. Instead we didn’t and OU was able to play above their talent level.

    3rd and 9

The quick game and up tempo nullified our Dline strengths and put all the pressure on the secondary and open field tackling. We can have depth for days but if they’re running up temp successfully it doesn’t matter because we can’t rotate. And All of the sudden they start to a have a little bit of a run game. Gabriel had the game of his life which needed to happen in order for them to have a shot. He was making the tough intermediate throws that he struggled with before this game. That’s not going to happen if we meet again.

The calls themselves were fine imo but the clock management put himself in that position to begin with. That’s where he fucked up. Ewers was dealing with or without tempo so there was no need to go up tempo when all we needed was a field goal to win it.

The servers on this site would have crashed in a nanosecond if we went for on 4th down and didn’t get it, leaving OU in great field position to drive into field goal range.
  25. We are obviously going to fall but you are acting like we are going to be unranked after this. The pac12 is fixing to eat each other. Michigan, Ohio st, and Penn st all play each other. Right now it’s only Georgia in the sec. We will definitely be in the playoff with 1 loss and a big 12 title.
